Gyro sandwich

We wanted a traditional Greek lunch and Greek towns fits the bill. The restaurant looked busy and people leaving said the food was good. The booth was comfy, Greek music a nice touch & the restaurant looked very clean. The lunch menu was reasonable & our food came out very quickly. We started with a small Greek salad which was fresh, delicious & nicely dressed. The gyros were filled with lamb & were tasty.

Pegasus has never been my first choice in Greektown but I really enjoyed my meal there. Upon entering, it's very dark and the floors are very slippery. So slippery that I'm surprised there isn't a sign and the hostess doesn't give a warning. I've seen this in other reviews so I'm extra surprised that nothing has been done about this. It's also very dark in there. I just know if I brought anyone above 60 years old they would pull out their phone flashlight to see the menu. Even I, at 29, was questioning if I needed the phone light. The place is decorated with fake vines of leaves, which multiple people at our table commented that it looked very nice and we were surprised they weren't covered in dust or webs. Good job, Pegasus! Our server greeted us with a basket of bread and butter. The bread was very soft but kind of boring. We started with saganaki for the table. It was delicious as always but I wish it came with pita. We ate the saganaki with the bread basket which wasn't ask good as it would've been with pita. We went for lunch so there were only a couple other tables and our food came out faster than we could finish our appetizer. I got the vegetarian trio - moussaka, grape leaves and spinach pie. All 3 were delicious - especially the moussaka! If I went again I would just get a big plate of that but I was happy to get to try 3 different things. Our server was great at checking on us and filling our waters. Overall, I would go back.

Environment was nice and the decor was cool looking. Servers and staff were nice and made the experience better. As for the food, it was okay. Definitely come here on an empty stomach because the plates were so filling. I do think this place is over priced as well. The bread they give out to you in the beginning is not the greatest. But the food I ate was pretty decent, just wouldn't get it again.

Stuffed grape leaves

Stopped in for lunch with a group of friends. Nice ambiance and service. Good prices of the lunch menu and portions were nice size. I had the stuffed grape leaves. Myself and everyone in our group enjoyed our meals. First time trying a Greek beer, it was good. Overall a nice experience.

This has always been my go to place for Greektown. The streets are torn up for construction right now so it was a little tricky maneuvering our way around the streets. We were there at lunchtime and they had a lunch menu which worked out great. My friend got the Philly steak cheese wrap and upgraded to french fries and I got the chicken gyro wrap and upgraded to french fries. My order of french fries was twice as big as his for some reason but other than that the sandwiches were really good. For my sandwich, the tzatziki sauce came on the side, which was perfect, but when I asked for a box to go, the waitress didn't give me a separate container for the tzatziki sauce, which I was kind of surprised about. All in all, the food was good, but I wouldn't say our waitress was the best.

We chose to have dinner here because we hadn't eaten here in years. There are 2 entrances so if enter from the Greektown hallway, you need to make your way over to the hostess stand. We were initially sat at a table in the walkway and I preferred to wait for something better - it was a terrible location with all the server traffic. They then sat us in a booth. Let me stop here for a moment to warn you...their floors are covered in grease and if you aren't overly cautious, you will slip and possibly fall. I seem to recall this problem from years ago. I ordered Saganaki, a Greek salad, and Scordalia with fried artichokes. They serve bread and butter as part of the dinner service. I do not enjoy the bread - it's just bland and boring. The rest of the food was okay but there are much better options in Greektown.

Calamari

Was there for my birthday with my husband we had lamb green beans and rice calamari Greek salad, fried cheese bread. Lamb was slightly warm, the calamari was so greasy and also slightly warm with raw onions and cherry tomatoes about 8 pieces of calamari dipping sauce was in paper like small cup with a small amount and was sauce all over almost like someone else had used it. Not at all like the dinner we had a few months ago. Server was not good I needed a drink of water also he was no where I finally saw another server at the end of my meal she brought me some water will not be returning

Platos Platter

My husband often works over in the Detroit area so we are always on the lookout for a great spot to have dinner. We aren't from the area so we often rely on recommendations. We were recently recommended Pegasus and decided to give it a try! WOW! Prior to this visit I had little exposure to greek food but this experience most definitely left me hungry for more!! We had the best waiter!! I wish I could remember his name! He was absolutely perfect for us, as rookies in greek food - he gave really great recommendations and explanations and helped us choose some really amazing dishes to try! And because it was our first time in, he gave us a piece of the most delicious baklava for dessert, on the house!! Such a great experience!! We started our meal with the Saganaki - flaming cheese! What fun and very tasty!! They also serve a delicious bread basket for the table!! After very high recommendations from our server my husband ordered the Platos Platter which was a great bit of assortment but also included lamb chops which he was really wanting to try! It came with the choice of a soup or salad to start and he chose the greek salad - wow! One of the best salads that we have ever tasted! Everything on his dinner plate was absolutely amazing!! He even loved the veggies they served which included peas and he never likes peas!!! :) The dolmathes also deserve special mention - I'm not usually a fan of grape leaves but I loved these!! As the less adventurous one, I chose the Greek Trio. It came with spanakoteropeta, moussaka, and pastitsio, Each one of these items were new to me and each one was so delicious!! I think my very favorite was the moussaka which is thinly sliced and layered eggplant, ground meat seasoned with special spices, topped with béchamel sauce. I didn't even think I liked eggplant, but dish was beyond tasty!! The atmosphere here was so pleasant! They have greenery/vines hung from the ceiling giving the cutest authentic vibes! We truly loved our time at Pegasus in Greektown and can't wait to get back that way to give it another try!! :)

Gyro and fries

I had the pleasure of dining with two colleagues visiting from India. Mihwa was our very patient server as we were reading the menu to comprehend dietary preferences. The menu was arranged conveniently by the type of major ingredients in most entrees. Although getting to the restaurant is a little challenging in December '25 due to current road construction on Monroe, the brisk walk from the parking garage set the stage for a wonderful day in the Motor City! We had to start with the Saganaki "Opa!" which is kind of a tradition with visitors. This flaming cheese with freshly made bread is delicious and always encourages exciting conversation with guests. The gyro and fries that I had was a very nice portion and I didn't even need dinner later as I was full. One colleague enjoyed blackened salmon with a side of rice and the chose fried shrimp. The size of the shrimp was also generous. This fulfilling lunch helped complement a wonderful day showing them many places in the city, Detroit Institute of Arts on historic Woodward Avenue, Greektown, Renaissance Center (floor 71!), Campus Martius at the holiday. Detroit has much to offer and I encourage many to check it out!

Take out with a few spots to sit in front but... you have the whole of eastern market to explore.... You will need a walk after your gyro so be ready. Or just park far away. Either ways... try this one. All gyros are great. Meatballs are even better!!

Having lunch at Mitso's walk-up counter in Eastern Market feels like having lunch on vacation…read more There are but a handful of walk-up counter restaurants in the Detroit area, so it feels like a fresh experience. As if I weren't in Detroit. Visiting on a sunny day in the city while people watching was perfect. I'd never had a pork gyro before, and it was fantastic. The meat was charred but still tender and very flavorful. The tzatziki sauce is the perfect condiment for the gyro sandwich as its tangyness cuts through the richness of the meat and bread. This is my new favorite gyro. It comes with fries inside of the pita. They were cold and lackluster, so next time, I will order my gyro without them. The menu isn't overwhelming, so it's easy to pick a favorite go-to on the go. When I go back, I'll have the spanakopita. It looked delish. Service was super fast, and being that it's only 10 minutes from work. I'll come for lunch often.
