I don't even know where to begin with the list of issues that I have with this property management company from the day that I called to see their availability; I should have known to stay away.
Let's start with the day I was approved and set to move in. My infant and I had just moved to town and was told the apartment would be ready the next day, after they cleaned it. Well, that was the first lie that I was told. It was really to buy them time because their system was down (more on this later) and they weren't even supposed to be signing leases. The next morning, which was supposed to be move in day we were told the systems were down and I wasn't able to sign my lease and move in right when we showed up, but they were hoping the system would be up within the in hour. The system was down all day so they ended up putting us in the model unit, since they knew that we just arrived to town and didn't have a car. Ok! I'll give them that this was nice, but it was only because we had shown up like they told us and we still were not able to sign papers and move in!
The next morning the system was still down and they had me sign a printed version, so I would be able to move my stuff in. At this point it had been sitting out in the parking lot for almost two days and the movers were waiting outside to move my stuff in, which the leasing office told me to have them still come that morning and that they would figure out how I could sign my lease and get my stuff inside, but I was not allowed to have keys until the system was up. What?! I was all frazzled because of all the confusion, taking care of a newborn baby and trying to get my stuff moved in as paying for the movers that has been sitting outside waiting for me; I didn't realize that they dated my lease for the day I was approved, not the day I moved in.
We are finally in our apartment and it was never cleaned, but at this point I was just happy to have somewhere to be able to rest and get settled in. I should have NEVER moved in! The first day we are there; I was inside rocking my baby to sleep and without notice an agent from the leasing office walks into my apartment and tells me that I still owe them money. First off, what gives you the right to just walk in, regardless that the movers were in and out moving my stuff in. I had to bring up my checking account and show them that I paid them and they said sorry, we will check our system.
At this point, I am still waiting for my keys, too. I finally received my keys by the end of the day, but still didn't have mail keys, a parking pass and was told I would get these when they were ready.
This was just the few hours at this apartment complex. The other things that went wrong in just the first 2 weeks before I felt like I was forced to break my lease. I was in the office almost everyday explaining to them how unhappy I was, how unsafe I was and asking if I could maybe switch apartments. Their only suggestion was if you're not happy you can break your lease. Lol. Are you kidding me? I've been here less than 2 weeks. I was so frustrated with them and I said I don't mean to be an ass but you don't cate about your residents if that's you're only suggestion. They kicked me out of the office forever because I said the word "ass" referring to myself. A few of the other issues I had are as follows:
1. I rented this place sight unseen (which is my fault) because we just got to town.
I was about neighborhood and the how it was walkable. It is totally not walkable and does not even have a sidewalk. I asked specially when I was leasing and felt that I was misinformed.
2. The safety for my child and I. Someone tried breaking in to my apartment twice and the leasing office swept in under the rug like someone may have had the wrong apartment. Really?! I called the police but wasn't able to file a report because they was no evidence of a break in.
3. Residents smoking all of the property and at the pool around my baby. This was another safety concern for me and my baby. I wasn't even allowed to use the amenities without putting my baby in danger, when this is NO smoking property.
3. I had a LARGE package delivered and I was told they would have maintenance bring it to my door, since I was unable to carry with a baby. That's as nice, right?! Well, that is until the manger came out and said, we don't provide these services. It's your responsibility! Wow! That was turned quickly.
4. While I was out getting lunch, the construction crew entered my apartment without my notice. I called to complain and they told me an email was sent out and that's funny because I never received it and was never added to the mailing list for residents. Again, this is another safety issue for my child and I. People can just walk in as they please?
I could go on and on about all the issues that I had with the property and management within the first few weeks. I would NEVER recommend a Pegasus Residential to my worst enemy. read more
