Not easy to get to, but soooo worth it!! My brother and I along with our 2 dogs did a tour to here and the white wave. I honestly do not think I would be able to drive here by myself. The road is 4WD high clearance and narrow with lots of sand and high curves!! Some dirt roads are not labeled and I would for sure get lost driving here if I did not end up stuck somewhere. The tour guide knows exactly where to take you. Once you get there, the walk into the entrance of the slot canyon is very short, roughly half a mile or less even. If you do not have a high clearance 4WD car, you can park in the main parking lot and hike, but bewarned, it is a pretty long trek through sand, probably 3-4 miles EACH way! Since this place is very hard to get to, you get rewarded with having the place to yourself, unlike if you were to go to antelope canyon where you have hoards of people!!
It was our first time in a slot canyon, and it had snowed the night before!! We were rewarded with solitude and fresh snow!! The slot canyon is amazing and so magical and beautiful, especially with snow!! I already want to go back and explore!! You can walk all the way into the dead end. About mid-way through, there is one small rock climb/descent of about 4 feet. It is a bit narrow, but hold on the rocks carefully and you will be fine. My dog was even able to make it after trying several times. He is not a jumper, but if I go somewhere, he will find a way to go with me.
If you are ever able to explore this slot canyon, it is a must!!! There are no crowds here and it is sooooo amazing!!! I would come back here again!!! Also, no cost to enter, only if you pay a guide to take you here. But please be prepared if you are planning on going by yourself!! A high clearance 4WD/AWD car is a MUST!! The road is very narrow and sand is deep!! Please be safe and know what you are doing!! Otherwise, park in the main parking area and walk, but it is easily a 3-4 mile trek each way, so roughly 8 miles round trip... through sand!! read more
