On June 16th, 2021, i took my then 15yr old daughter to Dr. Pedro for a small cyst on her face. ​Pedro recommend after conditioning the skin for a month with his prescribed creams/lotions that we return for a simple in-and-out procedure to extract the cyst using a "small incision". What happened July 29th, 2021 did not line up to what was described. ​ I was notably upset, but was told to "trust him." He asked us to return the following week (August 3rd, 2021) to remove the stitches. Stitches were removed. I called his office the following day alarmed at what appeared to be an opened wound. I was brought in August 4th, 2021 and was told it was fine and prescribed various creams for her to use. ​ I waited a week and given the terrible state of her face, and impending school start. I conducted research, including visiting 2 other dermatologists and 1 plastic surgeon. We also visited Cook's Children Hospital and their on-call plastic surgeon on August 13th, 2021 given what appeared to be an growingly infectious wound: ​ Each one of them said the exact same things: 1) Unfortunately, nothing could be done at this point. Her skin is too raw, irritated, and delicate. Stitching it closed would result in reopening. 2) More than likely, scar revision would be required 3) The incision was not done well nor made according to modern practice; including but not limited to 1) a small football shaped incision should have been made vs. the oversized round incision which doesn't allow for a seamless closure, 2) internal sutures should always be used on facial procedures to minimize scarring, 3) if external stitches were to be used, the stitching should have been tighter and not removed so quickly for this sized wound, 4) bottom portion of the wound was not closed My daughter was 15yrs old. A sophomore in High School. She is incredibly embarrassed by her face and self-conscience at church or any public outing. She did not one single day that school year go to school without a mask even though they were no longer required to wear it. She walked home for lunch so that she didn't have to take her mask off to eat in front of others. She was thankful for COVID because she has an excuse to wear a mask at all times. She refused to take her school pictures and refused to take any family photos (difficult reality during the holidays). For a 175 days, 2 - 3 times a day she had had to ensure she applied creams as directed by pedro, careful not to be outdoors, and endured pain. This had been extremely painful for me as her mom to witness especially when she trusted me to put her in good hands. With no improvement under his care, we decided to go to another dermatologist and then a plastic surgeon to try KTP, Fraxel, Steroid Treatment, Skin Pen before seeking the assistance of a Plastic Surgeon for scar revision. These treatments were not cheap and would not have been necessary had the cyst-removal procedure been performed correctly. I spent thousands of dollars after pedro in hopes to help her scar. Nothings worked. Its gotten slightly better but after visiting a couple Plastic Surgereons, the only route to fix the damage Dr Pedro made is scar revision with another major incision on her face :( Dr. Pedro only offered to reimburse me for his fee and none of the costs for his prescriptions or, emergency visit. Unfortunately in texas it is difficult to find a lawyer willing to do a medical malpractice suit unless the patient died or has some sort of wrong amputation. Seeing dr pedro has cost me over $4k to date (not including his fee, creams or ER visit) and opting for plastic surgery will be even more. But nothing compares to the embarrassment cost my daughter has had to suffer over the past two years and into the foreseeable future. Dr. Pedro's ways are much too antiquated to make the risk. Do Not use him for skin lesion removal. Awful scaring and outdated practice for skin cancer lesions. Do your homework and find a specialist that is well versed in up to date in techniques. read more

Dr is direct in communication, but he does a fantastic job if you listen to his recommendations with acne. Mine was fix very quickly and skin looks great. read more

I was seeing this man for over 7 years. My condition has not improved and his office manager is THE WORST! I went in and fired him and with NO CARE given he still charged me for the office visit. Wait times are AWFUL and he sends you to his pharmacy in the same building where he gets kick backs. This man is well past his prime and absolutely should retire. My grandmother introduced us to him and since then my whole family, aunt and uncle use him. My sisters had TERRIBLE acne and he treated them both. I never had bad acne in my teens but suddenly got in in my early 30's. He diagnosed it as a sun sensitivity. I got sunscreen makeup cover, daily pill, and night time routine. The middle of this year I had a stroke and he's been very helpful. He knows what he's talking about and makes sure you understand what he's ordered by giving you an instruction sheet after the visit. read more

Dr. Pedro was very nice and seems to be a great Dr. I saw him first time in April for a mysterious rash on my face. My first visit he told me with very much confidence that he knew exactly what I had (eczema) and how to treat it, tons of medicine and face cream!! even with insurance I am paying $300 for my prescriptions but I felt very confident in his findings so I followed his plan 100% I went for my six week follow up in June my face really had not improved at all he then said OK let's just keep at it that will be results soon I understand it takes time to get results and things don't happen instantly but when your woman in her 30s and your face has this awful rash on it he would like someone to fight a little harder for you and if the meds aren't working after 2 months let's rethink things?! I left the appointment feeling very discouraged at that point I had talk to some coworkers and they gave me another dermatologist name I then went about three days later and had an appointment with another dermatologist at that point they informed me that my diagnosis was completely wrong I do not have eczema like Dr. Pedro says I have rosacea ?!? they looked at all of my medication and told me everything I'm putting on my face would not even help if I had eczema she took me off of every cream ,lotion and pill I am now on one lotion and one pill and just after two weeks I have to say my face is looking so much better!! The redness is almost completely gone the swelling is gone and I feel like I can look in the mirror and smile again!! And it's so nice not to be on three different pills and three different creams .. I'm very grateful for Dr. Pedro but I feel like he is a older man sat in his ways and he has not wanted to do things aggressively enough and the fact that I was diagnosed with something completely different and now I seem to be healing faster just makes me wonder if he knew anything at all. I called today to cancel my appointment that was coming up in two days and the receptionist didn't even ask me why I needed to cancel or if I need to reschedule ‍ I don't know but if I was in a doctors office and somebody was calling to cancel I definitely would ask why and find out if they need to reschedule just another sign it's not meant to be. read more

I went to Dr. Pedro for an opinion on a possible MOHS surgery as my primary dermatologist biopsied a basal cell carcinoma close to my eye. I took pictures from my dermatologist to Dr. Pedro to review and he suggested that I let him "scrape" the area to make sure basal cells still existed. However, he never took a single picture, did not mark the area to "scrape", did not validate with me the site he was going to "scrape", and proceeded to numb the area from my eye to my mouth. He "scraped" a very large area the size of a dime way below the basal cell area and created a deep crater wound where I had no basal cell cancer. He operated on the WRONG AREA. He then proceeded to tell me if I just "minded him", I would never have to be cut on again. He tried to sell me supplements and compounded meds sold on the premises. I now have a large, red crater on my nose that will require laser treatments to correct. He has disfigured me unnecessarily! He refuses to speak with me, DO NOT USE! read more

Dr. Steven Pedro is a cocky, know it all, brilliant man!!! He worried me at first how for sure he was on things, but hands down knows his you know what! I was diagnosed with chronic hives and had them for over a year and a half. I went to my family doctor, immunologist, and allergist. They all did not know what to do and told me to wait it out. Some gave my steroids which made me gain a lot of weight and weaked my Immune system more. I was covered head to toe and itchy. Dr. Pedro looked at me for 10mins. BAM! Came up with a crazy concoction of medicine and I was cured. My skin is beautiful and clear! I only had to take the medicine for a few months to make sure it was gone. Dr Pedro is great but the wait time in this office is absolutely ridiculous. Expect to wait at least an hour before they take you back and another 30-45 mins before the doctor comes into the room. They seriously need to fix his issue! read more

I've been seeing Dr. Pedro for 12 years and he's amazing. He kept my skin clear all through high school and past with only a few manageable items I used for my skincare routine daily and never once had to take any prescribed medication! I also took a few vitamins because he wants to prevent, not just treat. He's very straight forward and he knows his stuff. When I first started going, the wait times to see him were almost 2 hours after my scheduled appointment time, but he's drastically improved his process over the past 4 years or so. I live in Houston now and still make the trip back to see him when needed! Won't go to another dermatologist until he retires. read more

Was so excited that they offered Saturday appointments and had read good reviews on how good of a doctor he is. I don't care how good of a "Dermatologist" you are if I have to wait to see you for over 1 1/2 hours. It's not like he's curing cancer! Dr Pedro himself is an amazing Doctor! He's really helped me with my skin problems. The front desk staff doesn't match he's professional behavior. They have been rude, over the phone and in person, and never seem to be in a good mood. They called me a day before my appointment and told me it was the next day at 3:30. I came in on time to hear that he appointment was for the day before, the day they called, and that it was my fault for missing the day. After listening to my personal information being yelled through the office and repeating told that they did nothing wrong, I agree to wait a hour and a half for to see the doctor. At that moment they choose to tell me I owe them $35 for the missed appointment. The whole thing makes me what to start seeing someone else. Dr. Pedro is a great doctor with lots of knowledge, but his staff completely ruined the experience. read more
