I must tell you all how thankful I am to Dr.'s David and Elise Burrus for the ways they have treated our kids both professionally as patients and also as caring adults. From the first visit they have asked thoughtful questions about my children regarding their dental care and needs, but also about what they like and who they are as kids. They don't just interact with me they are absolutely kid-friendly people! Their offices are inviting and warm (TV's for distractions, a fort in the waiting room, and lots of cool kid details). Their staff is friendly and they do a great job making sure my kids know exactly what is going to happen (in words kids understand) before they do anything to them. This is a blessing to me as a mom because it eases their anxiety and helps them feel safe.
Dr. David and Dr. Elise are a great team. They can usually see our kids at the same time, which helps with scheduling and they are both delightful. Dr. Elise is sweet and soft-spoken, which instantly changed my daughter 's tears into smiles on our first visit and Dr. David is enthusiastic and friendly, which completely put my son at ease. You can tell that they enjoy what they are doing and that they believe our kids are important.
A few things that I have specifically appreciated and didn't expect in a dentist; first, my son sucked two of his fingers when we started going to the dentist, Dr. David did a great job encouraging him to think about stopping without shaming or embarrassing him. By the next visit our son had stopped sucking his fingers and Dr. David gave him an opportunity to pick something out of his reward closet, which I believe was a small Lego or Minecraft set that was right up his alley. He loved it and I was blown away that they would care enough to remember to ask and that they would think to reward him with something that he valued. Another example just happened last week when we had to go back in for a few fillings and our son jumped out of the van without hesitation to go into the dentist office. I asked him if he remembered he was going in to get fillings and his response was, "yep...it's not that bad." Now of course, I don't want him to want fillings, but his response to me speaks to the way the staff and dentists at Pediatric Dental Associates care about the emotional and physical comfort of our kids in a stressful and uncomfortable situation. Lastly, Dr. Elise has been amazing too. Our daughter is an anxious sweet girl that worries about things she doesn't understand and the idea of going to the dentist was terrifying for her. At our first visit she was clinging to me and so afraid, but Dr. Elise was so gentle and kind that our daughter's fears melted. Over the past few years she has also helped ease our daughter concerns about entering into the new world of orthodontics by sharing her own personal experiences with braces.
I want you to know I don't normally write reviews for services, but I wanted to take the time to tell you about some of our experiences with Dr.'s David and Elise Burrus at Pediatric Dental Associates because they are worth it. They have kid-friendly, welcoming offices in both Bend and Redmond. I would highly recommend you check them out for your kid's dental needs. They will take good care of your kid's teeth and it will be fun in the process. read more
