About 3 blocks from the river walk so super convenient to rent bikes here. We walked in and about 15 minutes later we were set up and on our way. These guys are quick and efficient. Maybe too quick. I should have tested out the seat before taking off. It wasn't until I was down at the river walk that I realized I had a problem with my seat. Oh well.... I shoulda / coulda gone back to the shop but I didn't. I knew I wasn't going to last long on the bike with it being so hot outside so I just managed with a loose seat. We did a few miles along the river enjoying the area before I turned into a melty mess with rubber legs. (I had not been on a bike in several years.... Good thing I remembered how. Ha!) read more

Me and my boyfriend randomly decided to take a trip somewhere for two days and went to check out Durango. We came across this bike shop and thought about going riding since we usually do that here in Albuquerque on our trails and the fact that Durango is so pretty called our attention to get a little workout in while on vacation. We went to the shop and the service was AMAZING!! The owner was so friendly and knowledgeable and suggested a trail that we fell in love with. It was super affordable and convenient. 11/10 recommend. It was literally the highlight of my trip lol We wish we had something like this in our city! The views and scenery in Durango just put the cherry on top. read more

I ordered a bike part through the store and was told by the clerk that it would ship within a week. 12 days later I stopped in to see if it had arrived and after the same clerk spent 5 minutes searching on his computer he said that it would arrive in about a week. I told him that is what he said 12 days ago and he had no response. I suspect that he never ordered the part and was covering his tracks. I went home and ordered the part directly through the bike company. It arrived two days later. So much for customer service. Will never visit this business again. read more

Popped in to find out about bike rentals so that we could explore Durango. Within 15 minutes we were pedaling our way to the Animas River Trail. We came from out of town and I had an issue with my mountain bike where the gears weren't shifting correctly. Dave looked at my rear derailleur and immediately saw the problem of a cable hanging out and a part being broken. He was able to fix it within a half hour and I got my bike back the same day! Price was extremely reasonable and I definitely will come back if I'm in town and have any bike needs! The place is very well designed (check out the reserved parking and the awesome ramp in the back where you bring your bike in). Rented a Transition Smuggler this weekend. The Smuggler was one of the best bikes I have been on riding the trails around Durango. The weight distribution, suspension, and wide handle bar made the ride more comfortable than other bikes for me. The adjustable seat with the push of a button was a nice addition. While we were only able to do some of the trails in Horse Gulch in our limited time visiting family in Durango, riding this bike was a great experience. I've always wanted to bring my MTB to Durango but haven't been able to. I went to Pedal the Peaks and they set me up with a fantastic bike! Benjamin set up the new Ibis Ripmo to fit my 6'4" 230lb frame to perfection and then gave me my options for trails in the area. I have a cabin near Purgatory and we've watched business come and go in Durango for 25 years. We live in Santa Barbara and come here often. I brought some used bikes to leave throughout the years. I called several bike shops for repairs needed and prices for tune ups. Pedal the Peaks was the most friendly, accommodating and affordable for my used bike repairs. I see a lot of reviews here for rental bikes...but want to chime in about my bike repair experience. I called on a Saturday asking what their turn around time was on repair, and when they could fit me in...the person that answered was friendly and said I could bring it in right now if I wanted. I was pleasantly surprised because most bike shops in town answer as if you're interrupting them, and laugh when you ask them if you could bring your bike in for same day service. Turned out to be the owner, and that makes a world of difference having the owner take an active role when it comes to customer service. I ride hard and break stuff constantly. My wife and I were only in Durango for a day during our Colorado road trip and wanted to get the most out of the town. I asked our hotel about renting bicycles and they referred me to Monty's (Durango Cyclery). Monty's does NOT rent bikes. I then found Pedal the Peaks and couldn't have been more pleased. Conveniently located downtown, seconds from the Durango-Silverton Train & Museum and only a few blocks from the center point of the Animas River Trail. The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating with lots of suggestions for us out-of-towners. We renting cruising bikes and spent 2-3 hours riding the Animas River Trail, stopping at a few breweries and other shops in town. He even provided us with a couple water bottles and bike locks. This was the best way for us to check out Durango given our short stay here and we had a truly unique experience thanks to Pedal the Peaks! read more

David was terrific as was the rest of the staff. We had gone to Purgatory but after a 90 minute lightning hold, we gave up and came back to town. Went to Pedal the Peaks to grab bikes around 3. While shop was super friendly and gave us good recommendation for the town bike trail along the river. Bikes were good for town trail. Really affordable rental bikes, from starter full suspension up to some carbon full suspension MTBs! I rented the Catch 1 and tackled a ton of terrain in Durango, all of which Dave (the owner) showed me on a map, and he took the time to understand my abilities (seeing as I'm from sea level) and what I was hoping to get out of my rides. And at the end of my time with the bike, the staff was great at answering my questions about the suspension setup, so I can take some learnings back home with me. read more

On the home stretch of a Four Corners road trip with my boys. Stopped along Main St. for breakfast and noticed PtP. My youngest was excited because he wanted to ride bike on a nearby BMX park. Best place in Durango to rent bikes. They are right by the train station so easy access to the Animas River Trail, or riding up College Ave to Fort Lewis. Friendly customer service too. We had so much fun! We've used them twice for bike rentals while visiting the grandparents. I was in town for just 24 hours so I rented a brand new Intense 29er at noon to return the next day. Dave (owner) and Allison were great and made the process go quick and easy. Dave gave me one 12 mile loop for an afternoon ride and a second 25 miler for the next morning. Good shop, very fair rates, great people, and a perfect location for riding in Durango. Great place to rent a mountain bike and stock up on essentials. They were very accommodating with our last minute rental and we were able to rent for half a day, which is not possible at all shops. The 3 mountain bikes we rented were in great shape and were perfect for the amazing trails that can be ridden to right from the shop.
