Honestly I spent very little time in this shop - I saw a clearance rack right when I walked by, came in, and found a super soft and comfy tank top for $12 that I immediately bought. Clearly this is a sports goods and shoe store - I saw a few throughout Colorado so it isn't only found in Durango. This place is amazing! Every kind of active shoe you can imagine. For any time of the year. High quality flip flops and water shoes, tennis shoes, running shoes, hiking shoes/boots, work shoes etc. Plus, hundreds of socks - athletic socks, hiking socks, performance socks, and a lot of insoles. Plus, clothes. Yoga pants, shorts, tshirts, long sleeve running shirts, shorts, zip up jackets, light jackets, insulated skirts - basically all kinds of performance outerwear with wicking. Not ski gear though. Plus, other outdoors and sports gear like hydration packs, water bottles, etc. they have all the high quality brands, Chacos, Altra, Brooks, Merrel, Lems, Saucony, New Balance, Hoka, Saloman, Obōz, Teva, Swiftwick, and more. Shout out to Wyatt! He is SO knowledgeable and SO helpful. He knew EVERYTHING there is to know about shoes, feet, and recommending the right shoes for your needs. He helped us so much. I'm so excited for my new Chacos slippahs (flip flops) - they have serious arch support! He said they were top rated and I can feel it. I need arch support and my Vionics died way too fast, so looking forward to these. I've had a regular pair of Chacos that I love and lasted for years and never knew they had slip on options. We also got my husband some work shoes which he said feel amazing, both comfortable and affordable. Brooks and Hoka. He spends all day on his feet so needs something that helps his feet and back. I just moved to Durango and decided to visit one of the local shops on main st. and got directed towards Brown's Sport Shoe for the Teva Zilch they did not carry at the local outdoors company. I went there the next day and asked them to hold a pair of the Teva's till myself or my dad stopped by the next day to pick them up. I came the next day and picked them up at around three... and the same nice gal who helped me the day before was very friendly and pulled them from behind the counter for me. I took them home, and tried them on a couple hours later and wore them around my apartment. I noticed the 9 and a 1/2 zilches didn't fit as well as i thought... after messing around with the straps, and the toe loop... it was putting alot of unwanted pressure around my big toe. I went back the next day to try on a size nine and see if the problem was helped, and to exchange them. I met a salesmen that had saw me a few days earlier try on the Zilch and i guess he had though i purchased them on that day. I told him i had just came in the following evening and purchased them and wanted to see if a size 9 suited me better. He immediately told me i didn't purchase them yesterday, and i said he must be mistaken. He looked at the receipt and was embarrassed to see i had picked them up when i said. He apologized, but kept on making me feel uncomfortable for trying on a size 9. He must not know as much as he thinks about minimalist footwear because the nine fit nice and snug as a pair of vibrams do. Alls i have to say is... local businesses need to be more friendly and hospitalble to there customers more now than ever. I don't know if he was the manager or owner, but he definitely needs a lesson on customer service, and maybe looking at the reciept before he starts making accusations!!! I want to support local businesses, but not when i get treated like that. Thats why most people choose to there business online. I will just order my shoes online from the company next time... they don't ridicule, accuse, and make you feel uncomfortable for exchanging the shoe for a more comfortable fit. In the end he did exchange the sandals for me, but he didn't have to make it so uncomfortable. I won't be back, and will definitely not send any of my friends or family there! read more

I have always experienced very good customer service when I go to Brown's Sport Shoe. (The same cannot be said for their sister store across the street and I recommend avoiding Brown's Shoe Fit.) Recently I purchased a pair of hiking shoes at Brown's Sport Shoe and they began to separate around the sole within a month. I went back to Brown's and they took them back and exchanged them for a new pair with no questions asked. They let me know that if I had any problems with the new pair they would be happy to refund me the full amount of the purchase. I have had no problems with the new pair at all. Today I was looking for a specific color of shoe that they did not have. they immediately offered to special order it, and overnight express it to my house free of charge. In addition, I had a coupon for $10 off that did not apply toward my purchase, but he gave me $10 off anyway. I am appreciative of good customer service and will return here to do business any time I need new shoes. read more

I have been in Brown's Shoes a few times when I am able to accompany my sister to Durango. Initially it was shocking to me how expensive their shoes are. I did recently pony up for a pair of shoes which were $160. Yikes! I really liked them and knew I would wear them often. After three weeks both shoes started to split so I went on their website to contact them and ask what action I should take. I emailed them on both email addresses and waited a couple of days each time to hear back from them. NADA. So, I called them and got the information I needed to return or get a refund. My 2nd time visiting this store in Durango. A rare find these days, with high end, quality shoes for all types of activities. We purchased snow boots by Merrill which turned out to be perfect for the weather. The service is friendly, very patient and helpful. It doesn't get any better than this folks ! Adam Carr is the world's best shoe salesman. The entire experience was amazing ! We wandered in off the street and both bought shoes from him because of his knowledge and attention to detail. We live in Denver and will order through this store from now on.
