Look, it was completely accidental that I found out about this festival and I dont know what god to…read morethank but this was the best thing that could ever have happened on a trip to Scranton. I lived on the east coast for over 20 years - mostly in Boston and NY, but I then moved to Chicago and Louisville. And while I love those places there is absolutely no "Italian" food to speak of. I didn't realize what a deficit I had been in until I saw what was offered here. Fresh cannoli, eggplant parmigiana pizza, WHITE PIZZA (IYKYK), sausage and peppers, beef sandwiches, and the thing that really brought me to my knees - tomato pie. For those that dont know, tomato pie is a thick slathering of tomato sauce on a thick piece of dough, and a bit of parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. It is so simple, yet SO GODDAMNED DELICIOUS. I remember having it all the time as a kid and when I moved to Chicago people thought I was crazy when I asked about it. They thought I was looking for that elementary school pizza that is cut into squares. That stuff is NOT the same and when I saw real! tomato! pie! here I threw my wallet at them and said take my money. Now before you think I was here simply to gorge myself and be rolled out like Violet Beauregarde in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory you would be correct, but also there was music, and entertainment, and the people watching was elite. I plan on returning every year until I die. Thank you for giving me my fix, La Festa, you have no idea how badly I needed it!

Other than my family, this is the reason to return to Scranton each Labor Day weekend…read more Great music Good times and amazing food It's not all Italian cuisine There's something for everyone However My favorite Porketta sandwich is there and I get at least one every year.. Obviously pizza and every Italian pastry you could ever want to try Best cannolis There's plenty of parking in garages surrounding the square The only thing I wish they would change is to add alcohol sales Beer wine and Prosecco would make this better than at paddy's day in my opinion

Normally I have a pleasant and accommodating experience this time in particular I had one of the worst customer experiences ever. The host came up to me and began with attitude re-taking the order I already placed on Wednesday when I stopped in to drop off decorations. I handled her with grace because this was my son's special day. She then put in my order. My guests began to arrive and I did not see my host. I went to place an additional order for the 15 adults I was hosting at the party. We returned to the party area and I went to the kitchen to pick up the food for my adult guests. I asked about the order for the children and she said it was coming up. I heard the announcement for food on the loud speaker so I gathered the additional children who were not at the table. When I returned to the table the host served three pieces of pizza and then walked away. I then asked the rest of the kids what they wanted to eat as one of my other guests helped with the remaining food service. I went in the kitchen to grab the large order of wings and an additional BBQ chicken pie and saw the manager and hosts bringing out Dippin Dots while the pizza and food was still being served. That was at 3:30 my party started at 3 to 5. I was then told that everything is on a time limit and the ice cream cannot be served with the cake and cupcakes. Again I handled them with grace. The children went and enjoyed the festivities. I walked back to see another child in the ticket blaster. I then asked an associate to please grab my host so we could go next. The host arrived and my sister asked if she was having a bad day just because of her demeanor and poor customer service. She then said that she has had a problem all day with our party and that she was sick of "You People" telling her what to do. I then asked if I could speak to her manager. While she proceeded to argue with my sister and other guests. The manager approached and was immediately on the defense. Before I even said a few words she stated that she was the BEST HOST she had...We exchanged words and she dismissed every claim against the host. I then asked for her card and she told me that she ran the place. My cake was never cut and the host never returned for the remainder of the party. The manager gave me the bill and we gave the rude host a $30 tip. Horrible service!!!!!!

Although I liked having the cup of coins, it was nice not to keep track of tickets, etc. The staff was very friendly- shout out to Sierra who made everything seamless and explained the different packages available. On top of it, this location is so clean!! Based off this visit we will probably get a package and make this location our primary one- we may even book her 3rd birthday party there! Great job everyone, thanks for a fun afternoon!

Because it was officially closed, there were very few people visiting and there was plenty of parking, so that definitely added to my personal enjoyment of the experience. We were able to walk around and enjoy the incredible collection of locomotives and historic rail yard but the star of the collection is the "Big Boy" locomotive. It's one of the largest and most powerful steam engines ever built. It's huge. It was cool to see the massive wheels and be able to read and learn about this amazing machine. This is the second "Big Boy" I have seen and the first was surrounded by a fence, so being able to get up close and personal with this one was exciting. While checking out the trains, a local gentleman who was walking his dog struck up a conversation with us and was very chatty and friendly. He offered suggestions for other places to visit in the area and gave us some great info. Our dogs also enjoyed getting to know each other. It would have been nice if the building had been open and we could have gone inside and learned more, but I'm glad for the private time that I had to enjoy the site and reflect on the beauty of the machines. We probably spent almost an hour walking around the yard with our dog and soaking it all in. You could spend quite a while here even without tours or ticketed exhibits and if you do come, the trolley ride in the area is a must, but that is for a different review...

A lot of the exhibits have interactive aspects which made it, quite literally, a hands-on experience. They offer a short out-and-back train ride on some days, so be sure to check the schedule if that's something that is of interest to you. The rangers were great - very friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the talk provided during the train ride. There is a gift shop onsite, restrooms are clean, and a nice large shared parking lot with an adjacent picnic area is available.
