Great place. I present a bonsai class, and get all my supplies there. They have great selection of very high-quality plants, as well. Best of all, everyone who works there is a woman. One of the best greenhouses you'll find in the state. Walking around this floral haven on a warm spring day brings almost as much joy as the plants you walk out with. You'll find a wide array of species and helpful staff to answer any questions. We bought some topiaries and they happily planted them for us In the new pots we bought from there. My FAVORITE plant nursery ever. They have a wide selection of outdoor & indoor plants. It's located not too far from some beaches & is the quaintest nursery. It truly feels like a New England gem. I drive about 45 minutes to come here any time of year. Them being open all year round is so wonderful. Ive been to many greenhouses in RI and have to say this one is by far my favorite. I stop in to walk around regularly! It's beautiful, all the plants are so well taken care of and the staff is super helpful. I've never had a bad experience with neither plant, nor staff. It's bigger than it appears from the outside and has so many little hidden gems as far as house plants go! from Hoya plants, succulents, begonias, to air plants, and even Venus fly traps. I started getting into caring for plants last year and have loved it tremendously, but have to admit it can get pricey, so it's really wonderful to find a place that has gorgeous, well taken care of plants, at very reasonable prices. There is truly something for every type of plant person, beginner or not, and even if you have no interest in owning plants, simply walking through this place is lovely. read more

I'm not much of a gardener but my partner is and while she abstains from Yelping about any business I shall try to provide my thoughts on this horticultural haven. The spot is perfectly charming with much to see and dozens of little spots showcasing plants, flowers, pots and ornaments to adorn and beautify your green-space. There are plenty of helpful gardeners wandering around the premises whom you can call upon for guidance. I found myself a seat in the sun while my lady rubbed the leaves took in the scents and lost herself in visions of creating a secret garden. There is a restaurant I once went to in London that was attached to an equally beautiful garden center and since I dined there I have felt we need something like it in Rhode Island. I feel this would be the perfect place for a outdoor wine bar or a sip and shop theme. Maybe I am getting lost in thought but I feel that may be part of the fun of Peckham's Garden. read more

They've got plenty of nooks and crannies to get lost in, ogling plants. The prices are decent considering they've got a monopoly in the area and the quality of seasonal plants is very good. However, upon asking an employee if she could recommend any plants that do well in bright sun and are cat friendly, she sort of shrugged and said, I think any plant would do. Then she walked away. Um, OK. Good thing I had my smartphone so I could do the research myself. So if you know you're plants and what you're looking for then Peckham's is great. Otherwise, I can't really recommend their plant buying advice. Or lack thereof. read more

I'm very familiar with many many of the local garden centers in southern and eastern Rhode Island. Peckham's is by far my favorite and I routinely drive the 30 minutes to get there bypassing over a dozen others on the way. Their prices are quite low in comparison to most others, I have yet to find a cheaper one not called Walmart. In addition, their selection is HUGE! loads of indoor plants available and in very nice condition. Their tree, shrub and vine selection is better than anywhere else except for the farmers daughter in N. Kingston, but you'll pay top dollar there. Great selection, Great prices and Great ownership. Although when it's a busy spring weekend you'll probably find yourself in a slow line. Highly recommended! read more

Ooooooooooooookay....Peckham's Greenhouse, where do I start? Well, I guess I'll start with the pros and save the big, gargantuan sized con for after. Okay now then, I'll explain the good points, which are many. The selection is awesome, and the staff members take good care of the plants...it's always nice to go to a nursery/greenhouse and see a selection of HEALTHY potted plants, lacking in the brown leaves department *cough*Wal-Mart*cough*, amongst other places. Also, the staff members themselves are always asking if you need any help with anything and seem to have, for the most part, a decent knowledge of horticulture, always a plus. The prices themselves are not dirt cheap (no pun intended!), but of course you do get what you pay for, and the quality is normally good, and I'm sure there are other places that would charge much more anyway for crappier quality. Now, on to my problem with Peckham's. It's the only problem I do have, but It's big enough to keep me from ever going there again. In fact, I'm going to take their pamphlet I kept the first time I went there and was impressed and throw it directly in my fire pit and toast some delicious s'mores tasting of satisfaction over it! I make myself laugh, I truly do...The owner, Rick, was so rude to me when I asked a simple question about a return. Rude is an understatement, actually. Now, I am "green" to the whole gardening/landscaping deal. In fact, this is my first year trying it out, just to give some background about myself in this hobby. Hence the reason why I called and asked this particular question. What happened was I bought a perennial costing $8.95, which is a good price, don't get me wrong. But when I went to plant it, I got it into the dirt and began to press around it, ensuring it took the soil/compost like I always do, and the whole top of the plant broke off. Obviously, I saved the receipt and called back, and I explained my situation to him and asked if I bring the broken plant in with my receipt if they'll give me a refund/new plant. The conversation went as such: Rick: "Whose fault was it? Was it OUR fault you did that to the plant?" Me: "Well, no, obviously it was an accident by me, but I DO have the receipt and I was just wondering if I could.... Rick, cutting me off: "What do you think it is??? An ice cream cone or something??? You expect a free plant from US? That's an $8.95 plant ya know." Me: "I understand that, and I realize that, and if I have to pay for another plant, that's okay, but I was only curious." Rick: "Well whoop-de-doo, you just got yourself a free plant, you happy now?" Me: "You know something? Don't even bother. Thanks anyway." (click) Okay, if I knew I couldn't exchange it, do you think I would call? Ya know, I'm not omnipotent, so I am so sorry, Rick, for bothering you, gods forbid. I am only a curious customer asking about a simple policy, I meant you no harm, I promise. And no, I wasn't born yesterday, I know a plant is a tad different than an ice cream cone, but because I am new to gardening and had no clue whether you do refunds or not....guess what, asshole? I CALLED!!! HURRAH FOR ME!!! I WANTED TO MAKE SURE SO I KNEW WHETHER OR NOT I WAS GOING TO SPEND ANOTHER 9 BUCKS OR NOT!!! WOW! JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CAUTIOUS PERSON...Now, don't get me wrong, a policy is a policy, and that's not at all what I had a problem with...it's the way I was treated and spoken to over the phone. I work at a grocery store and If a customer is pissing me off I bite my tongue, go home, and open a bottle of ol' grand dad...not insult them for asking a simple question, and I wasn't being rude to him or asking him in an abrasive way by any means, only because I do know mean people can simply suck, and why ruin someone's day anyway? But anywho, that's my big gripe about Peckham's and I will NOT be going back because of this. But that's just me personally, and I really can put up with a lot of crap, too. read more

This is my favorite greenhouse/nursery ever (and I've been to quite a few). Plants are always great quality, and a great price. Peckham's tends to have unusual varieties, and this is especially true if you are into herbs. They have really unusual herbs in their greenhouse, along with a wonderful selection of unique succulents. I usually shop here for annuals, and the selection and price for annuals are great. I know less about their perrenials and shrubs and trees. They look great, but I don't know about their prices on these because I've never looked. Garden decor and planters are wicked cool, and there is always a section filled with marked-down items. Greenhouses and the grounds are fun to roam over for a while. Location is beautiful and rural-feeling in Little Compton (which, in my book, is the prettiest town in New England). Parking is ample, but it is scary to pull out of a parking space because it can be hard to see if someone is coming. Try to park away from other cars which will block your view. You'll know what I'm talking about when you go. read more

Firstly, this greenhouse is very close to my heart. My mother shopped there when i was a kid, and i now shop there with my daughters. Everytime we come we love to feed the fishies and and look at the terrariums and miniature gardens. I imagine one day they will be there shopping with my grandchildren in tow. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the quality of the plants are amazing. We also get our wreaths and holiday plants there every year which is another fun experience for our family. I bring all my friends here, and i would recommend this place to anyone! read more

I absolutely LOVE coming to Peckham's. First off, everyone is so kind. The only name I remember is Laura and she is as sweet as pie. So helpful. So sweet. I have two little girls who storm the place and it is never an issue. The fact that Peckham's is kid friendly makes going such a joy because at somewhere my girls can happily wander and the staff kindly walks them back to me when one slips away while I'm chasing after the other. All of the plants here are gorgeous. There is a succulent selection like I have never seen. We liked to visit weekly but are moving. I'll certainly visit each time we are in town. Visiting Peckham's Greenhouse is like visiting an arboretum greenhouse. The selection of unusual, rare and specimen plants is unrivaled in the area. The fragrances, the colors bring a ray of sunshine even on a cold wintery day. The owner is knowledgable and the staff very helpful. I have been a customer of Peckham now for more than thirty five years. I know the owners well and they know me as i turn out every season to look around and come home having spent most of the cash I had in savings It is easy to do because the selection of plants is surprising good and the service near perfect. If one feels blue it is the perfect place to go ,even in the winter when all is gray there are always flowers at Peckham and a smile to greet you. Try to go to it you will see for yourself.
