I'm a local photographer and every winter I take photos at a local tree farm. My regular farm was unavailable so I called around other local places. I was referred to Patchet Brook by someone, and I'm so glad I listened to their advice. The owners at the farm are incredibly nice! They were super accommodating and welcomed everyone with warm smiles and open arms. The trees are gorgeous!! They might be the best looking tree farm I've ever seen. It's in a secluded area, so it's quiet and just gorgeous. An ideal spot for a photographer! I just fell in love with this farm. From the people to the trees! Oh hi, welcome to the most magical Christmas Tree farm on earth. Yeah there are hayrides, and yes there's a mystical mutli-acre forest of the biggest and fattest Christmas trees in varieties that your eyes have never seen! So what are the drawbacks? It certainly isn't the tray of freshly baked cookies inside, and definitely not the hot chocolate with little marshmallow snowmen. It couldn't be that they also have bonfires every once in a while or all the perky people working there. Ignore all those signs for tree farms that will try to pull you in on your way, even the one that offers "a free bag of potatoes" (seriously?) and $45 trees. Just follow the red Pachet Brook Tree Farm signs. The trees here will cost you anywhere from $35-$150 but plan for about $100 which might sound like crazy-talk, but they have some pretty beautiful trees and it's worth spending the afternoon frolicking through the giant Christmas Tree forest, finding hidden surprises and picking a tree. When you're done, tag your tree, or get a guy to saw it down for you. Or, bring your own saw, they probably wouldn't care. They also tie everything up for you too and accept tips. *******UPDATE to my review below: Owner of Pachet Brook emailed me after my review posted and apologized for the treatment my family experienced. She also offered the tree for free. And the person who confronted us would be dealt with she said. Her quick response and apology goes a long way and we appreciate it. As I told her I assume, and hope, this particular person does not reflect on her and all the other hard working people on the farm. ********* Just went to Pachet brook with my family to get at Christmas tree as heard it was a great place, sorry to say it was the worst Christmas tree experience I've EVER had with my family. You must find a worker to give you a tag where the trees are, but it says that nowhere, then you have to drive down to a barn and go inside to show that tag and pay. I did not realize this because there is nothing, no signs or anything that says this anywhere. When I went to pay I showed the lady the RED tag that was on the tree, this was a PRE-CUT tree that my little 5 year old boy had wanted along with my wife and parents.The lady at counter said I had to go back up the road and get a slip from a worker for price, then come back. Ok no problem then will do that. When I went out the door there was an old guy who looked drunk, very glassy eyes in front of the barn area. But I showed him the red tag from tree and said I needed a slip to pay would that be okay. He just say's... "that's not a red tag tree". I told him my whole family here just picked it out and yes it was, we all saw the tag on it so why would it not be? He insisted it was not, so calling me a liar or wanting me to pay more. My entire family ALL SAW THE RED TAG WHEN WE PICKED IT OUT to check the price!!So now my entire family are liars and we came there to screw them on a $65.00 Christmas tree I guess, wow! I told him I'm not playing games, my whole family is here waiting to buy a tree, so he can take the tree back then if he's calling me a liar. He grabbed tree out of my truck and YELLED at me and my whole family to F!@! OFF and get out of here! And go on facebook and review us...so I'm going to more than just facebook buddy. Wanted a nice experience with family but got a drunk yelling at me and calling me and my mother, father, and wife liars and scaring my kids. Lot's and lot's of other family friendly farms around that help you out with a smile, organized, and much better prices. read more

I come to this farm every year because they have the best trees in the area, hands down. This year I scored a Noble Fir which is unheard of in New England unless it's pre-cut. BUT, they could do so much to make the experience itself better. First of all, if you don't come in November and tag a tree early, your pickings are going to be slim. I didn't even know this was a thing, but apparently it is at this farm. I've never done it myself, but my friends do. If you arrive in the second weekend of December, you will have slim pickings. They don't let you cut down your own tree. You have to have one of the employees do it and there can be quite a wait if it's a busy weekend. But again, if you pick your tree in advance, they will cut it and have it waiting for you on the day of your choosing. I've heard they advertise cookies and hot chocolate, but know that they charge for this stuff. Also, it's in the office area which is a house that clearly is smoked in and has been for a long time. They have crafts, candles and stuffed animals for sale in there too...I'd love to shop, but have zero interest in bringing smoky smelling merchandise home. I don't want their smoky cookies either. :/ All that aside, the staff is always wonderful. I tip the guys who help load and wrap the trees. They also have a hayride that takes about 15 minutes or so. It's not too exciting, but the kids love it. There's also usually a bonfire going too, which is nice on chilly days. Basically, take this place for what it is. If you pack your own thermos of spiked hot chocolate and come prepared for an adventure, you'll be fine. The farms shortcomings are well worth the quality of the trees. OH, one more thing - they don't take credit cards. Cash or check only! Merry Christmas! read more

This is a really charming farm, with a lovely duck pond and far reaching tree groves with soft pine needles covering the ground. I loved the look of it. I really would have liked to have got a tree from them, but by December 10, after searching through four full plots we couldn't find a single tree that was for sale except for the ones in the 6-8 foot range (and $80-$130+ range). Every tree that was marked for sale had already been tagged - seriously, every one. There was a huge supply of other lovely trees but none were for sale. Also the color coding by tag for pricing was overly complicated (not easy for example to tell orange/white strip from red/white strip from a distance). We laughed when we finally found some small trees with colored tags... a line of 16" seedlings. Obviously it meant something else. They don't take credit cards, which is understandable for a farm, but be prepared. Overall, nice place, great variety of species, but limited selection of "for sale" trees, and clearly you have to tag early to have any chance at all. read more

Tricky review. The property is beautiful, but be prepared to drive up a bumpy road of little rocks. We stopped by here thinking we could grab a few pumpkins. Staff was not very welcoming and inside smelled of cigarettes. I asked to use the restroom and they pointed me to two outhouses far out in the back field. Luckily there was a nice little girl who took me upstairs to a nicer bathroom. They wanted us to go on a hayride but gave us nothing to do until it arrived 10 minutes later. On a cold, brisk day, I don't want to be jammed inside a smelly indoor space. We left within minutes. They didn't even ask us if we wanted to buy a pumpkin. read more

If you're looking for a tree of magnificence, distinction and honor... come here! We tried this place for the first time in late November with our dog (yes, they allow dogs) and had no trouble finding a bajillion trees to chose from. There were plenty of tagged trees, but definitely still hundreds to choose from in all sizes. This place is really cool, best tree farm I'm found so far. Ours was about 8ft tall and they have ones easily 12ft, 15ft, 20ft and beyond. Bring cash though, no credit cards accepted. And be careful driving up the one-lane road that leads to the tree farm parking area. Guys will help you strap the tree onto your car and everything, so don't worry about that. read more

Was extremely unimpressed with our first visit. They were advertised as a "family friendly" experience. They spoke of fire pits, hot chocolate and fresh baked cookies for the kids. When we arrived to select the tree there was no outdoor fire, no cookies for the kids and a pot of hot water and powder mix for hot chocolate, which they charged $1.00 for each cup. The tree selection was fine but extremely overpriced. We paid $75.00 for a tree that only stood 6ft. tall. In addition, they had the nerve to charge an additional $2.00 to have twine wrapped around so it was easier to transport. When it was time to pick up the tree I decided to go myself as there was little enjoyment for the kids. When I arrived, they had the same setup for hot chocolate and also cookies but they charged $1.00 for each cookie and the same for each cup. I could not believe they had the nerve to charge additional funds for something so minor. I would have thought paying such a high price for a tree would have been enough. When I walked up the hill to have the tree cut down there was an extremely large sign that read "Tips are appreciated"! Are you absolutely kidding me? You were made to feel obligated to tip the gentleman that cut the tree down. Absolutely absurd! I have been to multiple tree farms throughout the years and I have never had an experience so poor as this. It is important for all to understand the misrepresentation with this organization. 1. You will pay a minimum of $75.00 for a tree 2. Good luck arriving on a day they decide to light the fire pit 3. Be prepared to spend $1.00 for each cup of hot chocolate and cookie for your children. (if they're actually available) 4. Pay an additional $2.00 to have the tree wrapped for transport. 5. Generously tip the individual cutting the tree down If you select the most basic of trees available you will probably not escape for less than $100.00.
