Denno's International Gifts is an amalgam of Middle Eastern, African, and a few American wares…read more The shelves are stocked with olive wood carvings from Jerusalem, Syrian jewelry boxes, Ohio Amish chess boards, Egyptian perfume bottles, African masks, and tons of other, frankly, amazing imports. Denno himself travels annually to restore his stock, and he knows where and from whom everything comes. He was very friendly and easy going, encouraging my wife and me to pick things up and check them out. With the Christmas shopping season just around the corner, Denno's International Gifts is the perfect place to find unique presents for everyone. We picked up a Christmas ornament and even crossed off a couple recipients from our own shopping lists.

As if there aren't enough gift shops already, Northgate Mall has another one: Just For You (that's…read morekind of a pun, but surely unintended). Just For You is somewhat reminding of its close neighbor at the mall, Abby's Hallmark (I had no idea Abby had a Hallmark), but they do offer a variety of distinguishing gift items. They carry items from nearly 20 lines including Swarovski Crystal, Precious Moments (figurines), Willow Tree angels, Yankee Candle, Lenox Classics Collection, and Walt Disney Classics. I also saw Webkinz and they feature the pet of the month. I always find the Yankee Candles to be funny, and I guess they are right when they say "Just For You." Giving candles is a bit cliché and unoriginal at this point, so your best bet is buying one for yourself. Just a thought. Some of the other gift items at the store include the typical handbags and mugs, while they also have lots of gift wrap, gift bags, and good greeting cards. One of the funnier collections of items I saw near the back of the store was money jars with funny sayings on them such as Boob Job Money, Beer Money, and Party Money. I guess they could be somewhat of a gag gift, but what does that say about you or the recipient of the gift if you hand them a "Boob Job" savings jar? Hey, just another thought. Overall, Just For You is a pretty good store and the staff is friendly. It's nothing special, but they do have a decent collection of gifts and it's worth checking out if you are already shopping at Northgate Mall.
