Probably my favorite public course...can't beat the price if you're an NCGA member for an amazing…read morePebble Beach Golf experience. Although it's on the Del Monte Forest side and no Ocean holes, the course is still beautiful and challenging with a mix of long and shorter holes, with sloping fairways, lots of bunkers, and difficult greens where you need to be strategic on approach shots, so it helps to play here a few times to get used to them. The course was in terrific shape today and pace was very good...finishing in a 4.5 hour round despite our group having lost a few balls along the way in the woods or thick native areas. I will say there were a few changes since I last played and I didn't remember it having so many waste bunkers everywhere the last time I came, which was at least 7 years ago. Although many people walk, I enjoyed having a cart because it's a rolling course and it can be quite a walk on a few holes to the next tee. I do wonder why they still don't have GPS on their carts. I would also suggest that they add some EV car chargers in the parking lot. Many of us drive 2 hours or more to get here so it would be a nice touch to be able to charge up the car a bit during a round, or while having a beverage or two in Porters before hitting the road! It's been too long since I last visited and I won't wait that long again for sure!

Challenging layout. I think only water on 1 hole (??). I loved the trees. My son loved the beach. Lost balls were not a problem...thankfully. I would definitely play again in the future.

(Rustic Canyon is runner up, but it's not that close). They are stunning in every way and then some other ways, too. Wow. Just wow. It's hard to believe there are people who get to play these courses whenever they want to. Again, wow.

How private? 1100 members and you can only play if you are a member (must be invited) or invited as a guest. Now I have played MPCC , Spyglass, Pebble (twice) , Cypress and Poppy. If you are fortunate to play this course, the Dunes is actually the more prestigious over the Ocean/Shore course. Most members walk with a push cart. Although I am used to carrying my own bag, I am glad I used a push cart. Our round started at 11am and ended at almost 3pm on the dot. The course has likely the most undulating greens I have ever played, so bring your short game and be prepared for 3 putts. As a middle handicapper I highly recommend playing the blue tees. The white tees were probably a little too close for me. I played true to my 17 handicap bogeying every hole except the 18 handicap signature 14th hole. The amenities were all there. Tees, ball markers, balls, score cards, water, towels, etc. They even had golf carts available on the 11th hole in case you were running late or got tired and wanted to ride the rest of the way. If you are knit-picking the only bad part is a restaurant that isn't available til the 12th hole or someone driving around with a food cart. Some points of note. There is no signage telling you what hole you are on so it is good to be playing with a member. Covid protocols are in place so it is wise to bring ID and vaccination. No shorts or jeans are allowed. Pants and collared shirts are required and the shirts must be tucked in. Women must also wear gear that goes to the calf. My friend's wife was wearing expensive designer jeans and even she knew to go inside and buy a whole new wardrobe for the day. The course was well manicured and one of the most naturally beautiful courses I have ever played. All the staff were exceptional, friendly, and attentive.

Flew into Monterey, felt like stepping off a private jet onto the tarmac, this is how the 1% lives. We golfed at Pebble Beach (bucket list) one day and Spyglass the second day (another bucket list item). The golf was picture perfect, the 18th hole on Pebble right along the ocean, drives to remember for a lifetime. Both courses were beautiful and everything was first class all the way. You are assigned a caddy, just like the pros, really fun. I think these guys make more than doctors, big dollars fall into their hands, but they make it enjoyable and fun. This is the kind of trip you dream about and it did not disappoint. The restaurants were 5 stars, ribeyes/steaks and seafood every night, even the breakfast spot we went to in the morning was amazing, cinnamon rolls the size of dinner plates. The Hotel had a gym that was better than many gyms you pay a membership for, new, huge, great equipment, great views. A spa with a steam room, locker room and showers, wood lockers, old money style, Just the way you picture it when living it up. Every dream sports car/luxury car parked in front of the hotel. My four stars is not anything to do with the experience, I would not trade it for the World and am very, very grateful for the opportunity to experience it. The golf, the hotel, the service, the restaurants, etc. first class all the way. Where I struggle a bit is just the excess here and the expense of a trip like this, I would have never spent this kind of money if it was not connected to building a Business relationship. I spent Easily over $30,000 for us all. Amazing, but excessive. Enjoy!

Links is one of my favorite spots in Carmel, and is one of the places regularly on my list whenever I go back. Carmel-by-the-Sea isn't necessarily known for the bar scene, but Links offers an excellent option for anyone looking to extend their night and keep the fun going! They have a pretty extensive menu of food and drinks. The food is pretty standard bar fare, but with no shortage of options. The drink selection is quite varied as well, with a good selection of beers on tap. Service has always been exemplary when I've been here - the staff is friendly, fun, and have the gift of quickly remembering their return visitors, which really makes Links feel like a welcoming spot. Food and drinks come out quickly, and my beer glass was rarely empty without the staff coming up and offering another round! Links also has several large golf simulator areas, where you and your friends can practice your swing while playing a number of games against a large virtual projector screen. Add on top of all this the regular rotation of live music and karaoke, and you've got an excellent sports bar that should be on anyone's list who's looking for a fun, casual, energetic sports bar in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Thanks for all the fun times, Links!

The receptionist was nice during check in. They give free s'mores kits. There are campfires around the property. I had a relaxing night! Room: I had a room with two queens. It was very spacious! There was a separate shower and bathtub in the bathroom. There were black out curtains on the windows. I didn't realize there was a window on the ceiling until the sun shown down in the morning. Then I also noticed there were blinds to block out the sun on that too! The bed was so comfy. The blanket was so warm and seemed like down feather. They gave us two complimentary glass bottles of Martinelli's apple cider. Amenities: -Fitness center. I was here at night, so it was very dark. I only saw one small room with cardio equipment. No weights. -Spa. There was no water dispenser and no hair dryer. In the women's locker room, there were lockers, one shower, new bathrobes, one pair of slippers (that we saw), and fresh towels. The steam room was small but could fit at 4-5 people. -Pool. The pool is heated. I wish they had a jacuzzi! -Golf. I think they had a 9-hole course on the property, but I did not partake in this. -Golf shop/Golf club. This is a 10 minute walk from the lodge. You can rent and purchase equipment here. -Tennis/pickleball. Equipment is free to borrow. No shade for the pickleball court. One tennis court is covered in shade by itself. Not sure about lighting. No wind guards. -Restaurants. See website for hours. When I checked out around 11-12PM, the restaurant was closed.

They charge $25 per person, unlimited balls. A little pricey compared to the other driving ranges around but worth the try since we were in the area. There's a limit to how far you can hit your ball (180 yards) because it's not a big enough space and there are houses nearby. The pro shop looked well stocked with golf clothes, footwear, accessories. I'm sure there were golf clubs (I didn't really look, but I'm pretty sure I saw some bags). Lastly, they have strict dress code- both at the course and at the range- no denim, no t-shirt's, no sweats. Didn't know this prior to coming here.
