Hidden halfway down Dean street, it is in an ideal location for the restaurants and bars of the Quayside and also not too far to walk to the Theatre Royal or the main shopping areas of town and Eldon Square. I would not recommend this car park to those who have a particularly large or difficult to maneouvre vehicle though as it is a multi storey and is exceptionally tight for turning. It is also not in an ideal location if you are disabled or have difficulty walking as it is halfway up a steep hill.

Within walking distance of all major attractions and almost opposite the Northern Stage theatre. However, as you might imagine, this car park is therefore excessively popular and has people queueing for spaces from early on a Saturday morning. It is laid out in an awkward spiral design which is tricky for parking and even more tricky when wanting to pull out. It is about average price for a city centre car park. I would recommend this car park to anyone who is keen to park near the centre of town and doesn't mind waiting as long as it takes to get a space.

We found the staff helpful, the station easy enough to navigate, etc... I was glad that we arrived early to find which platform our LNER train was on (#3) and then figure out what area to board based on our prebooked tickets. I didn't realize until it was too late that there was a designated warmer indoor area for us to wait. Bummer! Our train departed on time but did hit a delay on our route... clearly that is not the fault of the Newcastle Central Station, however. I'm not sure if/when I'll be back, but if you find yourself in the area, this is a beautiful station to come into or out of. Safe travels!

The station opened in August 1850, as part of the then Newcastle & Carlisle Railway and York, Newcastle & Berwick Railway. Now it's a Grade 1 listed building located in the city's Grainger Town area, to the west of the Castle Keep. The station was noted for its complex set of diamond crossings to the east of the station which facilitated access to the High Level Bridge and northbound East Coast Main Line and was said to be the greatest such crossing in the world. The crossing was the subject of many early-1900s post cards, titled The Largest Railway Crossing in the World, photographed from the castle (towards the station), or from the station towards the castle. Trains cross the River Tyne on one of two bridges. The older High Level Bridge, south-east of the station, was designed by Robert Stephenson opened on 27 September 1849. Its location meant north-south trains had to reverse in the station to continue their journey. The King Edward VII Bridge south-west of the station opened on 10 July 1906 allowing north-south trains to continue without reversing. The two bridges enable the trackwork north and south of the river to form a complete circle, allowing trains to be turned if necessary. The former Gateshead depot next to the connecting tracks on the south side of the Tyne, mirrored Newcastle station.

Eldon Square is the main shopping centre in Newcastle city centre, it opened on the site of Old…read moreEldon Square in 1976 and at the time of opening, it was the largest city-centre shopping centre in the UK. It was known as intu Eldon Square between 2013 and 2020 but following the collapse of intu, it has returned to its original name of Eldon Square. At the time of writing, Eldon Square is the 15th largest shopping centre in the country in terms of retail size, there is a much larger shopping centre, Metrocentre around a 10-15 minute drive away, but despite being smaller, I prefer Eldon Square, I still think the mall is a good size and it just seemed to have a better atmosphere, being in the city centre too rather than a soulless out of town mall. The mall has a great number of stores and brands including anchor retailers Fenwick, John Lewis and Marks and Spencer. Other brands located here include Apple, Boots, H&M, Next, Rituals and the major mobile phone/telecommunications networks. For food and drink, you have the likes of Starbucks, Nando's, Pizza Express, Ask Italian, Wagamama and TGI Fridays. The mall staff were friendly, and while there wasn't really anyone dotted around the mall, the help desk was easily to find so I could seek assistance finding a store. The layout of the mall is a little confusing and I think makes it seem bigger than it actually is - it can be quite a trek from the Bus Station to the Apple end of the mall. I do think the stores do shut a little early for the centre of a big city, between Monday and Saturday, the mall shuts at 7 pm, with some stores shutting as early as 6 pm including John Lewis. Thursday is an exception, where all stores tend to remain open until 8 pm, and Sunday is bound by Sunday trading laws so there's not much they can do there. 4* -

My family had the pleasure of attending a game recently at St. James' Park…read more.. Sadly, Newcastle lost to West Ham, but the experience was pretty special regardless. We were treated to seats in a suite which was an amazing experience and included a full meal with several courses, drinks, snacks, special pins for the game, programs, and more. Service was attentive and friendly and the seating both in and outside of the suite itself was comfortable and convenient. We rideshared to the stadium, which worked out well but getting a ride after was a bit challenging. Even so, if you have the opportunity to attend a game here or check it out, do it! You will not regret it!
