My mom was traveling back home alone after a doctor's visit on Oahu and needed wheelchair assistance. I found out that they had initially forgot to wheel her to the plane, leaving her to sit alone in the waiting area until a worker finally noticed her. With all the staff I saw standing around, I'm surprised that could even happen. Then, upon arrival on Lana'i, they didn't bring a wheelchair up the ramp for her, forcing her to shuffle down instead. On the Oahu side, the workers like to hang around the small check-in desk and talk loudly during their breaks. My mom is semi-deaf. If she could hear them, that's a problem. Two employees were also standing around outside "on break," vaping near the customer entrance. Their vape smells was not appreciated for those of us who have sensitive noses. Seriously disappointed with the whole situation. They need to do better.

I felt very fortunate to have been invited on this private tour of Pearl Harbor. It is different…read morefrom the regular free tour that is open to the public because: 1. we boarded a smaller boat and therefore, it was less crowded and we had more attention 2. we traveled to the other memorials - not only to the USS Arizona 3. we toured the Admiral's Boathouse This free tour includes the same movie that is seen on the regular tour. Participants also get to disembark from their boats, walk around on the Arizona Memorial and take photos. Visiting the other memorials was the highlight for me. Besides pointing out the brig (the Naval jail), the Mighty Mo (The USS Missouri), and the Ford island Bridge, our narrator showed us the USS Utah, aka The Forgotten Memorial, which houses the ashes of a baby girl that one of the sailors had in his possession. The other interesting site was the USS Nevada who had run aground after attempting to block the channel as a preventative measure in an attempt to stop the enemy from entering the harbor. This two-hour tour is a worthwhile investment of your time if you get an invitation! Highly recommended! We learned a lot about the worst Military disaster in the history of the USA. Kamaka has a relaxed, engaging, and easy-to-understand presentation style that made the three-hour stop-and-go tour both enjoyable and informative. Throughout the walk, he shared historical photographs that beautifully illustrated how Hawaiʻi has changed over time. What stood out most was Kamaka's genuine passion for his Hawaiian heritage. This place is an amazing camp for any group who wants to get away and get closer to God. It is absolutely beautiful with an outdoor Basketball Court, Volley Ball Court, and Beach! The food is top notch, cooked and prepared by the awesome Uncle David Lucus who is a great host. *Ask for the GARLIC SHRIMP!!!!
