So I'd had only good experiences here until fairly recently. I came into possession of a super nice, high quality men's blazer and I wanted two things done to it - the shoulder pads removed and a small flaw on the sleeve repaired (a snag maybe 2mm across). Took it here and was told that the arms basically needed to be completely reconstructed and it would be just over $100, but they would toss in the sleeve repair for free. I swallowed hard and said okay because I got the blazer very cheaply and $100 was way less than I would have paid new. I was told that I'd get a phone call when it was ready. Fast forward about two weeks and I haven't heard anything about the blazer. I finally call and I'm told that oh yeah, that's ready for pickup whenever you want to come by. Not really the service I'm used to but okay. I drop by the next day and try on the blazer for about 5 seconds before I'm hustled out because it's almost closing time. I get home and try it on in the light of day and wow. Somehow, the arms fit worse than before. The shoulders are ridiculously broad, the sleeves are somehow now too long, and the sleeve flaw hasn't been fixed. The shoulder pads hadn't been removed either. I would have taken it back but I had no receipt and had taken the tags off because I'm an idiot. I'm genuinely not sure if they did anything to this jacket at all. They certainly didn't do either of the two (2) things I asked for. $100 in the trash. An expensive lesson but I'm never coming back here. read more

The lady explained that the shoulders needed to be adjusted but since there was a binding around the neck it would take extra time and work to do it properly. It would take two weeks and get a call when it was ready. Since this was a superior quality item, I decided to spend the extra money and have it done. I had to call as I did not receive notice when it was ready. When I went to pick it up it fit perfectly and the workmanship was excellent although costly. read more

Finding a good alternation place is like finding a good mate, few and far between. There's so many dry cleaners/alternation places out there, it really is a matter of picking a place out of thin air. Well I'm here to Pearl Cleaners is a great place to go. I've been numerous times before and they have been nothing but professional and extremely courtesy... It's a family business, I think husband and wife team, though I could be wrong. They are there all the time, working hard! Best of all their prices are cheap. Conveniently located inside the Sheppard Centre on the second floor, the place is small and simple but has good service. I brought a cocktail dress in to get the bottom hemmed and needed it in two days. They had no problem doing that for me. The whole process took about 5 minutes and I got my dress two days later fitting perfectly. The cost was about $16 and I also asked them to help me with dry cleaning service. The dry cleaning is outsourced so I thought that price is a bit higher than other places. I'd definitely go back for the alteration service but not for the dry cleaning. I just thought it's odd since they have "Cleaners" in their name. read more

The elder lady doesn't know much alteration and is very mean. We discussed and agreed about how to perform the alteration on my brand new Monaco wind coat. But when I picked it up, found she did the alteration different way, the reason she gave was: it was too hard to do it the way we discussed earlier, thus she made her own mind to do it different way. When I tried to argue with her, the elder lady physically pushed me outside and said: never come back something like that. Out of respect to her age, I left half amount money. But I was surprised someone like her could stay in business! Of course I never wore that coat any more. read more

I have had a few experiences at Pearl Cleaners over the past few years and the latest speaks for itself. Not only was my clothing lost before for a week at a time, but recently a hemming job was not done properly causing one of the pairs of pants to be damaged that I gave in for hemming. I would have had to take the pants to a different alternator to be fixed and I asked for a discount on the pants. The male owner became very angry, started name calling, and became very aggressive. He wanted the full amount to be paid for work that was clearly not up to standard and resorted to very aggressive and belligerent behaviour and I had to call mall security. After speaking with security, this was not an isolated incident and any dissatisfied customers are routinely treated this way whereby the owner withholds any clothing until the full amount is paid although it was not done appropriately. Use at your own risk as this business does not care about quality of work and does not care about any customer service. They are extremely rude and inappropriate and will be aggressive. read more

I work in the building so it is very convenient. I also find their prices very reasonable, which I why I no longer try and do alterations myself. I now leave it to the experts. They are courteous and patient, even when I cannot find my receipt. Only downfall is they are cash only (helps keep their costs down I guess) so I have to run to the ATM first. read more

MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER! I have just moved to the area and decided to try this place for dry cleaning/alterations. To make sure that I don't get all my clothes ruined at once, I staggered my visits. 1) Dry cleaned a blazer. The blazer came back with the seam marks pressed onto the outer layer. 2) I decided to try again and brought 2 pairs of dress pants. These came back fine so it gave me confidence to finally alter my clothes as I had been looking for a decent place. 3) I brought in a blazer to get the sleeves shortened and a pair of dress pants to get the waist taken in. When I went to pick it up, the sleeves were uneven and the lining was bunching up on the inside of the blazer. The owner kept saying that it was normal and I had to ask him to press the sleeves at least to make it look less uneven. The dress pants were horrendous! As a professional tailor, his wife, did not let me know that by taking in the waist, the entire shape of the pants would be ruined. She just did it blindly. I would have preferred NOT to have taken the waist in if she had mentioned anything. The fabric was bunching in the rear and they kept saying it looked fine and I had only asked them to do the waist. If I wanted to take in the sides it would cost an extra $20. I told her there was no way I would do more business with them. I asked them if it was possible to reverse what she had done and she told me she would charge me again for her labour. This is absolutely unacceptable customer service, especially since they were speaking to me in the most demeaning manner. I still paid them and when a customer came to pick up her dry cleaning, we chatted about tailors and I told her not to get her alterations done here, but the dry cleaning was fine. She recommended that I go to the lady downstairs (of the main floor of Sheppard Centre?). The owner got extremely irate with me and told me he was going to call security if I didn't stop talking poorly about his business. Even the customer I was talking to was confused and said we were just talking as friends. Now envision this: I am under 5 ft. and weigh less than 90lbs. and this is the first time any person has ever threatened to call security on me. I was not screaming nor yelling to people passing by exclaiming that this was the worst business ever - instead I was having a conversation with a girl my age about good tailors. Save yourself the trouble and humiliation and avoid this place. I never write reviews until I have a poor experience and this definitely takes the cake. read more

I'd been going to Pearl Drycleaner at Sheppard Centre for years until recently I took my relatively new, moderately used Mackage coat to them. The coat came back looking as if I picked it up at Salvation Army with fluffy, soft fibres flattened and hardened and leather inserts dried and faded. When approached, the owners' reaction was nothing but appalling. I have been barely allowed to say a word, I was shouted at, told there was nothing wrong with the coat other than regular wear, that if I want to have a coat in a good condition I should hang it on the wall and look at it. I was also told that I was a difficult customer and that I was trying to cheat them. I understand sometimes mistakes happen but all it comes down to is how they're dealt with, which essentially is what constitutes customer service. I launched the complaint with no expectations in respect of being reimbursed for the coat (I assume this is why I was accused of trying to cheat them), however I did expect to be offered a solution, which in their case was shifting the blame. If you care about your clothes, I suggest taking your business elsewhere as there will be no accountability for damages. read more

I've never been treated SO POORLY by a service provider in my life!! Simply appalled by the owner's behaviour.... I came to pearl cleaners to dry clean a coat, a blazer, a shirt and fix the button on a pair of jeans. Simple, right? Apparently it's the most complicated order they have ever gotten that took a month and a half and me coming there 7 (!!) times and still not get it right... They Dragged me on 3 separate occasions (each time, taking the subway) to that dry cleaners before my order was even touched (every week they told me to come back the following week and promised it would be ready - each time with a different excuse). By the fourth time, only part of the order was ready and apparently the jeans were dry-cleaned (even though I never asked for them to be) but they didn't fix the button! On the fifth time, everything was ready and I took it home (finally!). It didn't end there...the blazer had a white stain on it that wasn't there before! I immediately called back telling them that after 5 weeks they still didn't get the order right. The owner told me to come back that weekend and he'll clean it for me (he made sure to add "at no extra cost" - of course no cost - you got it dirty!). I came that Saturday just as he told me, to hand in my blazer (this is the 6th time now) and what do I see? The cleaners were closed that entire weekend (they're usually opened on Saturdays). Once again, he made me come in for nothing. The following week (visit # 7) I came with my blazer, reminding him that he gave it to me dirty last time and that he said he would clean it. NOW he decides to stand behind his "rules" and says that once it has left the dry cleaners, he can't take responsibility. My question is - why the hell didn't you say that over the phone instead of telling me to come in for you to clean "at no extra cost"????? After a very long argument, explaining that I have wasted time and money (2 tokens each way X 7 visits) because of his total lack of consideration towards a client's time and money, what does the nice owner decide to do? He decides to call the security guard on me. After the security guard hears the story - HE himself tells the owner that he should at least refund the amount paid for the dirty blazer! After all this - the owner doesn't even apologize ONCE! I was outraged that an owner of a business in CANADA can be so insulting, rude and such a crook! They took in my flower girl dress. Charged me for a "fancy dress". Machine washed my flower girls dress and then the jewels fell out and changed colour, rusted and bleed onto the dress. Turns around and tries to get me to take it home without telling me. Tells me to come back and he will fix it- doesn't fix it at all. The beads on the dress had to be taken off and the dress looks different from what it needed to be. WORST SERVICE EVER! NO RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS. Freaking woman cursed me in Korean not knowing I can understand. Waived the back of the receipt saying they aren't liability. What they dont know is I work in the legal field and their liability disclosure doesn't cover their mistake on my flower girl dress. WORST SERVICE. Why call yourself dry cleaners if your going to machine wash my dress.... I could do that myself. read more
