    traditional aussie
    Eva C.

Saw great reviews at this place so decided to stop by! There were many flavors available to choose from. Since it was our first time here, my friends and I decided to go for the traditional aussie one with peaked pie topping (mashed peas and mashed potatoes with gravy over). The pie was heated and very flavorful! It was very delicious and filling! I also really liked the crust of the pie with the mashed potatoes. The meat filling was also yummy. I personally am not a fan of peas in general so the mashed peas was just ok for me. I would definitely recommend getting their pie with the peaked pie topping if dining in!

Probably one of my favorite spots to grab lunch! The peaked pie was about $18 all in, and is a lot! There is the option to get it to go, but they'll heat it up and prepare it nicely if you dine in. Street parking can be competitive. Staff is very nice and helpful. There can be a bit of a wait (but it's worth). Bathroom was clean! Water is available.

The pepper steak pie was fantastic. I wish they had this concept in Texas. Delicious! Why 5 stars? I don't think they could do anything to make the experience better. Clean establishment, friendly service, great food.

I was by English Bay for some work and decided to stop by Peaked Pies for some delicious Aussie pie. It was a Monday morning so their cafe was pretty empty and the perfect spot to get some work done! I got their butter chicken pie and got it peaked (added mash potatoes and peas). Their pies are sooo big it's not possible to finish it in one sitting especially when you get the toppings! The pie was good, it was a bit cold on the inside so I asked the staff to heat it up again for me. They were apologetic about it and heated it up again. Their cafe is very cozy and had good music playing the background. Would definitely return when I'm in the area next :)

I needed to find a place on the way to Stanley Park for a quick bite and I happened to find this gem of a place! It is a cozy bakery/cafe and it looks colorful and bright inside. I absolutely love this place after reminiscing on Aussie pies from when I went to Australia years ago. There was a place in Boston that has since closed that I used to frequent when I had a craving for them, but Peaked Pies takes the cake for the best Aussie pie I've had outside of Australia! The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming so we opted to eat in the cafe. It was a good choice because we got multiple pies and got "peaked" which was an addition of mashed potatoes, mushy green peas, and gravy topped over the pie of your choosing. There was no way I would be eating that on the go like I would for a traditional Aussie pie. I tried the traditional Aussie, beef curry, steak, butter chicken, as well as the apple crumble pie. They all had a well developed flaky crust with a good amount of filling bursting with flavors. The peaked add on was very savory as well. The pies were so good that I ended up coming back after my trip to Stanley Park to get some more for a midnight snack to share with family. Their pies are a decent personal size so I wouldn't get too much for yourself especially if you get peaked, but I tried all of the pies between two separate occasions and with family. The apple crumble is a must if you're able to stomach getting dessert after stuffing yourself with a savory pie. Do yourself a favor and get peaked to fuel yourself for a day around Stanley Park!! I would definitely come back if I find myself in Vancouver again, but I hope someone can open a shop with this quality in Boston!

Post Stanley park snack. Grabbed two pies. Veggie medley (peaked) and steak bacon cheese. Peaked is mashed potato over mashed green peas then smothered in gravy. I wasn't 100% sure about mashed green peas, but it was delicious and highly recommend.

Even though the pies are mot baked to order, but displayed and reheated, they are still delicious and filling. The meats used for the fillings are lean but tender, and the gravy is full-bodied and rich with herbs and butter.

Had my eye on this before our trip and it was a perfect choice to warm up after riding Stanley Park! So so good!

We stumbled on this place after walking around Stanley Park and it was soooo good! The staff were super sweet and friendly to us. It's a smaller spot so had to wait a little to grab a seat, but there's seating outside too. I got the traditional pie with potatoes peas and gravy and it was so comforting and delicious. It hit the spot and was a really good portion I was stuffed!

    Peaked Vegetable Medley Pie

Friendly counter service. We got pies to eat at one of their two outdoor tables with our dog. I got the vegetable medley (peaked) and loved it. It had so much flavor from the curry and other spices in the rich sauce. There was a diverse mix of vegetables too which added variety in taste and texture. My husband got the steak and mushroom (peaked) and the beef and curry (regular). He said both were amazing! The peaked style (mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and gravy on top) probably works better for the less complex pies. My husband said it was great on the steak and mushroom, but he was happy he didn't do the beef curry one that way. And I can understand why, because halfway through eating mine, I scraped the top off with the topping and saved the bottom of the pie and filing to eat alone. Don't get me wrong, everything was amazing. But the curry flavors were so good, I didn't want the peas and gravy to overtake those flavors. So be mindful of the pie you're ordering before you commit to "peak" it. lol

Australian bakery with the most delicious meat pies I've ever had! They have a variety of sweet and savory pies and I loved the savory meat pie we had. Ours was topped with mashed potatoes and peas. The smashed peas on top was surprisingly delightful. The sweets we had were good as well but definitely go for the savory route here! Smaller establishment in a great location with late hours and service was very quick! It's also very clean.

I was on a food tour that my friend organized & Peaked Pies was on the top of the list! I had the Aussie pie which features a generous amount of ground beef & gravy topped with a perfectly flaky crust. Some of my friends shared the Aussie pie and had it topped off with mashed potatoes with a side of mushy peas (it can feed 2 or more). Get a variety of pies to share! Service is warm, friendly & helpful.

I'm still sad, a few months later (our cruise was in June), that we only had a day and a half in Vancouver before the cruise - it was driving me crazy, there are just *so* many amazing-looking food options in the city! I'd love to come back sometime and try more, but I'm absolutely not regretting choosing this place as one of my meals that trip - the meat pies here are fantastic. I could even see coming back on a future Vancouver trip (though that'd be hard, there are so many great places we didn't try, too! If I lived in Vancouver, though, I'd be here all the time.) We ordered a couple meat pies, one "peaked", and received them like 3 minutes later. Like faster than fast food half the time - which I suppose they technically are, since the pies are already baked, they just need to get plated and, potentially, peaked. So it's great if you're in a hurry, or just hungry! We were both, so I loved it! Anyway, obviously, the pies were excellent. The "Hopper" didn't really taste notably different than if it had been made with a more traditional meat rather than kangaroo, but it was definitely rich and meaty, like 11/10 level delicious pie. The traditional "peaked" pie was exactly what you'd expect, a great meat pie, topped mashed potatoes, mush peas and gravy - totally lived up to the hype. We ended up sharing a third meat pie just cause they were so good, we're so infrequently in Vancouver (like never), and they had so many different flavors, all delicious-sounding. We weren't hungry enough to "peak" it, but the steak, bacon and cheese pie was also fantastic. Would have been even better peaked, though. (I imagine that's true of any of them, it's a great combo.) 2 pies would've been enough food for 2 people, though - but I wasn't sad about eating the third, either. Drinks-wise, they have a handful of beers for reasonably reasonable prices, but at least at the time we were there, they were mostly IPAs, and I wasn't in an IPA mood. They also had $5 (nonalcoholic) craft kombuchas, though - had one, went great with the meat pies. We also tried a couple of the desserts - the one we paid for, the vanilla cake, was just ok, the only real disappointment that lunch. It wasn't bad, but it was kinda overly sweet and rather one-dimensional, compared to the, again, extremely excellent meat pies. The free "minington" with yelp checkin, though, was great. (Even better, my wife hates shredded coconut, so I had it to myself! If you don't like shredded coconut, don't get it, it's covered in it. I thought it was great!) Extra bonus tip: they've likely fixed their wifi by now, in which case they also likely have working guest wifi, but it was down when we were there... but fun fact, if their wifi happens to be down again, if you're sitting outside, you can definitely also get the unsecured guest wifi from the A&W next door. (Who would go to an A&W when you're right next to such a great meat pie place! Nothing against A&W, but it's not a meat pie.)

They were rock solid when the cashier passed them to me, which was perfect as I had to make the trek back to the car before I could unwrap and try it. The sandwich is on the smaller end so I made sure to cherish the $25 I had spent on 2 sandwiches. The inside featured a creamy basil ice cream with frozen strawberries. The strawberries were a bit icy but the cream balanced it out and it was not too sweet. And of course, who wouldn't love a biscoff ice cream sandwich? The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions.
