Their Physical and Occupational Therapy were wonderful. I had each therapy 5 days a week. They push you, but not so hard as to cause you to hurt yourself. The location is a long way from home, but it was the best. Going home today and will start out patient therapy Friday. Since I live alone - in patient rehab was definitely the only way to go! The best thing I can say is, you aren't dumped in a room and forgotten. The aids went out of their way to make me comfortable. My recirculating ice machine came with me and the aids would set it up for me. All medications were dispensed in a timely and professional manner. If anything else has to be replaced, I would not hesitate to come back. I forgot to mention their therapy dogs.

Each person and family is different and has different needs to be considered. She has moved through the entire community from Independent Living using Aldersgate At Home to help manage medications and have daily eyes upon her to Assisted Living to Asbury Rehab (as needed) to the Dementia Community to now the Asbury Long-term/Nursing Care area. Aldersgate has truly been a gift from God. My stress has continued to reduce as she has moved through the community. It has been so comforting having EVERYTHING she needs in one facility vs having to move organizations at different stages of care. The staff (saints sent from Heaven above) are professional, warm, kind, funny, honest and have cared for my mom like she was their own. At each level, the staff got to know her by name. It helps to enter Aldersgate early so the staff gets to know you, can see changes in you and assist you through the stages as needed. They truly care, are professionals and can guide you and your family through the stages as changes need to be made. It also helps when they are making the call to help a loved one get additional care vs you making that call. Your loved one is more receptive to the change when they realize the professionals are making the decision not their family. They still might not like it because they may be leaving new friends as they move to another area of campus but the family doesn't become "the bad guy". The staff is amazing at navigating with family dynamics. The staff moves around campus so as your loved one moves they do see some familiar faces as they make transitions and the staff has knowledge to pass on to new staff on how to best handle someone when needed. The facility is very clean and well maintained. I personally think the food is very good and frequently pick up lunch/dinner for myself in the cafe after visiting with mom. I have also eaten in the main dinning area with mom in the past and it was good. On occasion, like any place I might have chosen something I didn't care for but that's normal...overall very good. FYI..there is a black female chef in the cafe that makes the best omelettes for breakfast....yummy. Also, dont try the cappuccino crunch ice cream because it's addicting! At times when visiting from out of town, I have rented one of the rooms so I could stay at the facility but have my own space. While not fancy, it was clean and maintained. The facility gets pretty quiet early yet you can get a good walk up and down the halls at night or around the gorgeous campus during the day...don't miss the azalea garden. Aldersgate is "Top Shelf" in my book. If you or a family member needs care, I cant think of a better place to be.

Been here a couple of years and decided not to renew my lease so we'll be moving soon... Here's an…read moreidea of what to expect: Pros: Management is responsive... sometimes you usually have to push an issue as they will sit on it. Maintenance does their part though and usually the same cool guy. Gym and pool area is well kept, pest control comes out regularly. Regular filter changes (the windows do not open). These can be annoying being that they come in 4 times a year if you can't reach your own filter. Parking is great, the location in this area is awesome. Two Buck Saloon bar across the street, or you could just walk up the street to get on Central. A lot of things walking distance. Their dog park community here was great for our pets. I think they keep the area clean for the most part, I did see staff pick up trash in the mornings. Cons: I think the cons depends on your building at this complex.. I believe some areas of this complex is better maintained than others. Not enough exits throughout the building which could be dangerous for fire safety. not enough security or cameras throughout the complex; they give you a number for security, never had to call; but I do see them here. Whatever your neighbor apartment smell like, your apartment will. This includes smoking, most of us have air purifiers to replace not being able to get fresh air. I've been starting to have my packages stolen as well as some neighbors from INSIDE the building... there's a lot of loitering around here... and there's probably people from the bar across the street; but it's something to be cautious of especially if they're showing you apartments in the building that is not behind the security gate. This kind of activity happens at night when the office isn't opened and worse on the weekends. Of course the walls are thin, we knew this moving in... however the hallways can get loud and everyone usually have something under their door to block the drafts and noise out; hasn't work well but it did something lol One neighbor had a flea infestation and majority of residents was not notified. Door entrances are often blocked with folks standing in front of them hanging out or on staircases forcing us to use other exits. Overall: I think the experience here has been great... the location, esthetics, and the actual community that are residents here have been a pleasure of knowing. I would say pay attention and be careful to which building they put you in because in our opinion; that's going to determine your experience here.

I am writing my experience regarding Atrium Health on Yelp since Atrium cannot return my phone…read morecalls or respond to the complaint I wrote on 10/24 on their website. In addition, I hope this will help someone when choosing health care for a loved one or themselves. According to Caregiver.org 34.2 million Americans have provided unpaid care to adult age 50 or older. I was one of those caregivers until October 18th of this year. The gentlemen I was caring for transitioned to independent living and during that time I reached out to his care team at Atrium with a few issues that needed to be addressed before the gentlemen transitioned. My concerns were pertaining to diet, mental capacities and safety. It was a few simple questions and it turned out to be a nightmare dealing with the staff. Below was my experience following which started 9/26 and today is 12/2. I still have not heard back from anyone. Below is my letter I sent on 10/24 to their compliance department via website. I am the caregiver & health care proxy for a patient at Elizabeth Family Medicine. He had a visit on 9/23/19, to meet Dr. Goyal's replacement and check-in. I thought this would be a great time to address his transition to living alone, as well as a few concerns I had about his safety and diet. I typed my concerns in an email since I could not attend the visit. I called the office on 9/26 and asked for an email address of someone on his care team. This turned into a 20-minute power struggle I typed my concerns in an email since I could not attend the visit. I called the office on 9/26 and asked for an email address of someone on his care team. This turned into a 20-minute power struggle with Robin (refused to give last name) the person that answered the phone. She made it very clear; I could drop it off, mail it in, leave a message or login-in to client's health chart with Atrium regarding his health issues, but I could not email it. I even tried to explain that I was a member of the patience's team and that I was asking for an email address, so we could work together. As I explained to her; it was too late to mail since the appointment was Monday, I could not leave work to drop it off, the letter was too long for a message and I did not want to use the online chart because there was sensitive information in there. He is 88 and I am concerned about Dementia. He deserves respect and dignity. Finally, I asked to speak with a supervisor. I spoke with Marisol Brown and she seem to understand my dilemma and was able to assist me. I emailed her my concerns and she passed them on. She is totally a team player. So, the patient's appointment came and went, and I have yet to hear back from anyone. Today is 10/24. Five days shy of a month since the client's visit. I have called several times since trying to get a response and each time a telephone girl (a professional sees thing through) assures me someone will return my call, and no one does. The policy manual for Atrium under Patient Care and Privacy states, "Patients are entitled to prompt and courteous responses to their requests and to their need for treatment and services." I don't believe this experience has been prompt, courteous or even helpful. This experience has been stressful. As I stated earlier it is 12/2 and I have not heard back from one of the hundreds of people they employ. I am one person. They have a team of people at their disposal and a compliance department, but no one could return a call. -- l

Signs all over the office that say call 7 days out for refills and not ONCE have I actually received them in 7 days. It takes multiple calls to people who state it's going out in an urgent message but I never hear back from anyone and have to keep calling. They even "lost" a prescription and tried to argue with me that she never prescribed it, this is after her prescribing it for 6 MONTHS. I'm beyond tired of this and want to find a new practice after constantly dealing with it. Why not be like every other office so that when you call in you leave a message for the Drs nurse instead of calling and getting people in a call center that aren't onsite just sending the nurse emails? Get your process organized as I see I'm not the only one who experiences this!

Whenever I visited, I was treated warmly, and my father was always resting comfortably in a clean room and a pristine bed, with carefully laundered, comfortable clothes. He had dementia, so he was unable to tell us how the staff was treating him (and never having been the type of person to complain) we had to take non-verbal cues. All the cues pointed to a staff that was both patient and caring. Trust was essential to us and something we considered heavily before deciding on a place for our beloved father. During his final days, our family experienced feelings that I cannot properly put into words here. Likewise, I am unable to express how sensitive the staff was in their treatment of my father. I imagine that they deal with loss on a regular basis, but never once did they regard our grief casually. My father was a kind, gentle, man and was known for his singing voice, his whistling, his love of jazz and his love of the Word. The staff made sure he was able to enjoy all these things during his final days. They all knew him by name, and said he was easy to care for and easy to care about. This was evident in their heartfelt farewell. You can not pay someone to care, and [care] is what they did here. Perhaps I have not adequately relayed, but in my heart I will absolutely, always appreciate every last member of this staff for giving of themselves so selflessly, when it counted most.
