We took a tour of this facility on Saturday while researching options for my in laws. We decided to…read morevisit this facility because they offer the full continuum of care from independent living to assisted living to skilled nursing. I really liked a lot about the facility and all the employees we met were super nice and helpful. The main dining room, bar, and lounge areas looked like a country club and indeed we found out that they have a happy hour that is apparently very popular. I liked the fact that the independent living apartments had patios & balconies. However, there were a couple of negatives. The main one was that the facility seemed a little dark & dreary inside despite the fact that it was a beautiful sunny day. I think it is because the facility was built a long time ago (The Carriage Club has been there for over 20 years) and they have added on over time. It's a shame, but we ruled out this facility because of the darkness. They really should do some remodeling to give the space a more contemporary bright & open feel.

The management cannot keep up with basic services such as housecleaning and do not offer a rebate for services omitted but already paid for. The food has become so mediocre to bad that many residents go out more often than eat in, eve though meals are provided 25 times a month. And the place is decrepit. If it did not cost so much to move, most residents would be gone. Worst of all, the resident manager, Melissa, hides away in her distant office so that she does not have to interact with residents.

I give the nurses 5 stars but the administration is why I only give it 2 stars. When my dad was put…read moreinto hospice for managed and comfort care we were told he would be there until he passed. My dad was a fighter and wasn't willing to just die. He put up a good fight for a long time battling cancer for years. Even though treatment was no longer given and his body was being taken over by cancer he still tried to stay around as long as he could once he was placed in hospice. When we first got there a social worker came in to speak to us about what to expect and let us know she would be around if we had any questions or concerns. Well after a month or so had passed by and my dad was still hanging on. The social worker informed us that my dad would have to be sent home and my stepmom would have to manage his care. What happened to him staying until he passed?! He wasn't dying fast enough?! They then informed us they were a short term hospice. Well that would have been nice to know in the beginning so we could have looked into other opinions. And the social worker shouldn't had told us he could stay as long as it takes. The social workers attitude changed and was no longer helpful or compassionate. She gave my stepmother no time to make arrangements to get my dad set up in their home or to look into a long term hospice facility. She asked if he could stay one more day so a bed could be delivered and be set up in their living room. The social worker said "No". I had to reach out to a family member who worked in the medical field for advise. Luckily, but not really, my dad took a turn for the worst and his pain wasn't able to be managed with the medications they were giving him orally and through his pump. They were having to heavily sedate him so he wouldn't feel pain. He did end up staying until he passed. Hospice is not only a place where our beloved family members go to be cared for in the best possible way before they pass but it's also having compassion for their family members and what they're going through. I can't say enough about the compassion we all received from the nurses but I'm so disappointed in the social worker. We just wanted to focus on spending time with my dad but instead we were all stressing over how he was getting kicked out of hospice and had no time to get him set up anywhere else.
