As an aging endurance athlete, over the last 23 years I have visited numerous PT facilities. I have never had a bad experience anywhere. However, specific to Peak Motion, I was immediately impressed with how friendly, professional and attentive the front office staff was on the first visit. I was treated with the exact same enthusiasm at each successive visit. Inside the clinic, I was equally impressed with the intake procedure and the cleanliness of the facility. The staff's awareness and implementation of disinfection protocols made me feel safe. Every therapist and assistant that guided me through the various treatment routines seemed very knowledgable to me and they made sure that I performed each assigment properly. Finally, I could not help but notice how efficient the entire operation of the clinic and the administrative office was. I was really impressed with Peak Motion! The facility was very clean and they did a good job of sanitizing all the equipment. Most of all all the physical therapist and physical therapy assistance were very knowledgeable, helpful and were very efficient on how they managed everyone. In my experience/opinion: Kevin and Christopher will participate in a program that will injure you; Mark will help you a lot most of the time and injure you sometimes with shoe lifts and tape; Donna Bryce will manufacture evidence in an evaluation to have you discharged to prevent you from getting helped. (In my opinion) Dr. Baca will allow it all to happen (and help with the program that will cause injury). Donna Bryce said I was way too debilitated to continue with physical therapy, but also that I was way too active and independent to need it and could just do yoga. I do need it. It was working, and they (in my opinion/experience) decided to disrupt my treatment. She actively ignored evidence that my range of motion was improving and (after nearly injuring my back herself) refused to do the evaluation after I had had a chance to stretch another part of my body that was preventing me from moving. That was the pretext she used to say I wasn't improving. Why not continue to treat me as the other referrals happen? It is demoralizing and terrible to deal with people who are so clearly being disingenuous and interfering with your health and wellbeing (in my experience/opinion). The need for anyone to curtail someone's medical treatment and flex the authority to define reality and just make things up is unprofessional and sadistic, and shouldn't be tolerated (and in my opinion/experience, that's what happened here)... Upon further reflection, because Dr. Baca wanted to make the conversation go on when they had already told me they were discharging me, it seems like the intent was to get me to agree to cover up that I was injured initially in order to have my treatment continue. I stopped working with the PTAs who ignored my pain (even my tears) and had me do activities that caused me to spend hours of my time stretching to avoid injury. I gave them the opportunity to simply treat me and they seemed to, but I guess it was just to buy time until my evaluation so that they had leverage to get me to pretend it never happened (my opinion/guess based on the bizarre events that transpired)? read more

It's like getting physical therapy by Facebook. It's a group experience only. On the plus side, It's good if you just need to strengthen as they have a good gym and facility and put you through good workouts. So for certain types of situations they are a good place to go -- like a post rehab strengthening stint. On the down side if you have any complex injury management they are so distracted and constantly changing therapists -- and each therapist is managing multiple clients at time -- so they can't keep track of patients individual issues. In my case they missed that I had a serious fracture and so further injured me during the course of therapy. They kept pushing me to work harder despite me reporting pain to them. In general they are too distracted with multiple clients to take feedback well and tend to get defensive rather than correct mistakes. When I mentioned that I wanted to switch to another physical therapy center in a few weeks because of complex medical issues that required individual attention -- knee replacement, foot fracture, spinal fusion -- they retaliated by cancelling all my appointments. This left me -- a post knee replacement surgery rehab patient !!! -- completely in the lurch. I have heard from other medical facilities understand that this is a pattern with this facility and they commonly do this type of relalitation any time a patient wishes to transfer to other facilities. In short, highly negligent behavior as regards patients medical concerns and conditions. Avoid if you have complex medical conditions, are elderly or medically vulnerable in any way. Probably an o.k. place if you are young, strong and just looking to strengthen like a personal trainer type facility but certainly not a reputable place for physical therapy. read more

BUYER BEWARE. Predatory billing practices. I took my 12 year old to PEAK MOTION PHYSICAL THERAPY to get physical therapy for a knee injury. I asked them to explain the billing process to me up front. It's always confusing to agree to treatment costs when you have a high deductible plan. They said that the sessions were $100 per session until the deductible was met. I asked about cash pay and they said it was $100 per hour. It was never explained that they bill the insurance 3X the amount for the same session as cash pay and you are responsible for the difference until your deductible is met. I thought that if it was $100 per session cash pay and $100 per session toward the deductible that it would be good to have the money go toward the deductible, which, when I asked the billing and reception they confirmed my assumptions were correct. I would have NEVER agreed to go here had I known that it would cost me on average $180 per session out of pocket. I'm sure they know that, which is why they keep it vague. Over the course of 5 weeks, I paid $1000 out of pocket for him to receive 10 sessions of treatment. This was a sacrifice for our family but my son was having a hard time walking and needed the treatment. I was not allowed to accompany my son during treatment which also seemed shady since he is underaged and any other type of medical treatment he's received I've been allowed to accompany him. I'm usually inquisitive about treatment and costs and most doctors are forthcoming and sensitive to the potential additional costs for families with children -- not being able to witness the treatment to know or ask what costs more or to approve additional treatment, wasn't a thought at the time because I was under the assumption that sessions were $100 per hour. I received no bill until MONTHS after his treatment, so I had no idea what they were charging insurance (the billing department blamed the insurance for not sending me reports, they said it was not their responsibility to tell me what I am charged). I received many calls to get my son back into therapy over the summer. When I finally received the bill, every session was at a different rate, with no explanation as to why. Treatments were in April and May and the first bill I received was in JULY -- months after treatment where I was charged an additional $492. They were quick to try to get us in to do as many sessions as possible, delay bills or explanation of treatment so that no adjustments could be made in real time... then bill long after treatment. I begged billing to treat this as cash pay -- since I have already paid $1000 and by that logic, we are square. But she insisted that since they've already gone through insurance that I am responsible for the payment. That I would have had to agree to cash pay UP FRONT (except they were not clear about billing) AND there is NOTHING they can do. Even though I agreed to treatment under false pretenses. Which -- I think is what they want. They don't want you do to cash pay so they can charge the insurance 3X the amount, leave you on the hook for it, and then when the insurance gets to the 80%/20% ratio you will still owe nearly $100 per session because they are charging the insurance between $200-$300 per hour. PLEASE don't go here. They are dishonest in how they represent payments. I was upset when I talked to the billing department -- and they just kept talking down to me, telling me I wasn't listening, eventhough their excuses felt more like gaslighting. They were not at fault for their initial explanation. It was clearly my fault for not understanding them from the beginning. It was the insurance companies fault for them not sending a bill, and it was my responsibility to understand their nuanced billing through my insurance company...and that regardless I was was responsible for treatment costs. read more

I'm an OT, Peak Motion was recommended to me by one of my patients, so when I knew I needed PT to come back from an injury, I chose Peak Motion. The initial Eval was thorough, the actual therapy was challenging but not in a painful way. No, you don't get seen by the same therapist each visit, but to me this was a good thing. You end of benefiting from the expertise of multiple physical therapists who modify your exercises or add new ones depending on your response to the exercise. Because of my crappy insurance with super high deductible, I was essentially self pay...worth every dollar! I recovered completely from my injury and continue to do many of the exercises that I learned at Peak Motion on my own to maintain/improve my core and hip strength. I highly recommend this clinic! read more

Shyla is wonderful and she herself deserves 5 stars. But the way they do their practice is a little weird to me. I'm 29 years old and got referred to here because of complete numbness in my right hand and forearm. I saw shyla the first day and she was super nice and friendly and welcoming. She put KT tape and did some dry needling. So I figured I'd see her every appt. she did not explain that my next appt I'd walk In and do PT in the middle of the room which I find extremely weird because it's like a gym lol I find it weird because we literally don't even know the problem I'm having or where it's coming from. So I asked to speak to shyla. She said she had written a note that if there was numbness present that I'd need to see her. So she was nice enough to see me again and we did more dry needling and KT tape. I had zero Numbness the entire weekend it was great. Come the day before my 3rd appt the numbness is back. So I ask to see shyla again but she was doing deyneedling on another patient. They wanted me to do their little workout thing like pushing a ball towards a wall which is cool if you are healing from a injury but still I had no idea what my problem was. Frustrated I told them I wanted to speak with shyla and luckily I got more KT tape and dry needling which helped a lot so far. We talked about me scheduling with a ortho surgeon because it was weird that the numbness would come and go so quick and we couldn't find the actual problem. So after the needling and taping me up she wanted me to do the ball exercises which I'm not sure why considering againnnn we didn't know the underlying issue. She explained it was to activate the muscles so I tried doing that about 15 minutes I was over it. And told one of the staff I was leaving and she looked offended that I need to schedule myself 2 hours or more for PT ... So I said ok and discontinued my next 3 week Appointments. If I can't be seen and get down to the real issue I figured I'd take myself somewhere else. I do have to say it looks like a great place for elderly to practice for balance and strength. But not a place to just hangout and workout for 2 hours when you don't even know the issue at hand is. read more

I've had to go to a few physical therapy providers in my life and from my experience Peak Motion PT has been the most professional and hands on provider by far. Peak Motion was recommended to help with recovery from mastectomy. Initial 2 visits were great-- professional eval and program But then I never saw the actual Physical Therapist again! The next weeks were doing the SAME program -- albeit with very nice techs assisting. The problem one morning I work up and had no hand strength in my left hand. None-- could not open prescription bottle! My next appointment I told them and PT set-up hand exercises. So I did these for 3 weeks all the while expressing a pain behind left "wing" on back. There was very little improvement and I was becoming more distressed. I asked for massage on that area-- which I got one 20 minute session and same hand exercises. Finally after living with this painful problem for over 3 weeks I described it again to a tech she had me lay on a rolled towel on a table. Within minutes I felt a pop and the pain left! WOW. We then figured out the cable pulls I had done several weeks before had caused a pinched nerve! So all the hand exercises were not even close addressing the real problem! I live alone and this was a HUGE challenge-- especially following a mastectomy. I didn't feel anyone really listed to me until after 3 WEEKS. Since then I have gone to Langford PT and had the total opposite experience! A real PT works with you ALL the time. They listen, do body evaluations as you move and help establish routines you can do at home to reach your goal of healing. None of that happened at Peak-- I felt like I was in a money-mill, from the waiting area to very limited actual PT attention. After experiencing the difference at Langford PT I won't waste my time or insurance money at Peak. read more

Peak motion has been treating my complicated pair of injuries. I've received compassionate and prompt attention every time I arrive at my no weekly appointments. Each therapist has recognized me by name but Jacqueline, Chris, Jonny and Kevin (all licensed PTA) go out of the way to check up on my progress and make my therapy enjoyable. The Physical Therapists Wan Lei, Lee and Phil are always double checking the treatment plans and constantly assessing improvements. Wan Lei has the greatest hands on approach and will assess any unusual pain for additional complication. I can't praise his abilities enough. He is through and provides exceptional insight into your injury treatment and progress. The massage therapists on staff are perfection. Having medical massage provides the benefits of pain reduction, joint mobilization, along with the most gentle approach to increased range of motion. Lindsay is wonderful. She is a breath of purification in a world that lacks such light. Her hands give me the knowledge of an athlete that has experienced injuries and understands the need for recovery. I saw the actual physical therapist once and then was handed off to assistants. They gave me exercises which seemed formulaic and not specific to my issues. Once I was handed off to the assistants they put me on a piece of equipment, handed me a timer and walked away. There was almost no feedback on my form and how it felt. After they set you up with your timer they head back to the desk and talk to each other. And then the real kicker, they charge over $300 a session to do this! So no physical therapist, no individual attention and they charge a fortune. It made my back worse and the final bill will be about $1500 for 5 sessions. read more

The PT and PT Techs are great. This review is a one star review because the owner of Peak Motion treated me with disrespect and showed a true lack of sensitivity for his patients. The owner brought me to tears on the PT floor because of a policy that was never discussed or disclosed to me. 5 days before my visit I slipped and caught myself on my hand. I was chatting with a PT Tech about this and when the owner heard, he interrupted me and asked me to leave. I had just gotten to the facility for the day, I had just paid my $100 deductible, and I was in pain (not from the slip but from my long term back issues). After becoming very visibly upset, the PT Tech was gracious enough to sit down with me, talk through things, and even provide me some light treatment so I didn't have to leave in pain. The PT Tech also let me know what steps I would need to take before my next visit. Unfortunately, I took those steps, just to find out they already cancelled my next appointment without notifying me. I am beyond frustrated. I've gave the PT Tech two pieces of feedback that I hope the owner takes to heart. 1. Please disclose and company policies to your patients that might effect us. 2. Please work on your communication, your response to me lacked and tact or sympathy - you should have sat down with me, discussed what happened when I slipped (you still don't actually know), disclosed your policy, and then share what treatments we could do today and the next steps I needed to take. The owner treated me like he was a bouncer - literally kicking me out of the facility. I can't even fathom where his professionalism was for the day but he certainly had none. read more

The therapists and even the owner was completely unaware of my diagnosis or how to proceed with PT for my condition. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes past my appointment time to be seen, even though I saw the therapist walking around the room with nothing to do. Finally, I had to complain to the guy in charge that day about the company tee shits they have to wear that say, in capital letters, "SUCK IT UP BUTTERCUP". They had to be told that the shirt's message is offensive because of the sexual connotation. They are unprofessional at best. read more

Peak motion is helping me with my shin splints. I have tried everything I knew from past sports and military experience to heal them on my own for 7 months. In two weeks, Peak Motion has the pain down to a very manageable level. The staff are all professional and know their jobs well. I have seen reviews on here and other websites that say things about how some of the staff come across as abrasive or use "offensive" sayings (Suck it up Buttercup), but I couldn't disagree more. Part of the job is to motivate patients into pushing past their comfort zone and treatment can, and probably, will be uncomfortable, so you will have to suck it up. Most of the staff I have seen and heard interacting with patients do not come across as abrasive at all. read more

I had a knee replacement August 2018 after 5 previous surgeries on the same knee over 14 years prior to the replacement. I was with home PT for 4 weeks then sent to out patient PT with NM Ortho. I left in tears after being accused of not doing my PT. I called my insurance company and insisted on going someplace else, they gave me the number to Peak Motion and I'm glad they did! I went twice a week for three months, Phil, the owner squeezed me in right away after I told him what happened at the other place. The PT's and PTS's are outstanding! No short 50 minute fluffy PT session, I was there at least two hours each time for warm up, exercise, and different modalities for pain. By far the best place for physical therapy in Albuquerque. From Rochelle at the front desk, to massage therapist and everyone in between are friendly and knowledgeable. Although, I didn't have trauma leading to my injury and the xrays I had before attending PM didn't show a fracture, Wan Lee was able to help me figure out my injury was a stress fracture. He figured this out by simply listening to my complaints of areas of pain and realized the severity. Fast forward a few months, healing and increasing activities started causing pain and cramping in other areas. Cameron always listens to my concerns and helps me with exercise and stretching techniques to help with the cramps and keep my pain levels minimal. Cameron really knows his stuff! I've been to other places for physical therapy in the past and those chains did not even compare. I've already recommended PM to others and will continue to do so. I could go on and on with nothing but good things to say about every individual who works at PM but I think my review is clear. PM is the best at what they do. read more

I had rehab here following anterior hip replacement. Initial assessment and appointment with PT was throrough and detailed. After that things deteriorated. The PT had mapped out a plan of exercise which was implemented by PT AIDS - a few were great and a few were sub par and most didn't understand limitations of movement following hip replacement ( despite minor with anterior repair). I attended religiously for a few weeks and the exercises never changed - finally I pointed this out and they changed things around but my care was never really personalized for ME and the PTA's were in total control whilst the PT's spent their time with assessments and it seems no follow up. I did get a follow up after 8 sessions so that they could renew the insurance claims. I finally quit when I realized each session was costing the insurance company $360 minimum - more if I saw the masseuse. I felt I could gain more from walking around the neighborhood, riding my stationary bike and doing water exercise -my MD agreed. Disappointing experience - seems to be a money making operation with limited access to actual PT - would not recommend. GO somewhere where you can actually get treatment from a PT rather than AIDS who stood by and watched and set a timer. read more
