The main part of the mall was clean, there were some empty units, it is easily accessed via the Bus Station Many smaller retail parks and "supermarkets" have a much better choice of shopping while in Leigh town centre now 2* - Not terrible but certainly nowhere near what it used to be.

At the entrance to Spinning Gate is The Goose a decent pub (despite the big screen tv's everywhere you look) with some good beers on offer.

The outside of Wilkinsons store is large, bright, clearly signed, modern and clean. Inside the store is large, spacious, bright and clean and well layed out. There are numerous ailses and these are quite wide so do not get too cramped. The store is offers great ranges of items from homeware to toys, hair colours and toileteries to pet and bird supplies and the prices are competitive.it is like an Aladdins cave and you can spend a good amount of time browsing. The checkouts are situated at the front of the store and they are normally well staffed, the customer service desk is opened to buy purchases when queues build up. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the atmosphere is nice. When you have had a good look around Wilkinsons you could have a shop around the town centre of Leigh and in the Spinning Gate centre and adjoining Market, there are plenty of shops including New Look, Dorothy Perkins, Select, Argos, Claires, Boots and more. There is a large car park at the side of the Spinning Gate centre which is handy, this is pay and display. I would highly recommend Wilkinsons, I often manage to get a bargain from there.

They have good offers on their toiletry section, like buy one get one free and when they have a sale they do reduce the items by 50% to 75% if you go in after christmas they practically give stuff away, I always buy chritmas wrapping and present to put away for the following year, it saves me a fortune.

It's also very neat and tidy which is pretty important to me as I hate it when a shop is in total disarray (think the hellhole that is Primark) as it just makes the whole shopping experience more stressful than it should be. I've always found the staff to be approachable and friendly and will happily dispense advice on the best toaster or coffee machine for your buck, if you so desire. John Lewis is definitely one of the more premium department stores (not quite Harvey Nics but definitely not Debenhams) so the products and prices obviously mirror this but if you are after gifts or items that are of a higher quality then it's a brilliant option. Another major plus point for John Lewis is that if you sign up for their loyalty card online they send you vouchers for free coffee and cake every month - this sweetens the shopping experience no end!

The Cafe is drab and so is the food. I don't know why it's so busy. The staff eren't very friendly either, I can think of 10 places much better only a few minutes walk away. The centre is a great location to access the town centre and shops easily, Leigh town centre has a good selection of shops to browse too, and is small and friendly. The B&M Bargains store is clean, pretty large and is full of great products. Ranging from grocery items, cards, pictures, car products, gifts, seasonal productsa real aladdins cave. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to spare as you may be in the store a while because there is so much to browse, though all at competitive prices. Once you have finished in B&M there are many other shops in the Spinning Gate centre including Argos, Catwalk, Select, Next, Adams, Card shop, Lovely Yankee Candle store, Stationery store and even more to browse in the ajoining Market Hall where you will find fruit, vegetables, butchers, jewellery, clothing, school uniforms, make up and lots more. You may be pleasantly surprised with what you find. I would recommend a visit.

Car Parking isn't free, but being in Wigan town centre there is easy public transport access if coming here via train from Wigan Wallgate, or Wigan North Western, and buses also serve nearby. It's modern and clean and I like how they have a statue dedicated to George Formby, a comedian and singer, known for his ukelele, who was born in Wigan. 3* - Not too bad for a small town, but not worth a trip out for.

They have a 'genuine' sale on at the minute, declaring that you could save 70% - it all sounds very good! I am not the best when it comes to sales and tend to have a brief filter through the sale items and then get totally put off and then swiftly move onto the full priced stuff! I am just no good.
