The main part of the mall was clean, there were some empty units, it is easily accessed via the Bus Station Many smaller retail parks and "supermarkets" have a much better choice of shopping while in Leigh town centre now 2* - Not terrible but certainly nowhere near what it used to be.

Amongst other things, we used to go here for the excellent Leigh Toaster the best cheese in the world for cheese-on-toast or cheese and onion pies. On this visit, we couldn't find any, yet Warrington Market has it. At the entrance to Spinning Gate is The Goose a decent pub (despite the big screen tv's everywhere you look) with some good beers on offer.

It's also very neat and tidy which is pretty important to me as I hate it when a shop is in total disarray (think the hellhole that is Primark) as it just makes the whole shopping experience more stressful than it should be. I've always found the staff to be approachable and friendly and will happily dispense advice on the best toaster or coffee machine for your buck, if you so desire. John Lewis is definitely one of the more premium department stores (not quite Harvey Nics but definitely not Debenhams) so the products and prices obviously mirror this but if you are after gifts or items that are of a higher quality then it's a brilliant option. Another major plus point for John Lewis is that if you sign up for their loyalty card online they send you vouchers for free coffee and cake every month - this sweetens the shopping experience no end!

The Cafe is drab and so is the food. I don't know why it's so busy. The staff eren't very friendly either, I can think of 10 places much better only a few minutes walk away. No second chances on this one i'm afraid.

The centre is a great location to access the town centre and shops easily, Leigh town centre has a good selection of shops to browse too, and is small and friendly. The B&M Bargains store is clean, pretty large and is full of great products. Ranging from grocery items, cards, pictures, car products, gifts, seasonal productsa real aladdins cave. Make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to spare as you may be in the store a while because there is so much to browse, though all at competitive prices. Once you have finished in B&M there are many other shops in the Spinning Gate centre including Argos, Catwalk, Select, Next, Adams, Card shop, Lovely Yankee Candle store, Stationery store and even more to browse in the ajoining Market Hall where you will find fruit, vegetables, butchers, jewellery, clothing, school uniforms, make up and lots more. You may be pleasantly surprised with what you find. I would recommend a visit.

The only thing I absolutely hate about Peacocks is every time you want to try something on you have to ask and assistant for a key to the changing rooms and then hand it back to them afterwards, it is such a pain you feel like you are mithering if you go in the changing rooms more than once, I have stopped shopping their because of this, a lot of people I know who shop there tend to take their items home to try on, which can be a pain when they dont fit and you have to trail back to the shop the next day. I do find sometimes the clothes are smaller fitting and I always buy the next size up and nearly always have to take something back. They have a really good selection of unusualy christmas joke gifts ideal for stocking fillers, and their jewellry collection is fantastic. Peacocks have everything you need from dresses, tops, and trousers to fashion jewellry, shoes, boots, slippers, nightwear, belts and handbags.
