When I think of Primark I think of big queues, big crowds, modern stores and cheap clothes but also…read moreclothes on the lower-quality side, mainly down to the price with Primark basically being a clothing version of ALDI. Located on Church Street, it is basically right bang in the heart of the One and the centre of Liverpool so the location here is really good, the store is quite large and is in an old building so is nowhere near as modern on the outside, or even the inside as other Primark stores I have visited including stores in Gateshead, Cardiff, Newcastle and Amsterdam, most of which I have visited in the past and awarded a three-star rating to. A lack of renovation could let the store down more than ever now, following H&M locating into the old BHS unit, with a more modern store as the retailer is similar to Primark so action is needed soon. This branch of Primark in a way reminds me of Southport's store, inside it isn't too impressive or modern - which is a shame and it contradicts what you would expect considering Liverpool is a big city, the second biggest in north-west England. I didn't like this store, not just because of the poor overall feel but it just was really untidy, I lost count of clothes on the floor before even getting to the men's section (the ladies section os on the ground floor), and by the looks of things, it looked like it had been that way for a while and staff were unbothered by it, and not doing anything to change it, making it an unsatisfactory and unpleasant place to shop overall. An untidy, uninspiring store which even lets Primark down, if you compare this to other branches of Primark including those in Gateshead and Amsterdam, which I did like, it looks like a completely different store, mainly down to the overall feel, staff and cleanliness of a store, this isn't a store I can reccomend or justify anything over a one-star rating for on this occasion.

Every time I walk into Primark, the store is packed with customers the majority of time which…read moresuggests its popularity. It does tend to attract a lot of students and for those who love a bargain, this is the place to shop. Quality of clothing can be unpredictible but it all depends. If you're fortunate, you may find a garment to last you more than a few years. The store itself is plentiful, serving 5 floors which has something to suit everybody. There is even a homeware section on the top tier. Primark is a shop which you'll either love or hate, and I love it!

Slaters has to be my surprise of the decade when it comes to menswear. At first impression, the…read moreflight of stairs does make it feel like walking up an office building but all is not what it seems as I found Slaters to be a useful shop. Having recently checked this store out, I was silently surprised to witness two fantastic floors of quality and affordable menswear with friendly, helpful and vigilant staff that look seriously ready to assist. Initially, I didn't think much of the shop from the outside and thought it would be another overly priced clothes shops. Yet, when you see the choice available, there is a suit to match every man, a tie and shirt plus a nice pair of shoes to fit the bill. Whether or not you like to spend much on clothes, the prices vary from one end of the spectrum to the other and feature many brand names to take your fancy. Overall, an excellent choice and you will be well looked after.

I have brought a number of boys to Slater's to purchase their required formal wear; it's great,…read morethere's a great stock and it's all really reasonably priced. Before visiting we had been to innumerable high street stores: Topman, Burton, French Connection, Zara Men, yes, Primark, and the stock was scanty and the size and style range was very poor. Slater's is jam packed, almost dauntingly so, but there are knowledgeable staff on hand to help. Suits can range from £60 to over £200 or you can hire, (the formal range has been extended recently to include Asian Wear) tuxedos and dinner suits are also stocked, as is highland-wear if you're brave/ Scottish enough. While Slater's is known for it's formal wear, they also stock casual ranges: denim, knitwear, coats, polos as well as shoes and accessories. It also sells ladies-wear which is less well known- this section is quite small however and tends to be more formal: suits, shirts and coats. Slater's really look after their clients offering free alterations, personal shopping and personal appointments with disabled customers. I definitely recommend Slater's, and don't be put off by the "it's tucked away" comments, it's easily locatable just off Church Street!

So, that is indeed what I did and I found the experience to be a bit gloomy and dull. Most clothes are dark in nature and had a rugged texture to them, as though they were already worn. There is a men's section upstairs which sells quite similar clothing but again feels quite dismal and the price tags moderately high. However, if you're the type to go for clothes with a frilly, dull and/or worn out look then All Saints might be the shop for you. For me, it just isn't my style.

I can't help it - I do love All Saints. Those structured, layered dresses, those maxis that look so much cooler than all the paisley ones ladies seem to be wandering round in these days, the jackets that are nothing but strictly ornamental and boots that manage to be masculine and feminine at the same time... it's all here, and it's all stunning. This particular branch has an excellent menswear department with many different vests, and the sales are nothing short of fantastic. I admire All Saints for its quirky design, really not many people can carry it off but it doesn't mean they don't try, and quite frankly I disagree with the idea that everything in the store only suits the long and lean. Different sets offer qualities for different figures, and All Saints has a knack for celebrating this. I'm truly a sucker for it. Just... go in sale period, save yourself from constant sharp intakes of breath.
