Catherines Of Partick

West End, Partick

My mother always got special outfits from Catherine's of Patrick. We visited Catherine's of…read morePatrick today. First of all Lauren who dealt with us was lovely and helpful. Sadly, we would not recommend visiting the shop due to the following: Noisy music playing constantly. A member of staff walked through the shop with a hot curry ( the shop smelt of this for the duration of our visit). No seat for the the person accompanying me. Small changing rooms Tired carpets and a general 'seen better days' feel. I'm sorry to have to post this, but what was an exciting and special event in my life, I was so disappointed.

I've been here a couple of times but never been very inspired by any of the dresses here. I was looking for a dress for my school leavers dance and as I was only 17, I don't think they were sure what to show me, on the one hand I wanted something young and trendy but I also wanted to look classy and sophisticated. They came up with the worst dress I've ever seen in my life, it looked like The Little Mermaid meets Dita Von Teese, it was just bizarre. It had a long tail at the back but the actual dress itself was short with slits up each side. The colour was red with black fish net lace over it, it just looked awful. I honestly cannot think of anywhere that you could have worn that dress unless you were starring in the latest production of Chicago or some burlesque themed theatre show. At £275 it was designed for someone with more money than sense. I think it's still nice to have traditional boutiques such as this one and it does have a very classy feel about it when you go in, but with High Street shops such as Karen Millen and Coast selling gorgeous formal dresses which are a lot more modern and cheap compared to the prices here, I somehow feel that Catherines of Partick is left a bit redundant and is more suited to the mother of the bride look.

Honey Boutique - Poor quality , Poor Customer service !!!!! Do not buy !!! They need reporting , they do not abide by the sales of goods act

You'll find the Honey Boutique quite a way along Dumbarton Road. Yes, it's a bit of a trek from the…read moremain shopping area that is Byres Road - but it's worth it. Inside you'll find a great selection of shoes, clothes and accessories. The clothes take a bit of a back seat to the shoes and accessories - but that is no bad thing. Their selection of handbags is gorgeous, and encompasses all from sparkly clutch bags to full totes. At the moment they have a rainbow of different colours in - which is great to see. Do you know what else? All bags are priced at £30 or less. Bargain! The shoes are just as lovely and just as reasonably priced. Again, a great selection from ugg-style fashion boots to sky high heels and gladiator sandles. The owner, Sarah, is really friendly and will greet you the moment you walk in the door. Also, if you don't want to make the trek down to Dumbarton Road - you can shop via their online store.

I am normally a size 8 in most stores-this dress fitted like a peplum top! When sending back the items I made sure this was done within 14 days and have a receipt to prove this. Honey Boutique advised they have not received it within 14 days so I will not be entitled to a refund and they will take a 20% restocking fee! Total joke. They will not accept my proof of postage and advised that I should contact Royal Mail for the refund of £60. I would avoid ordering from Honey Boutique, never had these problems with any online orders from other companies. Currently going through Citezens advise who are assisting me in taking it further and have advised me I am entitled to full refund as I did cancel within the 14 day cooling off period. Have read lots of reviews on other sties about the hassle with trying to get a refund from this company. Nightmare!

I actually love Wilkies - I've got a few dresses out of here myself (and they were under £50 -…read morebargain!) but I especially love their good old-fashioned customer service. My Gran used to regularly shop here before she fractured her pelvis, but she's been in recently to pick out an outfit for a wedding - and the staff were a massive help, offering to take things downstairs for her to try on, instead of her having to go up and down the spiral stairs, and made what could have been a stressful shopping trip a lot easier!

Admittedly, these clothes aren't aimed towards my age group but even for those who may want to purchase them, I found them a bit expensive. I don't know if I was expecting this place to be along the same lines as Happit, or perhaps more provincial and selling some practical wooly jumpers to help locals brave the elements. It's more designer than the aging fronting of the shop store sign may suggest, and so more expensive. There were a lot of studded jumpers and work trousers downstairs, along wiith a section dedicated to selling insulated jackets and more practical fashions. Upstairs, Wilkies hosts lingerie, bedwear and some designers. The clothing on this floor is more up market and more up to date than that of downstairs. A lot of the clothes up here struck me as being suitable for trendy dinner parties, and some items would certainly suit someone in the process of jazzing up their wardrobe. But with jackets coming in at a cool £150 each, it was hard to see past the price label. This store is undoubtedly handy for locals and is certainly good quality. But if you're looking for something a bit more up to date at a slightly cheaper price, you're probably better going to M&S.

Resonating an undeniable throwback feel as soon as you enter, everything about this place feels tired, from the decor to the stock, and in particular the wall of unquestionably the least attractive underwear I have ever encountered in my life. During my scout around I think I spotted every Christmas present my gran had ever bought me. For nostalgia alone, I've tagged on another star, but really this is a two star place, the demise of which is regrettable but unsurprising.

Now despite the name it must be pointed out that this shop is not in Clydebank, honestly....why…read morewould i lie. No, its in Milngavie. Please don't ask me why this is the case and do not read on in this review expecting an explanation as to why the odd choice of name...it ain't gonna happen. Soooooooo, this is pretty much your old style general store filled with old folk clothes and bits and bobs. The kind of place where your granny buys you a jumper that's well, nice thank you, but nothing you would want a live human being seeing you wearing. Anyway, i can imagine that this place would be a great joint to get some thermal long johns, welly boots, tights (for you lady types), gloves and other 'meh' clothing. Well then, that's it. Visit the Clydebank Co-op...in Milngavie, why not ask somebody in the shop why its called the Clydebank Co-op when its in Milngavie and watch there face crumple into a "please piss off and leave me alone, why do you hate me, do you realise i have to deal with old folk every minute of the day" look of absolute disdain, hatred and exacerbation all at once, try it.
