The attitude of nearly every staff member I've ever had to ask a question have been so rude and I have been approached by some members of staff telling me to "move" because they need to get the cages of stock through the aisle. I can't say it's every person who works there but it's a good majority. One lady was so rude to me when I was 9 months pregnant and on crutches I asked her to reach something down from a high shelf for me and was told I "shouldn't get pregnant if I can't cope with it and that I look young enough to manage". The whole place is more intimate than large department stores such as House of Fraser or John Lewis, and the feeling is one of quality over quantity. For me, the gift and homeware areas are probably the most appealing, but glancing into their other 'departments' they have a Homes & Gardens area, a kitchen department, a range of furniture, plus some fabrics, lamps, mirrors, and more. They also offer an interior design service, though I dread to think how much that costs.

Their gift section is also fantastic with brands like L'Occitane and Burt's Bees for toiletries, some really pretty scarves and jewellery, and then beautiful gift bags and paper to wrap them in. It's a shame this department store is hidden away and now has to compete with John Lewis, because it sells such beautiful things and it could be so easily missed if you didn't know about it. It's expensive, but everything is so nice that if I want something, I have to have it however much it costs.

Brecon Beacons have a few shops inside including, Priceless shoes, a nail bar, chinese herb shop, purfume shop, MKone, Clarks, The princapality bank, a cafe, an army recrutiment centre, a lottery booth, a greetings card shop and a gamestation. It is always clean in the area and gets quite busy as everyone parks in Tesco and walks through there to get to the town centre.

An old relation owns a wonderful hotel in a neighbouring town and she loves to come to Nicholls, both in Aber and in Crick, so that's a good sign. To be honest, I only went because my aunt asked me to take her there for Christmas dinner (she doesn't get one, where she is). I chauffeured, she bought the food. For £8 odd, you got a good plate of food, with separate vegs & potatoes and a gravy boat. Wonderful. And the turkey actually had taste. Yes, amazing. I don't know if it was free range/organic, or just fresh and local but this was stunning. I hate turkey normally, because of it's blandness but this was in a different league. All the accompaniments were also extremely fresh and tasty. They don't advertise as being free range/organic, rather local/fresh (which avoids them having to check suppliers, I guess, but I'd put money on the turkey at least being free range). I haven't generally been to M&S for clothes before, besides the otherday when I tried on a linen suit to make my other half laugh via a surprise MMS message from me. The lady at the changing rooms was so sweet and give you a grade A service, it almost made me feel little guilty I was here to muck around. However what i do go in for quite often is the food. M&S advertisements could be seen as hyperbolic in how salacious they are shot. I disagree, the food is very good quality and have always had great dinners from here. Another misconception is that the food here is expensive, again I disagree sir. There are always some greet 3 for 2 deals on food and if I'm feeling lazy I can spend about a fiver for a ready made meal, a tasty ready made food I may add. I've also got a couple of presents from here and bought a lovely rose for my mum to plant for Mother day, all for a price of £6.99 And finally the most important thing, the booze. There is a great selection of white/red\rose wine and champagne. Again starting at reasonable price to prices that do justify the M&S common conception. Oh and nearly forgot, M&S is one of the very few places that will do custom celebration cakes in the city. Give it atleast a week before the event though.

I don't often buy clothes here but I have noticed they are a lot better than they used to be and much more reasonable that I expected. The gift section is always fantastic, especially at christmas and its just so nice to have somewhere in the city to pick up some lovely food and a bottle of wine to enjoy when you get home.

Shops you find in every town in Britain. The Quadrant itself is quite pleasant though, it has a predominently glass roof which allows it to be very bright and airy inside. The bus station also comes out of one end, so finding it is very easy, and also you won't have far to carry bags to get a bus. Or even to get to your car if you choose to park in the NCP which also adjoins the Quadrant. You can also get to Swansea Market via an entrance in the Quadrant. The largest store by far is Debehams, which is a large department store and takes up almost an entire wing of its own. ANECDOTE: I was sick on the doors of Debehams one Christmas as I was shopping for presents and very rapidly came down with a virus. There are public toilets (free) upstairs which are clean and well maintained. The buidling is decorated according to the seasons, and a large Christmas tree is the focus during the winter.
