The place is cute and pretty festival. My biggest issue is I have a 6 ft tree, but the bottom of our tree just will not stand straight. It keeps tilting and it is so annoying. We bought longer eye bolts for our stand. Our stand can handle up to 8ft trees. But the base of the tree is super skinny. We bought the one similar to the noble fir. Cute farm animals like goats on one side, plus picnic table to rest and look out at the view if you really wanted to. Can pick and cut down your own tree (ngl, my tiny arms weren't up for it but my bf sawed it down just fine). No rush, just take your time grabbing a tree. Overall, great experience. Wish there was a little bit more pricing options depending on height instead of all trees no matter the size same price (I think $90), but still really great. Large selection of trees and friendly staff. I called multiple tree farms and Peacock was the only one who picked up. What attracted me to Peacock is that they offer free tree shaking. I needed all the loose bugs to go flying off. The road leading to the farm can be narrow but just drive slow and carefully. I put the seat down on my car and was able to fit the tree through the trunk. If you haven't tried it, cutting your own tree makes a great family outing. They have saws, will help you get it up (or down) to your car) and net it if you want. Peacock is right at the top of the Santa Cruz Mountains off the Summit Road exit, and then easy to find (follow the signs. They price all their trees all the same, which is great for us because we need a tall one for our two-story living room. We learned about Peacock Tree Farm from a friend, and we love the quality of the trees - the needles stay on. We just add warm water and can sprite, and trim off 2 inches when we get home. The tree doesn't drop a single needle. My 5-year-old son loves coming here for the candy canes. We will never stop coming, and we'll tell all of our friends. First time here and the tree we found is absolutely beautiful, full and very green! They offer saws to cut down any tree you want and even offer pre cut Noble Firs if that is what you are looking for. They also have a machine that will shake all of your needles which was handy because we didn't have so many needles drop all over our car & inside our house. Our ceilings are 8 ft & we had to cut about 1.5 ft in order to get our angel topper on. Overall very happy with our tree we will be back next year! It was my first time cutting down my own Christmas tree but it won't be my last! I love how Peacock Farms has at least 5 different types of pines for you to choose from, and there's nothing like the amazing fresh smell of hundreds of live pine trees surrounding you. You're given a saw attached to a long pole and once you cut down your tree the staff will put it in a net and help you tie it onto your car. It's a flat cost of $70 per tree, which is fine if you get a big tree but if you take home a tiny one it's not worth it. read more

There are a ton of tree farms clustered in this area of the Santa Cruz mountains, and there is nothing wrong with this one. However, don't let the advertised apple cider fool you, this is one of the bare bones, no frills farm options. The apple cider is a thermos on a card table manned by teenagers with flat affect. The trees are fine, but not unusually full or healthy looking. The teenagers won't help you because it's "a liability." There are nearby farms with friendlier staff, larger selection, and things like a little hut selling wreaths and reindeer made of wood. I will probably go to one of those next year. read more

Start a family tradition and go out to get some fresh, crisp mountain air and chop down a tree together rather than buy one in a parking lot. Even if you don't start a tradition, at least do it once in your life! I'm not going to lie this place is a little tricky to navigate just because once you exit off of highway 17, the road becomes 1 lane, repeat ONE WINDY LANE. So you have to drive carefully and slowly for oncoming traffic. Once you get there you are greeted and they give you a flyer/map explaining the two tree lots they have. When you park, it's simple. Just grab your saw (it is provided) and go down and find your perfect tree! Help yourself out to the complimentary hot cider, yum!!! I can't tell if I love the cider or if it just tastes good because it's so cold. Anyway, they have a large selection of trees and there's no way you won't find one. Chopping a tree is harder than it looks, everyone can take a turn, and don't forget to yell TIMBERRRRR (emphasis on the burrrrrrr!! Cause it's cold....). The guys working are extremely helpful and nice and will help you with carrying your tree, netting it, and getting it on your car. read more

First time we decided to cut down our tree, along with everyone else apparently, since COVID has made any activity outside the house exciting! Experience wise, this place was excellent. They were doing a wonderful job of controlling how many people were allowed on at once so it wasn't overcrowded. When we located and cut down our tree, a staff member carried it to the car for us (major score since it was uphill!). I also appreciated the shakers they have, as it prevents the tree from "shedding" as much once you get it home. Why I did 4 stars instead of 5 was that the selection of trees wasn't great. We came the first weekend of December, and I know many folks go the day after thanksgiving, but I still would have expected a good selection that early in the "season". The tree we ended up with is cute, it just has a lot more "personality", meaning it is sparse here and there and is very thin at the top. All in all, great experience, and we'll probably try going the day after thanksgiving next year to see if the selection is better. read more

I'd put 0 stars if I could. My family and I have been coming to this tree farm for 12 years now and we will never return. This is a PSA to all families with dogs. Dear friends, family and fellow dog owners, I pray this message reaches you as a further attempt to spread awareness surrounding the tragic incident involving the untimely passing of my 3 year old pitbull puppy Dani who many of you knew and loved. Those of you who plan to visit any of our local Christmas tree farms during these upcoming weeks prior to the holiday should be made aware that places like Peacock Tree Farms in the Santa Cruz mountains have toxic mushrooms growing amongst their trees, and if ingested by humans OR pets the results are fatal. My aim here is not to slander Peacock Tree Farms but to instead point out their negligence for allowing patrons to bring pets on to their property without any warnings or signs posted alerting those of us like myself who love to bring our furry companions along as if they were part of the family. I visited Peacock Farms this past Saturday and was greeted at the entrance by a number of employees who admired and asked to pet my friendly little girl as she poked her head out of my truck eager to join us in the hunt for the perfect tree. I had Dani on her leash the entire time we were there but as any parent knows all too well, you could turn your back for just a split second and never know what your child/pet has gotten into. Having never suspected her of eating anything during our time on the lot we left as happy customers with our tree and continued on with our day. But upon waking up Sunday morning it was already too late. I awoke to my poor baby girl, hypothermic, paralyzed and already losing the battle to liver failure. Rushing her to the vet and the thousands of dollars spent trying to diagnose the problem proved futile. The vets were first convinced based on her symptoms that she had somehow ingested rat poison so I began tracing back the last 3-5 days in the hopes to pin point an explanation for when she could have gotten into any rat bait. That lead me to call the tree farm with curiosities about it they sprayed or left rat poison out anywhere on their farm. They denied any use of Rodenticides on their property but voluntarily gave up the info about the mushrooms. Having already left the vet leaving Dani there to receive plasma treatment over he next 48 hours for the suspected rat poison I received a call from my vet a couple hours later Sunday afternoon alerting me to a change in her diagnosis. MUSHROOMS. Fatal within 24 hours when ingested by a dog. Liver transplants just aren't done for pets and no amount of money in the world could've saved her at that point. She held on just long enough for me to say goodbye. To those of you that have social media platforms I ask you to please spread the word of Dani's passing in the efforts to hopefully save another pet. Nothing can be done to bring my little girl back but hopefully her story can serve as a PSA during this holiday season to ensure that no one else has to lose a loving companion over the negligence of a business during what should always be a cheerful experience taking a family outing to go cut down a Christmas tree. Take the time this holiday to really cherish every moment you have with your pets. Dani was the most amazing, loving and happy puppy and I know she touched many of your lives like she did mine. Our family has gotten our Christmas tree each year from Peacock Tree Farm for the last several years, after switching from a prelit artificial tree for fresh trees. We love this place! There are so many trees! The mountain setting is also beautiful. All the folks that work there and everyone who had ever helped us had always been friendly, courteous and helpful. You drive up and get greeted and given an explanation of how everything works--from pricing, to how to cut your tree, etc. I didn't truly appreciate the flat price here until we went to another farm in Auburn this weekend where they charge by the foot, plus tax. There's even free hot cider and candy canes here at Peacock, which our daughter likes! I would also always take trimmings/branches they have on the ground by the netting area home to create swags and wreaths for my windows. We have recent moved out of the Bay Area and didn't think we'd miss this place as much as we do. But having been to one in the Sierra foothills today after doing our research, we really truly miss Peacock! If you're getting a fresh tree, there's really no comparison between going here and cutting your own tree and buying a precut one from a grocery or home improvement store lot. It really is a great place to make it a fun family event on a weekend morning and let that become a family tradition! read more

Had a great experience with my entire family! We found our perfect tree and got a good photo session with everyone! The staff was friendly and greeted us upon arrival and handed us our tool to cut down our tree (saw). Any tree is $60 no matter the size, unless you find one with a ribbon on it this one is $50, if you want your tree netted it's $3 extra. There are 3 lots and lots 1 and 2 have great views! What a fun family Christmas tradition we will now experience every year!! (A friend referred us to this tree farm as he grew up in Los Gatos as a kid.) We didn't know what to expect, but when we arrived, we were met by jolly, cheerful attendants who explained what happens next: 1) chose a lot (we chose Lot #1, the best!!); 2) we'd get to walk through the farm to pick and chop our own tree; 3) free hot apple cider included; 4) netting/rope available; and 5) live music/caroling was happening! It was so cool to take our time and meander around the inventory of trees - nestled in the beautiful outdoors overlooking a magnificent view of the mountains!! My adult children (son and daughter) were with me (hubby was on biz travel), and we laughed and teased about being lumber jacks as we looked and hiked around looking for the perfect tree. We have cathedral ceilings in our new mountain house, so height and fullness were top priority. Finally found one, and chopping it down was so much fun - you'll never pick a Christmas tree the old way again!! Called this farm as a last resort and should of been the first! listen to this- went to 4 different home depots and other tree lots in the local Santa Clara/San Jose area. The selection was horrible and the service was spotty. Tree prices ranged from $70-110 for 7-8ft trees. Ended up seeing this farm on yelp so my roommate and I called here asking how their inventory is? They replied kindly saying they have hundreds of trees with EIGHT different species. This farm is beautiful! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely family operated and I love it. They have tons of picnic tables throughout the farm with free hot apple cider. The view is insane, over looks a ton of beautiful Christmas trees with huge hills in the background. Great pictures. Any tree on the lot is $65 plus $3 if you want it netted. You must cut down the tree yourself. Too simple too easy (don't forget to take videos)! They have plenty of saws that are provided to you for free. I thought the tree was going to take 10 min to cut down and it took all of 30 seconds lol. They do all the netting after you bring the tree to them. After they net it, they give you free twine to strap it down to your car/truck. Oh and free candy canes lol. They also offer wreaths for $25 and other arrangements but I forget. Tree: Dry dry dry tree. It was raining needles all of December. Within a week of getting the tree it was a real life version of the Charlie Brown Christmas tree, you barely touched it and a pile of needles fell. I realize the area is still recovering from the drought, but it was extremely disappointing. We normally take our tree down New Year's day, but this year we had it down before noon the day after Christmas. Please note, we did provide the tree plenty of water and it was not near a heat source. It was just seriously dry. Service: The workers were friendly and informative. Even though they were busy, saws were readily available. There were snacks available and candy canes were provided on the way out. Location: Super close to the Summit Rd. exit. Please note the terrain of the farm itself can be very steep if you happened to have folks in your group with mobility issues. While I love the experience of cutting down our own tree, I may skip it for a few years until we have had more regular years of rain or go to one of the farms in the Sierras when we visit family there. read more

This was my first time chopping down my own tree so I don't have much to compare it to. The drive is a bit tricky since it's an uphill windy road that gets very narrow as you get closer to the farm. Other than that, it was easy to find since signs clearly pointed out where it was. An attendant at the entrance explains the whole process to you before you enter so you're not clueless about how to begin. There is free hot apple cider available as well as snacks for purchase close to the parking lots. The tree cutting itself was easier than I expected. We cut ours down in less than 2 minutes. They offer free twine and wrap your tree in netting for an additional $3. The tree farm is gorgeous with sweeping views of greenery and hillside. The air was also crisp, cool and a perfect ambiance to our holiday adventure. We saw people picnicking here as well since there are benches available and I think we will do that next time and make a whole day if it. Trees are all a set price of $65.
