Acqua is a pretty great spot to get your hair did in Guelph. It is an Aveda concept salon as well,…read morewhich comes along with a set of ideals and products that give the place a neat feel. Haircuts come with complimentary hot towel, scalp massage, and beverage (coffee/delicious herbal tea/Hot apple cider + spiced rum if you're lucky). I'm a guy so my haircuts aren't as complicated as many of the people reading this might be getting, but i can say that even for a simple "guy" cut, the stylists I have had take great care and have great attention to detail nonetheless. I have never been disappointed. Melissa is my regular hairdresser, but I'm sure the rest of the stylists are of the same calibre. I pay upwards of $25 for my haircut + wash. If you're a student, make sure to mention it, as there's a discount for this.

She made an appointment over the phone clearly stating her budget and when she arrived she was quoted $450 for brown balayage, toner, and a cut. That is ridiculous!!! When she said she was not able to pay that, they offered to balayage her hair WITHOUT A TONER, for $300. They then went on to explain that a toner would be $80 extra and a cut $75 extra!! I would have walked out right away. That is not right in any way and you can tell they only care about the money and not about their clients. These people were about to let her walk out of there with untoned, wet hair before they offered a "complimentary" blowout. If they can let a client walk out of their salon with out toning their hair and at least drying it, that puts their reputation on the line as well and they so obviously do not care. TONER SHOULD BE INCLUDED ANY TIME HAIR IS BLEACHED. DO NOT GO HERE.

I finally tried out BBare Beauty Bar and let me tell you I have never experienced a pain free wax before, I didn't have any skin irritation and ALL of my hair was removed. I have been waxed by both Monica and Melinda and these ladies know how to wax. Bonus they are speedy and hygienic. If you are looking for any waxing, I would definitely recommend BBare Beauty Bar.

However, he didn't ask me anything at all--not what sort of hairstyle I wanted, nor what my concerns were--and as soon as he came in, he started cutting without saying a word. When I asked, 'Aren't you going to ask me anything?', he replied, 'I can tell the moment I walk in.' Eh?? It was my first time there; he didn't know the texture of my hair, and he hadn't even asked what sort of hairstyle I wanted--so how on earth could he possibly know? The cut was finished in less than 30 minutes. As soon as he started drying my hair, he began pushing all sorts of products on me. The cut wasn't very good. It was rather slapdash, and he finished it off looking quite frizzy. Then, when it came to paying, he was standing nearby but immediately went off somewhere, so I didn't even get a 'thank you'. As he was the 'master', I paid $120, but I definitely don't want to go back there again. Also, as someone else did my shampoo, I was asked to tip her as well. So I ended up paying double in tips. The other staff were very friendly, but his customer service was truly arrogant.
