This was the first season the campground, and the 11 full hookup sites were well equipped with a gravel pad, fire ring, and a large wooden picnic table. A large play-set for children and a lake to fish in are ready to use. There is a lot of room between sites, and tall trees provide partial shade. The setting is close to a quiet rural road where Amish buggies frequently go by. A farm with donkeys and a horse is at the back of the sites. There is one private full bathroom with a shower, and one private toilet. Lake Lucy is only 15 minutes drive to the hiking trails of Cook Forrest State Park. There are several rail trails for biking nearby, and the Drake Oil Well State Historic Park in Titusville. Drake's well was the first commercially successful oil well in the world! Our hosts were amazing and open to communication. Firewood is available to buy at the campground. Nearby trails are the Route 66, Oil City, Samuel Justus, and Allegheny National Forest Trails.

If I could give 0 stars I would. I came up for an event at the farm show grounds (yes the event…read moreyou're thinking of). I made a reservation and paid in full the day after it was announced 6 days beforehand . I got a call the day before Friday stating that I wasn't able to check in until 1PM and the latest was 8PM. I asked if I could park there before the event and deal with it later. The owner reluctantly agreed, however said that my vehicle would be towed if I came after 8. He also stated that I couldn't check in early or wait a little. Gates closed at 1; and was over at 8 and couldn't leave the parking lot until 10. Needless to say I just drove home 3 hours instead. Mind you the "campground" is a quarter mile from the farm show grounds. I honestly just wanted somewhere to rest my eyes for a couple of hours in my car before I left early on the morning. I understand that places like this have policies, however this was probably the largest congregation of people Butler and the Farm Show has ever hosted. There was 10s of thousands of people in town and as a bonus the rounds were closed to due construction. If you lean even a little right, caveat emptor. The guy knew exactly what was doing. This will be the most expensive $35 this guy ever stole.

Detour is 6 miles in a roundabout way through sheep pastures, cow pastures, horse stables, random deer in fields, tandem horses / buggy driving on an unimproved road, lots of horse and cow "muffins", and a huge fallen branch of a tree that obstructed half the road. Once at the KOA, we were pleased w bathrooms (the flush factor was fabulous), tent sites, other amenities. One of the better KOAs on this trip.

As a koa VIP member I expected "yes" As that is the way I have been treated at koa across the country. I was surprised that a request to return the unopened plastic bagged wood bundle was refused. The answer surprised me even more. "Too much bother" I'll find another koa next time too much bother to come to this one where being a VIP member means nothing

We took a day trip to Niagara Falls to do the Maid of the Mist- it's about two hours away. This is not a fancy park but I would highly recommend. I think Cooper's Lake imports extra fireflies just for us (we don't have them in CA) and this year's fireflies didn't disappoint! I wish it had been easier to get our trailer storage contract started by phone though. I had been trying to call to begin a contract a year ago (yeah, COVID) and even several months ago was still unable to get someone to give details or make a commitment while I was trying to communicate by both phone and email. I hate leaving such important plans to last minute, hoping it could happen when I got to site,but that's what we ultimately had to do. Perhaps having a little more info for what to expect in this process be available on the website would help the uber-planners like myself. All in all, thanks for being my favorite annual vacation! There is a lot of planning to provide good infrastructure and Cooper's Lake Campground does it right.
