I just spent the past week and a half at the Cooper's Lake Campground for the Pennsic War (a massive event held by the Society for Creative Anachronism aka SCA). First, I was very impressed with the grounds! They are very well maintained and are beautiful. The Cooper staff were all wonderful, welcoming, and helpful whether it was at the Cooper Store or about the grounds. The Cooper Store was also impressive-it was massive in size, and had nearly anything you could imagine for camping (minus the tent, of course) as well as some extras. While I stopped inside for a slushy on a hot day, I checked out a number of the items in the store. They had great looking produce, a freezer section of meats, fresh breads and pastries...and we treated ourselves to a frozen box of petit fours. They were delicious! Before leaving, we also snagged a few jars of different Cooper jams-can't wait to try them! I also have to say that my camp mates and I were all impressed with the regular servicing of the portapotties (or, as we call them, 'porta-castles'). Can't wait to go back to Pennsic next year!

It is an older campground and 'rustic' but a very nice place to stay. The owners, Bob and Andi, are extremely nice and accommodating, the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the campers that we encountered were friendly as well. The store has a wide selection of food items plus fishing and camping items. There is an ice cream shop that serves hot food items as well as ice cream treats. A nice trail leads through the woods, down to the pond and through the campground. They have a lot of fun activities for all ages every weekend. We have two Labrador Retrievers, and although there isn't a doggie park, there is ample place to walk your dog. As for shopping, we found Butler to have pretty much everything we needed. We didn't get a chance to go to the Freeport-Butler Rails to Trails, but if you like long walks or biking that is the place to try. The surrounding county-side is beautiful. As workers, we came in for a winter site before the campground actually opened for the season. They have a lot of seasonal campers and when the grounds opened, the people came in and cleaned up their sites nicely. As I said, folks are friendly. They are constantly striving to make improvements; fixing up sites, roads, services, internet service, etc. I would recommend this campground to anyone who is looking for a place to stay. Unless you prefer to have a place with cement patios, trash picked up at your site and all the other perks, then this is a place to consider if you are in the Pittsburgh area. We were suppose to be here into August but got sent to another job earlier than that. We enjoyed our visit and were disappointed that we had to leave so soon. GREAT PLACE

Its cool. They got a pool and a little arcade. Clean bathrooms for the most part. I recomendread more

This campground is the type of place I always wanted to visit as a kid. It is huge with so many…read moreactivities that you could literally spend your entire vacation here and never leave the grounds. I recently visited with my partner and our two kids. Let's just say, we aren't totally the dedicated campers where we need to pitch tents, bring all the accessories and sleep on the ground. That's why this place especially stood out as they had luxury cabins for rent. Or as my partner said, I'm good as long as I have air conditioning and running water! The cabin came with a screened-in porch, an outdoor fire pit for evening s'mores, a loft where the kids slept, a full living room and kitchen with refrigerator another room with bunkbeds, a bathroom and then the master bedroom at the back of the cabin complete with dressers to put away your clothes. I'm one of those people that always unpacks and must have things organized, so it was a lifesaver. You can rent golf carts, highly recommended as the grounds are spacious and some of the cabins are located far away from the activities. There are also communal laundry facilities, which were great to have since we had to use them day 1 of our trip! The common area offers free activities like playgrounds, mini golf, character meet n' greets and wagon rides along with firetruck rides. Other activities cost extra like ceramic making, tie die shirt making, glitter tattoos and several others. Some nights they offer free movie screenings and other programs. Overall, this was like camping without the pain! That's my kind of camping. Cabin rentals are a little pricey, but with all that space, it could accommodate a large family or even combine it with others to help split the cost. Finally, the biggest hit was the water park. This is a can't miss. We got a poolside cabana and spent most of our days here. The kids didn't want to leave!
