For the last 4 years after my dog was diagnosed with cancer I knew the day would come that I had to make the choice of when to let her go. We did 2 surgeries to try and save her but the cancer came back each time. My dog Gracie was a rescued Pit Bull from the South Central Pound. She was a few years old when I adopted her and I had her for about 13 years. But not once did she ever slow down, she acted and looked like a puppy till her last day. Which made it even harder to make the choice to let her go. One day while driving I saw the van for peaceful Pets and I took a picture of their info and saved it. After taking Gracie to 2 vets who both agreed putting her down is the best option for her. I struggled with my choice and even cancelled our apt with peaceful pets and they didn't get upset with me. Instead they sympathized with me and even sent me links on how to know when it's time to let your pet go. After another few more days we made another apt and they came to the house. These 2 ladies were so sweet and respectful. The came in and pet Gracie and made friends with her. The process was explained and we went forward with it. And this process with night and day between putting your pet down at a vet vs. doing it at your own home. Even with this being one of the hardest things I've had to do, this process made it so much easier to handle. My dog was happy and relaxed and she was sedated while eating raw steak and surrounded by her family. I couldn't think of a better way to go for our dog. They handled her body with care and love as they put her on their stretcher and took her away. I will use this service for future pets and will recommend this to everyone I can. read more

3 weeks ago we had to euthanize our near 17 year old cat Charlie. His kidneys were failing and he had an aggressive tumor in his mouth. We were devastated. He was a big part of our family. They came right away to our home to help me with Charlie and made something which was so hard for me to do very comforting and peaceful for Charlie. They also took good care of him afterward and his ashes were returned to me in a timely fashion and in a beautiful wood box with his name plate engraved on top. Dr. Yamamoto was recommended to us by Dr. Somerville at VCA surgery center and we could not say strongly enough that her presence love and care for our little girl was beyond exceptional. I've been a hospice nurse for over a decade and know a lot about death at home, but had never experienced it with a pet before. Our Lucia had inoperable cancer of the mouth and had a very fast and sharp decline. My husband and I both spoke to Dr. Yamamoto separately in the days prior to her coming to our home in Santa Monica. She is the perfect kind hearted, professional, clear and loving person for this type of situation. I was able to stay in bed with Lucia the entire time and held her while the Dr. explained what she was doing. She initially gave her a small injection to help sedate her. That took about 5 minutes. (This was the most challenging part for me because our kitty started shaking a little bit before she calmed down) Then the Dr placed an IV and gave 2 more medications. She talked us through the entire process as she was working. We had made a wonderful playlist that was in the background and although this was one of the most painful experiences I have shared with my husband, it could not have been more graceful. Dr. Yamamoto was very considerate and patient which allowed for a very natural pace. I really feel like all the love and care I have given my hospice patients over the years was returned 100% with Dr. Yamamoto. Some people are simply blessed with this gift of wisdom and compassion. If you are considering home euthanization you have found the right person. We were also able to keep our little one on dry ice for several days to help with the grieving process. This is not something that many people know about, but this supported us more than you might imagine. We were able to still touch her and talk with her and cry while her body was still in our home. We buried her several days later in a friends backyard in a wonderful ceremony. Our Lucia had a magical life and a profoundly beautiful death. Dr. Yamamoto also sent a card in the days that followed that was so meaningful to us. I'm sending all of you still reading this my love and compassion for the journey of your little Spirit animals. I went over to support my daughter while her 10 year old Golden was being euthanized by Dr. Jeanette and her assistant. They arrived at the scheduled time, in scrubs and were extremely professional, soft-spoken and caring throughout. They provided treats and explanations for everything they were doing along with possible reactions (which never occurred). Bowie was put totally at ease in the comfort of his own patio before the sedatives were even administered. After the drugs were given, he drifted peacefully off to sleep. They came in with a proper stretcher and gently lifted him aboard and tucked him in with nice doggy blankets, leaving his head exposed (which I think helped minimize the emotional impact). Very respectful. He was carried to their car for transport. This is the first time I have seen a service like this. I have had to say goodbye to numerous dogs over the years, and this was by far the most gentle, respectful process I could imagine. read more

Unfortunately, we had to put down our Doberman so we requested the doctor to come to our home. The situation overall isn't ideal, but the doctor and nurse made the situation as comfortable as it could be. They were so patient and understanding to what our Doberman needed and also what we needed as owners. Janet walked us through everything and knew when to give us the time we needed. Her timing was perfect and respectful. After everything was finished, Janet and the nurse could have just left, but stayed behind to help us move the body and cover the body.
