Lots of space inside for a coffee shop. Both our lattes were served in a reasonable amount of time, considering there was only one barista behind the counter on this Saturday morning. Very few breakfast offerings that weren't primarily sugar - I only saw one - so we skipped breakfast and settled for coffee. Pricing was a bit high for the coffee, but I'm sure so is the rent. This includes very creative offerings. The building is itself a historical site. The pictures on the interior document that it was once a Pan Am service station. Its architecture has an art-deco flavor. It's really great when a historical site can be saved and reused as a modern community asset. Since this establishment is right on the highway, it's easy to stop on while passing through.

Of course I chose somewhere that I felt was the best Alexandria has to offer in an atmosphere where he could enjoy a beverage and have plenty of space and privacy to relax and unwind (he is the first boyfriend I ever took to meet my parents so the pressure was real!) This shop is located in downtown Alexandria with super quirky decor, lots of seating, and several book and game options to pass the time! I also loved the hidden notes in the bookcase that gave book recommendations. I have tried several of their drinks here throughout the years. Most recently I tried one of their seasonal drinks, the reindeer chow but asked them to hold the chow to make it a cookie butter latte with oat milk (wasn't really in the mood for a chocolatey cereal chow meal in my drink but loved the concept)! I also ordered the avocado toast. The latte was perfectly balanced, yet rich and delicious! It was also served at the perfect drinkable temp. The avocado toast was THICK and the avocado and egg topping seemed fresh. It was very filling and a nice dose of healthy protein after all the holiday indulgence! I will ALWAYS come back to this coffee shop when I'm in town especially since it holds a precious memory for me.
