I had ruled out the upstream O2 sensor, catalytic converter (both new), MAP sensor, and fuel injectors. I explained all of this to Matt before bringing the car in. He assured me they could perform deeper diagnostics with their equipment. After dropping off the car, Matt called and told me they had "confirmed" exactly what I had already told them, and that the next step would be pulling spark plugs--for an additional fee. At that point, I decided to go elsewhere. What I don't understand is why I was still charged the full $85 diagnostic fee, plus a $4 hazardous materials fee and $3 shop supply fee. Plugging a car into a diagnostic scanner does not generate any hazardous waste--no fluids are drained, no chemicals are used, and no parts are replaced. There's nothing about a basic scan that would justify a hazardous materials charge. That kind of fee typically applies when disposing of things like oil, coolant, or other regulated waste, none of which occurred here. In the end, I paid $92, wasted time and gas, and learned nothing new. The most concerning part was Matt admitting he didn't even know spark plugs would need to be checked as part of further diagnosis.

My husband physically dropped off brake pads to this joint and told him it would be 120 for installation. To my surprise when I got there, the guy gave me a price of 275 total. I looked at him shocked and looked in my husband because they told him 120 and my oil change was $70, it should be $190. now it's costing $275?! I'm, where did all these EXTRA CHARGES come from?! I informed the guy that my husband was told 120 not $205. This guy began laughing and was adamant about the 275 . I told him my husband brought the brake pads. Come to find out, it was THIS SAME DUDE that gave him that quote! This guy then told me RREELLLAAAXXX with a condescending tone. I let him know that you really shouldn't be telling women to relax if there's an error on YOUR end because he forgot to take off the brake pads from the estimate. No apology was given, he continued to have an attitude with me and then with my husband. Zero accountability on his part.
