We are driving through Canada and stayed overnight in Bassano, a prairie town. The motel lobby had a flyer and the staff recommended this restaurant. We are glad we took their suggestion.
This restaurant is a small one with the kitchen open to the dining room. PD opened this eatery one year ago and is the one-man chef. It has only a few tables and is a bit crammed. But as a local family-run restaurant, all this is acceptable.
PD cooks everything from scratch. He bakes his own bread and makes his own pizza dough. He is a talented cook.
We had turkey minestrone soup which was full bodied and very delicious. I had a second bowl. The fettuccini florentine was creamy with chopped spinach. The toasted bread was fresh and fluffy. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the food. And the waitress was very solicitous and friendly.
I wished PD luck and was sure he will make this restaurant a success. read more
