The sauce - I am a bbq sauce maker and connoisseur. So the Brush Fire is the bomb, it's their original sauce- it's not as spicy as it sounds but has a kick and is vinegar based. It's thick and sticks to the protein. The Swine Wine I tried it's a basic BBQ Sauce vinaigrette and it's good too. So the food I ordered. Let's start with the pulled Chicken-dry, tasteless and they forgot the pull part because I received a whole chicken breast with a few pieces ripped off to cover up the fact that I was given the last piece of crap for the day and no time or attention to detail was given. Pulled chicken NEEDS dark meat! I drove all the way there because I wanted to order fried okra and it needed to stay crispy. Well it was greasy, no breading and one piece was dry and bitter ... THE WORST OKRA EVER!!! I have photos to back me up. The dining room was filthy as well, that turned me off and I nearly walked out. Mac and cheese was ok. Very oily and charred nothing to brag about. I'd like to believe it's homemade but it taste like most of the other BBQ restaurants here. Texas toast is an option, but not free. It's thick and dry. If it's warm, taste good. Good for a sandwich. Vegetarians/Vegans- any special diets, not much for you here. The greens and green beans are filled with pork. Coleslaw has mayo and not many people like it, basically, you can get bread and a simple salad.... You know like the rest of Huntsville I'm unsure if I'd get treated any better or had a better o stall experience if I ever go back. If so I'll update. Perhaps they had an off day but it was way too off to spend that kind of money. Don't know if I'll go back

We loved the Brisket and all the sides! Burnt Ends and chicken were good, but not as good as the brisket (in my opinion). Was going to give it 4 stars, but the hospitality from the owner and the team bumps this place up to a 5! Started as a small family business +20 years ago, passed down to the son and now he's running it just like dad did back in the day. The owner was super cool, gave us great recommendations and checked in on us after our meal. Cant wait to go back!

Sweetness was overly evident on their French fries, in their baked beans, and not as pronounced, but undesired and a negative flavor in both their brisket and their smoked turkey in terms ob my BBQ flavor likes and as a former KCB certified judge. If I hadn't seen that, I'd never have known that a BBQ even existed there. That smoker was what brought us in. As we read the menu, we were told that only some things were available right now. The brisket I wanted to order wouldn't be ready for another hour. Macaroni and cheese? This afternoon. I settled on a pulled pork plate with baked beans and broccoli salad. Hands down the best broccoli salad I've ever had. No onions. Perfect. The baked beans were right up there in the top 10, maybe top 5 of all time. The pulled pork? Ehh. Not the best. A little dry. The plate was served in to-go box, a very full to-go box - the amount of food served was astounding. I planned on bringing home extras to serve to the family for lunch the next day. By now the brisket was ready. I also ordered a large baked beans, green beans, banana pudding and a pound of chopped chicken to go. The mac and cheese still wasn't done. The meat had great flavor but all of it was a little dry. All of the sides absolutely rocked. I will definitely be back but I'm going to call first - I want my mac and cheese please. Ps: wish sweet Maddie well as she starts A&M in the fall!!!

I'm not entirely sure if the taste and texture of Cajun Sausage is supposed to taste like Slim Jim's. It isn't spicy enough to be considered a Cajun sausage and extremely dry for it to be a smoked sausage. The brisket is okay, it can definitely use some work in terms of the taste and texture as it came out slightly dry and very bland where you can only taste the fattiness of the brisket fat. I didn't expect just two plain white slices of bread (not toast as it says in the menu). Potato Salad is okay, it's not bad, just wish it had more flavor off the bat instead of having us pour small pepper packets onto it to get a good flavor. Ambience of the restaurant was good, wish it was more clean at the front.

This! Place! Needs! More! Hype!…read more Okay, back to typing normally. Kar's Char is a relatively new Texas-style bbq place inside of Lowe Mill. It occupies the full restaurant space that used to belong to The Veggie and belonged to Happy Tummy before that. It's to the left of Piper and Leaf as you face P&L from the parking lot. I only belabor this point because some folks do have a hard time navigating Lowe Mill and no one should miss out on giving this place a try because they can't find it. I saw a few posts about Kar's Char when they first opened and have had them bookmarked since then. Recently, I was in the area after work around 2 PM and looking to kill some time before a doctor's appointment. I was feeling hungry and figured why not give them a go and enjoy a little time at the Mill while I waited. I arrived and took a few minutes to look at the menu. I am, admittedly, freakishly obnoxious and snobby about barbeque and was determined to have a positive experience, so I decided not to play with fire that day and instead decided to order one of their burgers, which I'd seen a few people rave about online. I selected their hatch green chili cheeseburger and placed an order for that. It comes with one side and I decided on macaroni and cheese. They have bottled drinks available next to the register and so I grabbed a water out of the cooler to round things out. My burger was cooked fresh just for me so I had a few minutes to hang around and take in the fun, nerdy, classic Lowe Mill ambiance. This is a truly local business and they seem very dedicated to supporting and uplifting their fellow businesses in and around the Mill. The service I received was incredibly kind and welcoming -- they really do seem like lovely folks here. My burger came out piping hot and cooked perfectly, with slightly crispy, charred edges and a juicy center. It was a delicious burger, slightly spicy but nothing scary, and I especially loved the chili lime aioli -- added a nice creaminess and moisture. To my pleasant surprise, the soft, lightly toasted bun held up to all the goodness pretty well! Next time I will probably ask for no pickles -- I found their flavor a little overwhelming -- but I am also hot and cold on my feelings about pickles so your mileage may vary! I say keep them on if you're a big fan, and take them off if not. :) The macaroni and cheese was enjoyable but not as good as the burger. Next time I come I will probably try out a different side. Overall, 4.5/5, with extra high marks for the hatch green chili burger and the charming, welcoming staff/owners. I'll be back to try the actual barbeque, and certainly to have another burger!

Saturday morning, quiet, some blues music in the background. Good ambiance. Food came quickly; biscuits and gravy and their cheesey hash browns. Decent food, hard to screw up biscuits and gravy. My only criticism woukd be, one biscuit was a little hard to cut with a fork. Flipped it over, not burnt. Probably cooked a bit long. Had I a knife, no problem. The hasbrowns, again, hard to screw up. But the salt packets I got I think were wet at one time as I got clumps of salt instead of the individual salt, if that made sense. All in all, a pretty nice way to start a Saturday. I will be back to try their bbq.
