This restaurant is way off the touristy area, and most guests are local people, so that's a good…read moresign. The menu is rather limited though, with 6 meat dishes and 2 fish ones for main entrees, and not much appetizer choices to speak of. A bit disppointed as some of the dishes we've already tried in the previous few days and would have preferred something new and different. I ordered the Alentejo pork and clam, as it's one of my fave and I look forward to trying it right in Alentejo. The preparation here is quite different from most others. Instead of cubed pork and potatoes, they use large chunks of pork with french fries. Meanwile, the clams are tiny in size with many empty shells. Their preparation doesn't allow for the ingredients to cook together for the synergy of flavors. The dinner my husband ordered was the fried pork with migas - bread crumbs with asparagus. It uses identical chunks of pork. Migas is vry traditional dish of the area, looks a little like mashed potato, and I suppose in the old days a great way to upcycle old bread into a delicious side. The version here has lots of garlic - whole cloves of them - in it so I did enjoy it a lot, just wih it weren't so filling. Overall flavor is not bad, glass of wine is 2.50 Euro.

Amazing, traditional food and fantastic service. I cannot recommend this place enough. We had the…read morelamb stew, the pork with clams and the fried pork. Everything was fresh and delicious. The vinho verde was the coldest white wine I've had all week. Wonderful, gracious people.

We also ordered olives, bread and butter and shrimps in garlic butter. The olives weren't that great. The shrimps were very good we dipped the bread in the garlic butter. The pork was very tender and braised rather than fried. The clams were small and most of them had fallen out of the shell. The sauce was delicious. They said it's a typical Portuguese dish; I'd highly recommend this dish. The server was very knowledgeable about the wine and asked if you wanted red or white AND sweet or dry. So they were able to give us a wine that catered to our taste. It's located down a small alley I think it's quite popular at dinner and you probably need reservations but lunch we had no problems. As with all Portuguese restaurants they charge for bread, butter, olives; if u see them on the table be sure to say you don't want them; you'll be charged if you eat them. Also be sure to ask for your bill after you get your entrees or ask for the desert menu as they'll disappear for awhile as they feel it's rude to interfere with your meal. My kinda place, off beaten path, hidden gem.

Loved the food and the amazing service. The prices were very reasonable too! Thanks, Carolina, for…read moreyour attentive service.
