Relative to Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. the metal is MUCH less expensive, and generally of higher quality - by which I mean the walls are thicker, the lengths are longer, etc. The selection is based on what comes in, so buy all you need for the project up front or it may go out of stock. Sahds also has lots of interesting home salvage items like vintage milk cans, radiators, fire grates, decorative filigree's, etc.

I just drove through the lot until i saw what I was looking, all organized into piles. And the staff was amazing. Super helpful and professional. You can tell that they genuinely enjoy working there. Which says a lot about the way the business is ran. The guys working the lot were very knowledgeable and took time to answer my questions. I had also reached out on Facebook with some questions and they responded almost immediately sending pictures, videos, pricing, etc. And from a woman's perspective I can say it was refreshing. I wasn't treated like I didn't know what I was doing, which more often than not is what happens when I walk in to other places like this. I just can't say enough about the staff. Sahds is so uniquely different than any other scrap yard/metal recycling place I've ever been to. You head in the main gate, show them your drivers license and your truck is weighed, they give you a slip, then you drive to the appropriate area and throw off your scrap metal. Light iron is 0.09 cents / LB. Copper is about 3.00 per LB. When you're finished they re-way you and get paid in cash, cant complain! Saturday hours are nice as well.
