Contacted Jason through Yelp and was looking to get an estimate for the work required. After his initial response, I supplied more details and awaited a bid. No response for several weeks. Follow-up email elicited a reply with a promise that an estimate would be forthcoming. A week later I received his estimate. I responded to his estimate that the numbers looked good (!) but I had a couple of questions. No response to the email. After two weeks and still no response, I moved on to another contractor for the windows. I am aware that for some one-man businesses it can be very challenging to maintain client contact, especially during the busy seasons--but potential customers are only going to wait so long before moving on if they are getting a lack of response to queries and need the work done.

We set up a day for him to come look over my home and list of things that I needed installed and fixed. Randy gave me a super reasonable rate per hour and we set up far for him to return and work. The day of the job (I was late) he was ready to start and quick to finish the first project. I had a list of about a dozen things. Everything from installing a range hood, rewiring switches, fixing vent fans, doors, windows, toilets..... The list goes on. He finished everything and the sun was still shining. He even noticed that I was missing a few rails on my porch, found them, and secured them back in place. It wasn't my list but he did it anyway. Nice. I have to say that Randy is honest, hard working and very thorough. He works very clean and is very knowledgeable about almost every part of a home. Even mobile homes. I will not hesitate to call him if I need any handyman service in the future. You shouldn't either. If you've got something that needs a handyman's attention, he's the guy! This is my first yelp review. I may sound a little overly enthusiastic but to be very honest I'm glad we found him. Thanks Randy!

I received a call back within in a few hours and Sabas made an appointment with me at my convenience. Sabas was on time, curtious, and really listened to what I wanted. I had been wanting to add on to my bedroom and had met with other contractors but the quotes I recevied were way out of my budget. I mentioned to Sabas I wanted to add on to my bedroom and asked him what he thought it would cost. He gave me a verbal estimate and it was so reasonable so I asked him to give me a written estimate for the shower, floors, and the addition. When I received the written estimate it was very detailed of what was included and in the same price range he verbally provided. I made the decision to move forward and he connected me with a archetect/designer to draw my plans for the addition. The process with both the designer and Cruz Construction was seamless and communication was so easy. As I worked with Sabas and his company over time I added the painting of my cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom, replacing the hardware on the cabinets, replacing a window, and re roofing my home. His employees were kind, hardworking, and reliable. They cleaned up after themselves, were quiet, and did superior work. I have worked with many contractors throughout the years. I have build 2 homes and completely remodeled another. This contractor was far by the best! Due to the amount of work I had done this company worked in my house on and off for almost a year. Sabas was always took my calls and responded to any texts or emails the sameday. He was helpful in picking colors and brought samples to me. Any issues that came up he handled immediately. He has a very calm demeaner, is very patient, and really listens. He has direct employees to do all the work and does not use sub contractors which made the projects go so much smoother and timely. Several of his employees are relatives which was nice as they too were kind, patient, and hardworking. The pride all his employees take in their work really showed. I never worried about leaving my home and them being in it without me present. They were trustworthy, clean, and respectful of my property. I am so happy with the work that was done and how my projects turned out! If you are even thinking of needing a contractor don't hesitate to call Cruz Construction you will not be disappointmented. His prices might be a little higher then some but as the saying goes "You get what you pay for."

Recently had a very significant tile project to do as part of our remodel. Roughly half the…read moreproject entailed laying tile on a concrete slab in mostly good condition. But the other half was on a raised subfloor to replace an old ceramic tile floor; very uneven thinset/hardybacker and lots of cuts around kitchen counters, center island, pantry, etc. And we had some steps, a mosaic pattern in the entry, and some gaps in the concrete floor where walls had once been. The concrete floor would have to be built up in some areas to decrease a step height and to run flush with a glue-down bamboo hardwood floor to follow. And the tiles we chose were large 12x24" porcelain with no beveled edges on a 1/16" gap. So basically, a very large and challenging project. I don't know what it is with most tile companies, but there are so many total flakes that don't return calls. Or the rare professionals that are busy and if they even entertain quoting, their fees are exhorbitant and insist on a pristine subfloor (e.g. replace all hardybacker with new). After cycling through friends' recommendations and Yelp, I found myself dialing contractors whose business cards were posted on the cork board at a local flooring store. That's how I found Candy. An affable, seasoned tile guy said he could do it, get it done in 2 weeks, don't worry about the hardybacker -- he'll fix any uneven stuff, work around the kitchen corners, take the remaining studs out of the concrete floor and fill the gaps, nail the mosaic pattern, grout it, and leave it clean and ready for the hardwood guys to follow. And he could start in a few days, and the price was reasonable. I took the leap of faith. Well, it was a challenging project. Candy, and his sons, and his dad spent a solid 2 weeks getting this floor exactly right. The layout, the edges, the mosaic. They had to lift and redo tiles more than a few times esp on the uneven subfloor. But they were meticulous and methodical. It was fun having them over, 3 generations of Guerrero's working together...fixing the subfloor, spreading thinset, cutting tiles, and Candy and his dad laying them just right. They brought their own tools including the biggest-baddest tile saw I've ever seen. And they worked straight through the second weekend to have it all done before the hardwood flooring contractor. The end result was the most beautiful floor we could have envisioned. Highly, highly recommend.

We first hired him to install porcelain floor tile in our bathroom and thought he did a nice job. So we hired him as a follow-up project to install the floor tiles in the kitchen. During the kitchen job we noticed one of the bathroom tiles had gradually popped or buckled. We've never seen this in any of our tile installations and thought it was a fluke one-off. Since Candy was still around working on the kitchen job, he agreed to replace the popped tile in the bathroom. This was a month ago. The kitchen job has been completed and new cabinets and appliances have been installed on top of the tiles. This morning we noticed one of the kitchen tiles begin to pop up. We don't know what to say. Since this is the second time it has happened, it's possible something might be wrong in his installation procedure (e.g., uneven or not enough adhesive coverage). I've invited Candy to fix the problem but as typical of unlicensed contractors after getting paid, he doesn't return my phone calls.
