Back in August this year I had service from Payless. A month later the sensors are blinking the door is basically non-functional. Definitely NOT what I paid $587 for on Aug 6. I complained on Aug 8, you guessed it, another $157 for something that didn't fix the issues. Now here it is Sep 11 and my garage door is still not working as designed. Recently, my neighbor had called me asking who my Garage Door guy was. I gave her Ivan's name and number. While he was over there, I had been getting ready to leave and mentioned that my key chain opener had stopped working, and when I replaced the battery, it did not change anything. Ivan asked to see it, walked over with his ladder, reset it with the motor (some technical easy push button thingy for him) and it was magically perfect again. He did not charge me. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY. ABSOLUTELY DESPICABLE. The breakdown of these costs as listed on the invoice are as follows: -Two Garage Door Openers: $40.00 - And, we had our own. -Labor Costs: $89.00 $129.00 to PROGRAM TWO GARAGE DOOR REMOTES?!? So I asked him, "You sell garage door openers, and charge $89 dollars to program them?" Yes, they do. When I spoke with the owner about the costs, his responses were: -"So what." -"Are you running my business?" -"We come all the way to Kyle from Austin and need to pay for gas." The technician was here for less than 10 minutes and took great advantage of my brother in law, who didn't know about our deal or anything that was supposed to be going on. Our total cost was $180.00(!) with Angie's List Special for Tune-Up and Maintenance without Repairs. Initially they offered a refund, but retracted stating he spoke with his technician. Apparently, they have charged us for services which are not on our signed invoice. The technician stated he did some sort of wiring, and other services - I really don't know where their business ethics come into place - -This week must have been rough waiting for the welfare check. read more

Gotta make an update because it has been years since I reviewed Payless. I had to have some maintenance done to both of my garage doors and coincidently a flyer came in the mail for 20% off for a tuneup. (as I'm writing this I see the coupon in the Yelp photo choices below me). I called Ivan and his brother Victor came out to tune my doors. They run very quietly now. BTW, my first review had one critique and that was the quality of their website. OH what a difference the new site is. Somebody in the fam is great with web design and marketing. Their branding has been upgraded to reflect the quality of their service. A note to the new web guy or gal from a web guy myself: your font selection and layout is fantastic. The previous homeowner had the garage door installed by this company. We called to check on the warranty and the person on the phone was very rude right off the bat. So odd! I want to add the garage door isn't all that old and shouldn't have had the issue. Their warranty is very short. Other companies have longer ones, look elsewhere. read more

We have a really high garage ceiling and our existing garage door cut off all that storage real estate because it hung about 3 feet below the ceiling. So, we hired Payless Garage Doors to install a higher track, with new tension springs, etc. They did an awesome job! There were obstacles that hadn't occurred to us, like the lock on the front of the door (it's manual so we have to unlock it out front and lift) getting in the way of the door raising...but this was easily solved by the tech. We got the existing lock off and he installed a new one inside the door that is much easier to use and even more secure. Without us asking, he was able to seal off the gap from the old lock in the door. Everything looks perfect and the tech made it SUPER EASY. He was prepared, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. This was a professional job, done efficiently and effectively. Thank you so much! read more

Don't bother!!! 6/2-3/2015 dates in question I found their information on tree, I should've stopped right there, one tech "J" came out to the house to check my garage door opener (they didn't install) it wasn't going up or down just humming. 6/1 The tech "J" made a adjustments the limit switches $99.00 charge me for made 15 minutes of labor and two screws. When we returned home after work it wasn't working again. I called the main number and a representative said someone will be at our home at 7:00 am on 6/2 so I wouldn't have to miss more time from work; at 7:15 I received a from "J" heading into the office now and won't make it. DUH! He said he would be at my house at 5:00 same evening, no call no show by 5:30 I called the main # and the person on the phone stated we don't make promises like that. I got upset and hung up, after calming down back let a message to see if we could come to some type of resolution. Well I never received a call back of course they have my $99 for 15 minutes of service just think twice before you get a phone number off a tree at the YMCA. read more

This is the worst company in Austin i called this company to come and fix a door that i have on a rental property spoke with someone 7 days in advance and told them that i would be at the home at 11:00 , so the day of i got a message and was told that i the tech would be there within 30 min and but i was driving so i was unable to text back but i arrived on time and by the time of the text the tech should have been there as well but time passed i called at 11:05 just to see if everything was okay i was told that by the tech himself that he was 5 min away 1 hour later the guy still had not showed up i called no answer then i called back a lady answered the phone and said that she would call and see what was going on she called right back and said he was having car trouble and was maybe 10 min away 15 min later a man with a woman driving in a kia soul pulled up and he got out and without even opening the garage he said i need to replace the whole door but how could he determine this without checking out the door and when i told hm let me open it so you can see the problem that i was having and for some reason this upset him but he looked and then said im not about to work for free but i am glad he did that because right after he left i called austin's greater garage doors the owner came out the same day and also did a full install the same day thats who you should call dont waist your time or money dealing with this company read more
