Our boat coming down the river. The owner takes pictures from his kayak!

We went on the Canyon trip. It was just so much fun. The guide we had was Joe, he was great, funny, gave us some random information along the route. We will do it again for sure. Highly recommend.

Wow! This has been my favorite experience in Idaho so far. Payette River Company exceeded all expectations. Ginger made the reservation process easy - they are also very easy to get ahold of. Sean took amazing pictures. Joe, our river guide, was incredibly kind, smart, funny and made our ride safe but exciting. Stopping to dip in the hot springs half way through the trip was such an amazing bonus to the ride. I will definitely be back next year.

Wow!! Best time ever!! There is a reason these guys are so highly rated! If you are looking for a fun rafting trip on the Payette River in the Lowman area, you won't go wrong with this company! It is owned by Shaun and Ginger, who couldn't be nicer and any more accommodating to make sure everyone's experience was great! There were 4 in our group and a total of 4 rafts, 4 guides, 26 people and Shaun the owner on a kayak taking pictures and acting as an additional safety monitor . We felt very safe out there . Our guide Rob was excellent , clear instructions and directions and a great sense of humor. We went about 12 miles downstream, stopped for lunch , which the staff prepared and was delicious, and then we continued on our way... When we got back to the base, we were treated to a picture slide show recapturing our adventure- our day couldn't have been any more fun! So get a little out if your comfort zone and enjoy a day on the rapids!

The "canyon" trip was one of the best times we have had as a family. Thank you Sean, Ginger and our stud guide Tyson. We had a blast. Easy drive from Boise and you will definitely not regret this adventure. Just FYI, to earn the "yellow" sticker you have to have to come face to face with the dragon. #fuzzybunnyslayer

    Nothing better than whitewater!

If you are thinking of booking a trip....do it! My husband and I booked a 2 day trip and had a blast. Everything about this experience was top notch. Joe was our guide and did a phenomenal job in guiding, providing everyone with a positive rafting experience, teaching us about the surrounding natural environment and meeting all of our needs. We have spent time guiding rivers in California and I can honestly say this company has the whole rafting experience dialed. A few highlights from our trip.... -hot springs along the river -delicious food prepared from their garden and meat raised from the owner's family -private camp along the river -portaging the waterfall -knowledgeable and friendly staff We can wait to come back and bring the kids! Thank you PRC you made our vacay amazing.

Staff were very conscientious about safety. The lunch was more adventurous than I was expecting--grilled chicken, tzatziki, couscous, and a vegetable salad, with PBJ sandwiches as an option, and ridiculously good, freshly baked chocolate chip or blueberry & lemon cookies. Our guide Joey was knowledgeable and entertaining. During the day we saw lots of wildlife: tons of trout jumping at caddis flies, a mink, deer, merganser ducks, and multiple bald eagles, golden eagles, and ospreys. The river itself is beautiful. A few tips: You can bring additional food or beverages and leave them on the bus, which meets the party at the lunch spot. Several groups rafting with us brought small coolers with their own drinks and snacks. Probably a great idea if you have any food restrictions. It's recommended that you leave any valuables or electronics (or other water-sensitive items) in your car or in a lockbox with the staff. The guides have some limited room in a dry bag for phones or cameras, but it's not the most convenient to be taking a phone out of the drybag and putting it back in. You will not have cell service most of the day anyway, which was actually rather relaxing. Even the town of Stanley doesn't have great cell service in areas, so you may want to set up an "away" or "do not disturb" notice for the day. Sunblock and a hat are helpful; you'll be in the open sun on the water for most of the day. Highly recommend this company for rafting in Stanley.

After reading many reviews we decided to try out Bear Rafting Valley Company. Boy are we glad we did! We had a Blast!!! We had a party of 4. (2 adults and 2 kids). We are elderly and was a bit worried that it might be a bit too much...but the only problem we had is we couldn't stop smiling and laughing. There was a total of 7 on our boat. Our guide was a fun, very knowledgeable about nature, safe and entertaining man named Max. He kept us entertained the whole 3 hours. He even let our Grandkids jump out of the boat and swim. I was nervous when the grandkids did - but he said don't worry-I'll get them in the raft safely. There were several level 2 and 3 rapids that kept it exciting. We will definitely come again! The front staff is also very friendly and accommodating. I loved the fact that the drive was only 50 minutes from Meridian! Who knew this fun place was so close! We will definitely be back!

There were a ton of people in our time schedule, but they managed everyone well. It looks like it's about 6ish adults/raft + the guide. Be prepared to paddle hard depending on who's in your group. They provide life vests and a water jacket - the water is COLD in June. You don't need to worry too much about your glasses falling off, maybe your hat but all our sunnies stayed in place with no problem. We opted for the morning slot (100% would do it again). Benett brought the ENERGY at 9am. He gave everyone a speech about the area and safety tips - including what to do if you fall overboard. No one on our trip fell out unwillingly. They had a few spots for you to jump in and swim. We were lucky enough to get Benett as our guide as well. He let us ride in the front if we were brave enough to! I will be recommending this spot to anyone visiting the area- if there's a way to recommend a guide, I would recommend Benett as well. Thank you for making our trip memorable!

You may also be reading about Rocky Mountain River Tours for the Main Salmon trip, I cannot speak to that, but I know you'll be in good hands there too! Not a river-rat? No problem! But, there is something in you that is drawn to the Middle Fork, as are thousands each year. I am here to tell you that the best crew to do it with is Rocky Mountain River Tours. I would highly recommend RMRT, they're organized, efficient, friendly and experts on the river and off the river with delicious food and comfy camps. I have done other over-night and day rafting trips in Idaho, and I will say that there is something truly magical about the Middle Fork. And, more importantly, there are many magical, fantastic things about Rocky Mountain River Tours. I don't want to give away too much about the Middle Fork itself, but I will tell you all about Rocky Mountain River Tours. First, your trip will begin in the ugly Stanley, Idaho (it's beautiful, but ssshhh, we want it to stay a secret). You will meet Jared, the owner of RMRT, he is one hell of a river-expert and is super organized. He will provide with all of the needed gear, dry bags, wetsuits, tent, etc. He is great at answering all of your questions because trust me, you will have a lot. Jared is also the best because the morning you leave for your trip, he'll let you load the bus 10 minutes before the Stanley Baking Company opens so you have plenty of time to get in line. Trust me, this is a must. Get fuel for your first day on the river! Okay, so you got your belly full of Stanley's finest, you're on the school bus and ready to go to the best classroom in the world, the Middle Fork! Jared will provide you with some of your first lessons of the trip, interpretive tidbits on the way. Forest fire information, plant identification, where to look for elk and wolves, the works. After a long bus ride through the beautiful, I mean ugly and horrible, backwoods of Idaho, you're at the famous, Boundary Creek, the put-in for the Middle Fork of the Salmon. YES! This is a busy place considering you're in the middle of nowhere. Boats, dogs, kayaks, people everywhere. Now, this is important, use the bathroom here! Then make your way to the lead guide for RMRT. Fritz was ours, and he was the best. The guide will give you all the necessary safety information and make sure you have what you need. Then, to the boats! I could on and on about the details, but for the sake of brevity, I will leave you with some important points. 1. Ride with different guides throughout the trip and day. Each guide has a specific set of skills and they all have different backgrounds that brought them to the river. Don't worry, they are all expert whitewater guides and will keep you safe. 2. Get on the paddle boat! It's a fun way to get immersed in the river, but not for a swim...maybe. 3. Hike above camp! 4. RMRT has the BEST food of any trip I've ever been on. Hot carrot cake on the Middle Fork? Yes. And it is best carrot cake you'll ever have, I promise! 5. Ask questions! The guides are all super nice, patient and want to share their information with you. With that said, dig into the library and learn more about where you are! 6. TIP THE GUIDES! These guys and gals work so hard and often live on their tips, so make sure to have some cash or a check with you at the end. 7. Have fun. Take hikes. Write. Take pictures and live it up! RMRT is your group, no need to look any farther. Enjoy the Middle Fork!

At the end of the float, Boise River Raft and Tube has a designated rented raft and equipment pick up spot, for easy dropping off of your equipment. Pro Tip: For those not wanting to ride the bus back to the top and going in a group. Consider parking a vehicle at the bottom, piling into another vehicle, and then driving to the top. After you float down with your group, hop in the car at the bottom and pick up the vehicle at the top. Though the bus ride back to the top isn't anything to be feared and is a great option.
