Not knowing what it was I thought it might be the tires. Finally, late in the day I got off 95 in South Carolina. I searched for a tire store to no avail. As I was navigating the streets to get back to 95 I stumbled upon Ervin's Tire Company. The family owned business could not do enough for me. They diagnosed broken belts on 2 tires and I left there with the only 3 tires they had in my size but a very happy traveler. A very honest, friendly and efficient business. Recommend their service to locals and travelers. Thumbs up!

I didn't want to buy any of their fresh meat as it was possible that it might spoil before it made it home. Instead, I got to enjoy the historical marker here and continue onwards. The front of the sign reads, "Burrows's Service Station. This significant cultural and architectural example of a 20th-century country store was built in 1937 by Theron Burrows (1910-1973) when U.S. Hwy. 521 was finished from Georgetown to Manning. A combination grocery and gas station with family living quarters on the second floor, it was affiliated with Esso (now Exxon) and had the motto "we serve the needs of the neighborhood."" And on the reverse, "Cooper's Country Store. Burrows's Service Station sold not only staple goods, fresh meat, and produce, but also clothing, farm supplies, hardware, feed and seed, and automotive products and parts. After Burrows died in 1973 his son-in-law George Cooper bought the business, renaming it "Cooper's Country Store;" it now boasts several second- and third-generation employees and customers." This is marker number 45-13 and it was erected in 2001 by the Williamsburg Historical Society. [Review 1887 of 2024 - 1138 in South Carolina - 22909 overall]

I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. Upon entering, you are in the store section, but to the right is the restaurant side. I seated myself in a booth and then the menus were brought over. There was no wait, although some of the other booths and tables were filled. I had the fried whiting sandwich which came on white bread with lettuce (I asked for no tomato). I got a corn dog as well and I also tried the fried flounder sandwich which came with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. The corn dog was perfect! As if it came straight from the county fair. Both fried fish sandwiches tasted very fresh as well. I'd definitely come here again to try more of the food options. The menu was fairly large and I think a burger would definitely be a good choice for a second visit. If you're in the area and looking for a quick and satisfying lunch, this is a good spot!
