Hounds Town Newport News - Happy pups we do it for the dogs

Hounds Town Newport News

I am originally from Long Island, NY and the proud owner of several dogs. I was very fortunate to…read morehave discovered the doggie daycare / boarding facility " Hounds Town" Now, that I had retired and re located to Chesapeake, VA we quickly realized that if we were to go on long trips, we would need to find a place for our dogs to stay. We are so grateful to have discovered that a new Hounds Town located in Newport News, VA. It's just short of an hours drive for us but we wouldn't trust just anyone to care for our furry children. All of the dogs staying at Hounds Town are generally separated by size and are in large open pens where they socialize and play. They have smaller private rooms for feeding and for overnight stays. My oldest dog is 12 years old and has started showing the early stages of arthritis. The owner of Hounds Town of Newport News, Dave, was so compassionate and had a nice sized throw rug placed in his room to assist my dog in getting up after laying down. My dogs love coming here to play with the other dogs. The groomers here clipped their nails and washed and dried them before when arrived to pick them up. It's a common for pets that do stay here often sleep at home restfully , what has become known as " The Hounds Town Coma". The staff here go above and beyond to make sure that your pet is well taken cared for be it for daycare or several overnight stays.

He loves the staff and is always excites when we tell him it's a school day. Dave and his staff are always doing fun things for the pups and kitties in their care. And they give us feedback on behavior, positive as well as constructive criticism. When we've told them what we're working with Oliver on behavior-wise, they have been supportive and have reinforced our efforts. I can't speak highly enough of Hounds Town Newport News. We feel secure knowing Oliver is safe and happy when he's with them.

My absolute favorite doggy daycare. Make sure you take advantage of a referral. Let them know I…read moresent you ! If I could give more than 5 stars, I'd break Yelp's rating scale. This doggy daycare is the ultimate luxury retreat for pups--think canine country club with heart. From the moment I (Lexi the Bougie BT) strut through the doors, I'm treated like the royalty I am. The entire staff is amazing--genuinely loving, attentive, and totally in tune with every dog's personality. But the real stars of the show? Anthony and Michael, the owners, are top-tier, hands-on, always-on-site superheroes. They're there every single day--greeting us with love, making sure every detail is flawless, and creating an environment that feels like home... but better. But don't you worry, they even have cameras so that you can watch from home? And oh baby, the perks of this place: * Pool Days (yes, I splash with my squad) * Treat Parties * Photoshoots (hello, content!) * Outdoor Activities * My Boston Terrier crew--yes, I roll with a whole Boston gang! But that's not all... this place has a full-on doggy spa. * Nail trims * Ear cleanings * Teeth brushing * Luxurious baths and blowouts It's giving "spa day meets play day" and I'm absolutely here for it. And if you're traveling? No problem--they offer overnight accommodations so your pup can stay safe, comfy, and loved while you're away. No crates, no worries--just snuggles and structure. This isn't just doggy daycare--it's a lifestyle. A wellness center. A social club. A pampering palace. I go every day and I genuinely LOVE it. If you're looking for a place that will care for your pup like family, keep them active, clean, stylish, and social--this is it. They have a great app that makes booking super simple. The administrative process is so detail oriented and the camera system is a dream so you can periodically check in on your pets. They Go above and beyond keeping everything clean and sanitized and if a pet has an accident, they immediately clean it up. The prices are very reasonable and hours of operation super convenient. They even emailed us a summary with how they were doing and sent us cute pictures of them playing during an enrichment activity! Would give them 10 stars if I could :)

Armistead Avenue Veterinary Hospital - Rest In Peace my Sweet Angel

That's exactly what happened to me when my cat had an upset stomach and his regular clinic was closed for the day. I was at a loss until I remembered the Armistead Avenue Veterinary Hospital, which was always bustling with activity. Although I was aware that I would have to wait due to their walk-in policy, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the clinic was still following COVID protocols. Thoughtful yet slightly inconvenient, the wait was worth it as the doctor was incredibly knowledgeable and put my mind at ease. The clinic was crowded, which isn't surprising given their popularity, but I was delighted to see that they were able to accommodate my furry friend in his time of need. After a wait of over two hours, I was given some suggestions and my mans didn't require any medication. If you're ever in need of a reliable veterinary clinic, look no further than Armistead Avenue Veterinary Hospital. You can find them at 531 N Armistead Ave in Hampton, VA, or give them a call at (757) 723-8571. Trust me, your furry friends will thank you for it!

I am deeply disappointed with my recent experience at Armistead Animal Hospital after being a loyal…read moreclient for many years and entrusting them with the care of two of my pets. I made it clear that, given my dog's age and condition, my goal was to keep her comfortable until the end. Despite communicating those wishes, I felt pressured into additional X-rays and medications that resulted in a bill of over $600. Just two days later, my sweet dog had to be euthanized. When I called the office to schedule euthanasia, no accommodations or compassion were offered. I was simply told I could bring her in on Monday, meaning my suffering dog would have had to endure the entire weekend. The receptionist showed very little sympathy during one of the most difficult moments a pet owner can face. During my final visit, I witnessed the receptionist warmly tell another pet owner to "call us tomorrow with an update." As I was leaving with my gravely ill dog, I was casually told, "Hope your baby feels better." Given my dog's condition, those words felt dismissive and lacking genuine compassion. What hurt the most was feeling that empathy and concern were not extended equally to every client. Compassion should be shown to all pet owners, especially during end-of-life situations. After years of bringing my pets to this practice, I can no longer recommend Armistead Animal Hospital. They have lost my business, and I would travel elsewhere for veterinary care rather than return.
