Our first 2 animals from pawsitive match were amazing. The issue is the third one. The foster home she was in had absolutely no idea what they were doing. This puppy was a rescue who's mother passed when she was young. And from how things have been going, she was no where near ready for adoption and I would say the foster parent simply wanted to off load the puppy. At near 10 months old, we are looking at possibly returning her to pawsitive match as training is having no effect whatsoever. I will absolutely not get another animal from pawsitive match read more

I totally agree about what some have written here about giving dogs time to adjust, to earn your trust, to feel safe with you, give them a chance to know you and your family. They know that they have been rescued- given a second chance from being killed, they know that and are thankful with all their hearts, but they need time to get over all the hurts, disappointment, pain, hunger, loneliness that they experienced before you came along to give him the chance to be loved and cared for, to be his friend and family. Dog moms, dog dads, dog siblings-please show these animals that you will give them the time, the kindness, the patience, your devotion, love and care they so crave, wish and long to receive. Please be patient with them as they come to realize that you are trustworthy, forgiving, nurturing, loyal, faithful, loving, concern for their safety, happiness, health and well being. That you'll really be a dog's best friend. They so deserve as a living, feeling creature. Please Give them the hope they've yearned while being out there as stray animals, fending for themselves to get a morsels of food just to survive for another day. Before you adopt them, please be sure that with all of your heart, that you will not abandon them when you have a new partner, new baby, new job, new home, less money, move to a new city, etc. Dogs can't speak for themselves, they can't beg you to not abandon them, they can't make promises to eat less, make less mess, love you more than they already do so you'd keep them because they already love you more than they love themselves. Having a dog is a lifelong commitment, the spouse, or partner you breakup or divorce will survive a broken heart, dogs rarely do. Having a dog takes a lot of time and money, they can't surf the web, watch TV, read a book, liste to podcasts or go out to bars to socialize like us...they only have, we are his only companion, caretaker, friend. They will make mistakes like us, please forgive them, praise them when they do good to reinforce the good. Read books from Patricia McConnell so you can understand what your dog is communicating to yo using their body language, after all, communication really is a two-way street. My Chancey has loved me unconditionally for 13 years now. I'm honoured and feel privileged. To each other, we have found what mutual respect really means. Chancey chose me to be his guardian, his dog mom, and I hope and pray that I'm proving worthy of his forgiveness, patience, kindness, all the love, the devotion and faithfulness his shown me, and all the joys he's showered all his life. He's there for me when things aren't so great for me-and I will be there for him as his gets difficult when he ages more, until the end of his life. I pray that you'll find your match and that you'll treasure your dog, more than anything else in this world. Give him a chance, forgive and forget like he will for you. My roomate and I both decided to adopt kittens this year to have some furry friends while we study, I fell in love with a kitten at pawsitive match and my roomate found one at the Meow foundation, we had drastically different experiences. The process of adoption was pretty straight forward with an application and then a phone interview. My phone interview did not contain any information about my prospective kitten's medical history, so I asked for a copy, they informed me that this would be provided after the adoption and there were no preexisting conditions. After hearing this I decided to go ahead with the adoption. Intially the process was very smooth and I was provided with lots of assistance and resources. As soon as I adopted my cat, Max I noticed that he had a deciduous tooth and it was persistent within the gums and appeared black in colour. I waited for the medical records to come in to see if this was pre-existing. When I was finally sent the medical records it was after the 72 hour period where I could be financially assisted with treatment. It was at this point that I noticed that the deciduous tooth was pre-existing and pawsitive match was aware of it. I decided to email them and provide feedback about how I was disappointed that I was not informed of the tooth and it's colour, as it was already that colour prior to my adoption of him. I was just looking for an apology or an acknowledgement that they should have disclosed the condition prior to my adoption, however I did not get this. Instead after a couple days I recieved multiple emails from different people at the foundation telling me that it woudl be impractical for them to remove all deciduous teeth from kittens and that the medical records were indeed reviewed with me (they were not) the only option they gave me was to return the cat. I was not interested in returning my kitten I just wanted to maybe meet with the vet to discuss the tooth and instead they lectured me on how there was nothing they could do... I think it is extremely important to rescue animals and am not discouraging you from doing so, however my roomate's experience with the Meow Foundation was much more transparent and helpful. read more

I will not ever use this business for any pet related adoptions. I was at another rescue looking at pups while I over heard a phone conversation between the rescue I was at and this rescue. This rescue had a dog that they struggled to rehome due to anxiety issues so it was scheduled to be put down. The rescue I was at was pleading with them to give them the dog. They felt they could find the poor dog a forever home qualified to take care of high anxiety dogs and if not, they were willing and able to take care of it and give it the best possible life until it's natural time to go. They told Pawsitive Match, they would take on all liability and that they would be liability free. This company continued to tell the rescue I was visiting that they will not give them the dog and take it off the put down list. This company is obviously all about the money and if they can't get the money for a dog then no one can. So apparently, from my understanding, anxiety is a good enough reason to be put down. I guess I should let me husband know his life isn't worth it. read more

My experience with Pawsitive is complete opposite of the reviewer's below mine, which is quite a good thing I'd say. I started fostering with Pawsitive Match about 6 months ago. I had told them that due to the size of my house, I could only foster smaller dogs. They were kind enough to send me emails just to myself when they had a smaller dog come in and would ask me if I was able to take him or her in. Eventually, I took in a sweet little dog named Duke. I fell in love with Duke and my family and I decided to adopt him! The adoption process was super easy and we couldn't be happier with him. This one time we had agreed to taking in a little puppy in hopes that he and Duke would get along well and that they could become friends. After 2 days of having him, we knew that wasn't going to happen. Duke did not like this dog at all, and the dog needed more attention that I was able to give him. He needed to be constantly watched 24/7 but due to work, I could not look after him that much. I told my Pawsitive Match foster guide that I could not have this dog in my house unfortunately, and she looked after it right away. Within a few hours she had resolved the issue. As horrible as I felt for having to give this dog away to someone else, I knew it was for the best and I was so thankful for Pawsitive for being so helpful and quick with everything. read more

I have a dog adopted from pawsitive match.. and after reading the below review, I felt I had to write one too. We had an awesome experience with pawsitive match. They helped us find the right dog, gave me contact info of the volunteers in La Paz, who were caring for our dog, Dexter, so we could get pictures and news of our soon to be family member. They had everyting set up for us, as we could bot pick him up at the airport. They were very informative and have followed up many times to see how we are doing. I must comment to anyone thinking of "steering clear" .. please dont, as all dogs deserve a second chance. I would also like to point out that many months of work with a dog, prepping them for a home, can be undone in a day by a person or persons who do not know how to deal with a rescue dog. Your pet is a reflection of yourself. Save a life, rescue a mutt. read more

I am a current foster with Pawsitive Match. We have also adopted from them and so have my parents. I can't say enough about the amazing work of this group. Keeping in mind that it is run entirely by volunteers and all money raised goes directly to helping save animals, not paying salaries. I saw the review from 2011 that was quite negative and it appears that while PMRF may have been slow to respond back....again remembering that these are not paid staff members but people donating their time, I think it's a bit of a harsh, blame someone else kind of review. If you know a dog has bitten several adults, why let it get that close to your 3 yr old that the dog bites the child. I realize they may have been new to caring for a dog, but you also need to use common sense. The child wouldn't get bitten if you had kept a dog they saw to be "aggressive" and "traumatized" away until the situation was dealt with. This woman also describes that the dog was standoff-ish when they met it and so was probably not the right dog for them as a family. In my experience, when you know, you know and you should have some kind of connection with the dog prior to agreeing to adopt it. Taking what is written on a profile over what is seen in person when you meet the dog is not a great way to choose a dog. In my experience some dogs just do better in certain types of homes. We've had dogs that we fostered who go overwhelmed and had to be moved and we've had other dogs that thrived with us. This family should have been prepared to allow the dog time to adjust especially if it's normally timid. We've never had a problem getting behavioural, medical, adoption, or foster-specific supports through PMRF. I'm sorry that one family had a poor experience but it also sounds like they chose a dog that didn't really fit them. That doesn't mean the dog isn't adoptable or the information is correct. It's just very important to pick the right animal for your family as well as carefully introducing your puppy to their new home. We are very happy with Pawsitive Match in every aspect of care and will continue to be a foster family as long as we can. read more

I was a volunteer for this organization 5 years ago...fostering dogs while they waited for new owners. I was always shocked at the quality of dogs that ended up in rescue. It was hard for me to let them go each time. Yes, some are works in progress, but many came from families that came upon hard times. In all of the dogs, I felt you could see in their eyes a glimmer of hope that they'd gotten lucky finally by being cared for by such kind humans. I find it very unfair for the reviewer below to make the comments that could potentially impact the future for many wonderful dogs waiting for that special person. This agency is staffed by volunteers - most with full time jobs- who are so dedicated and have the singular goal of helping these animals find loving families. Yes, because of this, there is at times disorganization or a lack of 'service' that you might receive at a city shelter. As it often is, when things go well, people may not take the time to comment. I had so many happy ending stories with the dogs I fostered...people who would continue to contact me well after they'd pick up their dog with tales of joy. I would recommend that if you are looking for a dog, you look at Pawsitive Match. One of the wonderful options is to 'Foster to Own' which allows you to see if you have a connection with fido. read more

Firstly I already wrote a review that was positive and for some reason YELP never put it on. Seems weird. I have nothing but great things to say about Pawsitive match! Our dog Cedar is 6 years old now and he has been the best dog ever. We have had 3 other friends adopt from Pawsitive match. All of our experiences have been awesome! So that's 4 positive experiences. Some people think these rescue organizations are like pet stores - they are not. Lots of the animals do have small quirks, for example our dog Cedar was very anxious without my wife for the first year - you can work through it and honestly all the friends I have with "purchased", bred dogs, have more mental and physical health issues on average. I will be adopting another dog from Pawsitive match in the future - I wouldn't do it any other way. My experience with Pawsitive match could not have been better from start to finish. I filled out the application online asking about 2 different dogs my current furry buddy JJ and another named Yoda. They got back to me a day asking if I had ever worked with dogs with reaction issues but as I had not they said they believed that JJ would be a perfect fit for me. After that I was put in contact with JJ's foster caregiver and arranged to go meet him in person, I spent almost 2 hours with the Foster mom and JJ. Needless to say I fell in love with him, I wanted to take him home right away but the foster mom said she always recommended to people to go home and sleep on it. So I did but still knew I had to have him I email Pawsitive match and they had everything arrange to have JJ dropped off to his new furever home. The whole process took maybe about 2 weeks or less but Pawsitive match was there to answer any of my questions and provided as much information and records as they had on him since he was from San Diego. If you are looking to adopt I would highly recommend Pawsitive Match they were amazing and help me find the perfect dog for me I could not be happier! read more

You know, I didn't want to write a review for Pawsitive Match because I think it's important to rescue animals and give them another chance. But, there are a lot of agencies out there and after my experience, I would recommend steering clear of this one. A few weeks ago, my husband and I adopted a beautiful dog through this agency. The 4 year old dog was described as "great with kids" and "gentle with humans". We met him briefly and he seemed shy but we assumed that this was his sweet, quiet nature the agency told us about. We brought him home on a Saturday. Over the course of the next four days, he had bitten my father (breaking skin), my sister-in-law, and snapped at my husband and I numerous times. He had a flat personality and was clearly traumatized, displaying fear aggression. (As it happens, he was with his owner in Cancun when the owner "met a bad end"). My husband emailed the agency on Monday morning to tell them what had been going on and ask them to find a new home without children since he was displaying aggression and we were concerned for our son's safety. 24 hours later with no word, we re-emailed after being snapped at again, stating that we were surprised at the lack of response given the serious nature of the problem. We received response: "sorry, I dropped the ball on this one, I'm on the case". By the evening, we still had not heard from the agency. Then the dog bit my three year old in the face, unprovoked. Latched on. I am thankful that I was standing right there and stopped it. I emailed the agency telling them to call my husband immediately as the dog just attacked a child. Nothing. I called our contact (no answer, no call back), the "emergency line" (answering machine stating they were away until June 6th), and finally got a hold of a volunteer on the payment line (go figure). I said if they did not figure out a way to get the dog out of my house immediately, I would drop him at the City pound. In the meantime, my husband called the volunteer foster mom we had picked the dog up from and she said she'd be up within the hour (she was, she is amazing). The agency then EMAILED us back and said that it was difficult to organize a foster and they were trying to get a hold of the coordinator. If we could figure it out, why couldn't they? Over the course of the next few days, we got the run-around about our refund and finally received it when we basically threatened a more "public forum" regarding their conduct. Now, the reason I chose to write the review is because after being told that there was work to do with this dog, I see he is being shown publicly for adoption and his ad STILL states that he is "great with kids" and "gentle with humans". After watching my three year old get bit in the face by this dog, I am amazed at the lack of common sense, preventative measures, and problem solving that Pawsitive Match displays. The sentiment of their agency is nice and all, but I would recommend the SPCA or agencies with a physical shelter over Pawsitive Match any day. read more

Our experience with Pawsitive Match was less than desirable when we adopted our dog in 2008. We are firm believers in rescuing animals, and both of our dogs are rescues, but I would never adopt through this agency again. Jade was a "courtesy posting" through Pawsitive Match and her bio couldn't say enough wonderful things about her - friendly, house trained, good with other dogs, loves to play ball, etc. The poor thing showed up on my doorstep with heat marks, missing patches of fur, and open wounds from the stress she went through flying from US to Calgary. After having her only a few days it was obvious that she was EVRYTHING BUT what her bio stated - we had essentially a wild animal on my hands. We tried in vain to get a hold of someone from the agency, to find out exactly what the deal was with this dog -nothing. After weeks of trying to hunt someone down, we finally went to the Pet Expo as we had learned the organization was exhibiting at the show. When we presented the president of the organization with our tales of horror, she told us to give the dog back. We were informed that the dog was not screened through the agency, since it was a courtesy posting, and they would not be held responsible but would rehome the dog. We explained that if we, experienced dog owners, could not control this dog, what good was rehoming her going to do? Passing this poor animal from home to home was not the answer. We knew we could not help her alone, and asked for Pawsitive Match's help in working with a specialized trainer. After much more discussion, it was agreed upon that the agency would subsidise the cost of a trainer. We left the expo feeling hopeful that we were finally getting the support Pawsitive Match boasted about prior to our adoption proceedings. Five years later, after several follow-up phone calls, letters and e-mails, we are still waiting to hear back from them. read more

We recently adopted a wonderful little puppy through Pawsitive Match. It was a seamless process. I was very impressed with everyone I dealt with. I first contacted the organization about a different dog than the one we adopted. Within 24 hours of e-mailing them, a lady phoned me about this dog. After speaking briefly about my family (we have 2 young children), she told me that she would not let us adopt her as she had nipped at kids before. I was confident then that they would try to place us with a good fit for our family, not just place a dog with us to get it off of their books, so to speak. We came across another dog, and requested to meet her. I was put into contact with her Foster Mom. She was awesome. She answered all of my questions and then invited my family over to her home to meet the dog. My husband had an allergic reaction at her house. She had a dog of her own, so we were not sure if he was reacting to her dog or the foster dog. I asked her the next day if she could bring her Foster Dog over to our home to see if my husband reacted, and she did it happily. He did not react to her. We decided to adopt the dog. I advised Pawsitive Match about our decision. They answered my medical questions regarding the dog promptly and thoroughly. Their contract stated that they would not pay for vaccinations after the adoption. In our dogs case, she was due for her second set of shots but couldn't get them due to being on medication for a cough. Pawsitive Match told me they would pay for this second set, even though they would be done after the adoption was completed. What a pleasant surprise! We are so happy with our dog. She is a sweet dog and great with the kids. We were very happy with Pawsitive Match as well. They always responded to me promptly and professionally. They have been more than fair in terms of what they included in the adoption price. We have recommended this organization to both friends and family. read more

We have adopted twice with them, and have been delighted both times. We met with several dogs and found the majority of them not suitable. We used careful consideration in our pet choices. I have nothing but praise for their system. The volunteers really do a good job. It is what it is. And it works with common sense from an adoptor. Expecting a perfect pet to be dropped in your lap like the previous negative posts is not suprising, though. So many people aren't willing (lazy) to do the work a dog requires. After fighting a loosing battle with some other similar organizations Pawsitive match was refreshingly helpful and willing to bend a bit (always within reason.) We did eventually adopt a loving and gentle dog into our family. He was everything the description claimed to be and more. When we visited his foster home he was exactly as he has always been, and their was no hidden complications. It occurs to me that the people fostering these animals are the ones in charge of writing their descriptions online and whoever in that family wrote the one for our Demirti was spot on and helpful. read more

I only rank this organization a one because this is the lowest I can go! If you are looking for an organization to simply surrender your "dog" than perhaps pawsitive match is fine. If you are looking for an organization to surrender your "child", which is what I did...I highly encourage you to stay away. Once this organization had my dog in they're possession it became clear they did not care about me, my family, our feelings of having parted ways with a member of our family. I have 4 kids at home who ask about our little girl almost on a daily basis. I have had LIMITED information to provide them. I was ensured I would receive regular updates and photos for the first couple of months. I have received an occasional e-mail with very limited information and a couple of photos. When I do contact them they will respond....days later. In fact, the day my dog left my home I did not hear from them for days. I spent the whole weekend worried and concerned for my little girl and they did nothing to try and comfort me. They ignored me. I posted a similar post on they're Facebook page so others could see what I am going through. They removed it and emailed me and told me to stop communicating with them. Funny how they were so quick to email me regarding this but so slack when it came to my fur baby! read more

At the time of reviewing the Pawsitive Match Rescue Foundation, there are two other reviews. One of which is quite scathing, and the other is positive. I completely understand the perspective of the scathing review - that sounds like it was a negative experience, through-and-through. A sequence of errors on multiple parts, and I am really sorry to hear it went that way for her. I also understand the positive experience, though my experience is not as a foster home. I'm glad they were able to work so swiftly for her experience. My experience is as someone adopting from PMRF, as well as someone who has had experience with them in other capacities. In terms of adoption, they were extremely thorough with everything. They want to make sure the dog they're releasing for adoption is going to a caring home, and that the dog will have the best life it can with the new family. That is something I appreciate quite thoroughly, and through their interview process, it seems as though they are very careful with their selection process. The foster homes with whom the dog was staying was fantastic! Super kind, and clearly very experienced in dealing with dogs. The other way in which I am familiar with the organization is I have friends in Mexico who speak very glowingly of PMRF. The rescue foundation worked closely with these people to help bring dogs from Mexico up to Canada to find homes. From what I understand, all of those dogs did eventually find homes - and that is wonderful. The PMRF doesn't have a closed view - they don't just worry about what's going on around Calgary - and that's something I really appreciate. If you are looking at adopting a dog, I would completely recommend giving the PMRF a bit of your time =) read more

I adopted my dog through Pawsitive Match this past summer and my experience with this dedicated organization was beyond my expectations! I was amazed to see how helpful the volunteers were throughout the adoption process and afterwards. Their responses to my many questions were always helpful, informative and prompt. They were excellent about keeping in contact and making sure the transition into our home was going smoothly. Pawsitive Match is clearly run by caring individuals who are very passionate about their animals. They worked very hard to make sure my dog was the right match for our family and with a little love, time and above all else patience, she flourished in her new environment. Over the past five months I have seen my pup transition from a shy and slightly insecure dog into a playful and confident young lady who enjoys the company her pal, an energetic black lab. I'm so happy that my little gal was rescued by such an amazing group of volunteers who work tirelessly to provide neglected, abused or abandoned animals with a second chance! This is a rescue group that is 100% volunteer based and every cent donated or earned goes straight to the care of the dogs. Overall a lovely group of people to deal with!! read more

I am extreeeemly happy in dealing with Pawsitive Match our dog needed extra love and training but in getting a rescue we were totally willing and able to take that on. I am shocked at the other negative reviews! They kept in constant contact with me throughout the adoption process and this adoption being a neglected Doberman, they made sure I was the right match for such a breed. Our dog has fit well into our home and not only do I recommend getting a dog from them I recommend donating to there organization to keep these rescues going. When adopting any dog do your research, adopt with your head first, heart second and you will be less likely to be disappointed. We adopted Bunny from Pawsitive match Nov 2013. It was a great experience. She came from Mexico and was assessed at Cambrian Vet clinic. We were able visit her before she was released to us as a foster. I knew after she came home she would not be leaving. We felt they were very careful to make sure we had experience with rescue dogs. We had to assure we them that we were ready to accept a dog that may not have had a great start in life. It took bunny 3 days before she would leave the bed we got her. She avoided Adult females but would readily go to males and children A year later you would never know that she had a rough start in life but she still is weary of adult females until she gets to know them. Highly recommended group that only motive is to help animals find good suitable homes. It was a Pawsitive experience for us. read more

For every bad story, there are many more good ones. Please remember these animals are traumitized and require so much patience as they grow secure in their new homes. A bond of trust grows over time. People expect miracles overnight, but it could be a year or more before a rescued animal settles into a positive state in their new family unit. A small active child could certainly be overwhelming for a displaced and unstable animal. As a parent, you are the one responsible to consider this and must supervise interactions accordingly. Even if temperment has been assessed in one environment as "stable", different stimuli may bring out nervousness and insecurities. Obviously, the quick assessment of this animal's temperment, as well as the handling of the situation was inappropriate, but as we all know there is more than one side to every story. It is terrible that your child was bitten, no one would argue that. We adopted our pup from Pawsitive Match and she is every bit of wonderful. She had some emotional issues to overcome in the first months she was with us, but after six months she is growing in confidence and security in her new "Forever Home." She is still nervous and insecure at times, but she is learning to feel safe. Our other dog has been with us two years now and has flowered into a beautiful, calm submissive girl - Hardly recognizable from the terrified, malnourished pup we brought home once upon a time. Several of my friends volunteer for this organization and they all work tirelessly to save the lives of these animals. They do the best they can, but of course resources are limited and people do make mistakes. We as adoptors have to be diligent in our OWN assessment of temperment as well as "fit" within our family. Not every family is a perfect match, but please don't take one bad experience and color the whole organization in a negetive light. These volunteers donate hundreds of hours and sometimes that means things aren't perfect. In the end, it is saving the lives of worthy pets that matters. read more

Although this isn't a major issue it's something that I would like to bring to attention as most other agencies are doing it and it's a huge deterrent and a bit of a downer on potential adoptees. I currently have a lovely dog that we adopted through another agency with no issues at all and are looking to adopt a 2nd to complete our family. A relative suggested Pawsitive as a good way to easily find an excellent match. After filling out an application and waiting the 48 hour period we were informed that the dog was already involved in a previous application process and that they'd keep us informed and also help us with any other dogs. Fine, totally understandable. After waiting a few weeks we discovered another dog that we thought would be an excellent fit. So I went through the application process again and waited to hear back only to be informed that this dog was also in a pending adoption and that we'd "be kept informed." I've repeated this process 5 separate times. The most recent time I've been really on top of badgering them about getting information back on the dog that's already being looked at. It's tougher than pulling teeth. All I ask is that the website have dogs being looked at updated with an "adoption pending" status rather than having all the dogs being listed as currently available. If the adoption falls through, remove the status and open the dog back up for availability. Other sites are doing this and it makes the adopters life a lot easier and less of a discouraging waiting process. I'm starting to get frustrated. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. But 5 is pushing it. read more

Not sure where to start. The program seems like a great idea and seems well organized but are apparently really Horrendous at making a "Pawsitive Match" to the adopters. I decided to adopt a dog and in the application it asks what characteristics you would need in your dog. I had two main things, 1 Is quiet when left alone and 2 gets along with dogs. The first request was met but the second was far from as the dog they gave me has attacked both my sisters and parents dog because it isn't good with dogs. As the issue started i contacted the person I had been dealing with and then all of the sudden that person decides to mention that yeah she had some fights with her own dog but failed to mention that before adopting the pet out! Also the Bio was saying how wonderful she is and gets along with other dogs and has no problems etc etc. So I wanted to help this dog as much as i could and was further encourage that it wasn't anything that a little training can get her through... Couple grand later and she still needs a lot more before I would ever trust leaving her with other dogs to play or bringing her over for family gatherings. Anyways the problem wasn't getting better and when I reached out again as I was at my limits with both time and money to rehabilitate a dog that wasn't a good fit for me in the first place they Then decide to tell us that at the adoptathon they had noticed she was reactive to other dogs... But that only took about 50 times contacting them and to the point of me having to surrender the animal back to them before they told me this. This company treats acts as though the pets are a used car. They clean them up and sell them and when a problem starts happening they deny at first and then second time they say they noticed it but it wasn't anything that was alarming and then the car so to say breaks down and they try to claim that they had always told you it needed the engine replace and everything else. I adopted my dog, Maggie, from Pawsitive Match almost two years ago. At the time I was emailing and checking with a variety of Calgary area agencies trying to find a small dog that matched my requirements. Pawsitive Match was the most prompt with getting back to me, and were able to provide extremely detailed information on every dog I looked into. I eventually decided to meet my future girl and the foster who was caring for her was extremely accommodating regarding my availability. She was friendly and welcoming, and explained a lot about what she had noticed with Maggie's behaviours. We took her home only 4 days after starting the process and paying the fees! She has been an absolutely perfect match for myself and my boyfriend. We couldn't love her more, and I am forever grateful to Pawsitive Match for helping me through this process. They took great care of her while they had her, and gave her a great start. The only I would say is that they told us we would have a vet visit included (or that's how we interpreted it) and what we got was a random volunteer who just scanned her for her microchip number...something that my vet would do for free! read more

I have been volunteering with Pawsitive Match now for 2.5 years. As many people may think this is going to be a biased review but it's not. I want everyone to have their honest opinion, which we are all entitled to. I have fostered 101 dogs with PMRF and everytime I needed a dog moved for whatever reason, they would start working on it right away. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it would take a couple days - but what can we all expect. This rescue is made up of 100% volunteers and foster homes. We do not have a shelter that we can just drop a dog off at whenever we get the request that comes off. The majority of all the volunteers have kids, full time jobs and other commitments on a daily basis yet we are all out making nothing off of saving these dogs, other than knowing they have found themselves a warm bed to sleep in, food in their stomachs and the feeling of love for once in their lives. We give full disclosure on every single dog that we get within the rescue and any information we can on a dog. Often times our dogs come in with ZERO information so it is up to the foster homes to provide any and all information possible. I adopted my dog through Pawsitive Match, and the organization was helpful from start to finish. They thoroughly interviewed me, and made sure that the dog and I were the perfect match. If we weren't, I wasn't going to be able to get him. His foster family took very good care of him, and it was obvious they loved my dog, and Pawsitive Match. It is sad to see that you find a tiny cage in a shelter is a better place for a dog rather than in a foster home. Sadder still that you feel you can judge this rescue foundation based on one experience. This 'agency' as you call it is based entirely on volunteers. None of them receive a penny for their time or expenses for rescuing these forsaken animals. Although you had a bad result and clearly the dog was not a match to your household it is a shame you trash the whole foundation and all of its good work. I have rescued over 40 dogs and found wonderful loving homes for all of them. Too bad they don't get on Yelp and write about it. As with any animal they don't come with a 'guarantee' that they will behave the same in one situation as in another even if they come from the SPCA or a 'physical shelter'. I have had dogs that like some children and not others as well as some adults and not others. These dogs are a truly rescued dog which means they didn't come from pleasant situations - we don't stipulate, for example that because the owner in Cancun met a bad end that that their dog should also suffer the same fate. I also find it rather odd that you praise the foster mom of this dog who is a representative of this foundation and blast the people who didn't respond to your calls. The 'go figure' remark about someone answering the payment line is uncalled for. Any money received never goes to any person involved in the 'agency' but is used for medical and transport expenses to rescue more dogs. I hope you have found a dog that fits in with your family, but you are very mistaken if you feel all rescued dogs in a foster family have the same result that you had. read more
