Brodie the Sheprador and I are attending our second obedience class there tonight. Brodie will be a large dog when fully grown and she needs to be under control. Our class is not taught by Hollie, but one of her coworkers. Hollie held the first class with no dogs, and I have to admit, in the basement like room, Hollie's loud voice bounced off the walls and made my ears ring. She also walked very fast back and forth and was rather dramatic. She told me to leave a "drag line (long leash) on Brodie to improve my control when she chases my cats. She told me to leave it in Brodie even when we weren't home. Brodie got tangled up on the furniture, knocked over a table and when we came home,,she was howling and barking but thank heaven unhurt. I don't think that was very good advice and I won't do it again. The other trainer is a little bit calmer and gives reasons for every lesson. These are very knowledgeable people and I hope to learn a lot from them. If you are expecting a top of the line, modern facility, be forewarned, PNCA is just a big room, a fenced in field and a rather run down looking century home at the street. It is clean, but the driveway and parking lot isn't paved. This training is whatever the individual will make of it. They will give us the tools and what we do with them is up,to us and our dogs.
