Do NOT take your dog here to get groomed (in particular if you have a golden doodle). I asked for a puppy cut and my dog came back completely shaved except for her ears and her tail. The person who brought her out said to me, "Better luck next time?" In addition to the poor cut, when I called, she said, "Sorry, I guess you need to go back to where you took her before." She was completely defensive and had zero intention of even trying to make it right. Very poor customer service. Unbelievable. If you planned on shaving her versus appropriately grooming the dog, you need to indicate that you can't perform the service. Other groomers can perform this cut. I am disappointed in the service I received and the way they handled it. read more

Do NOT leave any animal you love in the care of these people. I took my 7 year old and my 14 week puppy for a "test" overnight. Thank goodness I did, if had been longer I'm afraid they'd have been dead upon my return. They were there for less than 24 hours and being a "test" you would have thought they would have taken extra good care of my pets - NOT THE CASE. My puppy came out with such a badly broken knee that she needs surgery and a pin (at the tune of 3K). The older dog, who is diabetic, had a 320 on his glucose meter when I got him home so would appear he was not given his insulin shot as directed. They both smelled of urine. Several red flags.. #1 - young girl at check in couldn't find my records even though this had been planned well in advance... was more concerned with HER puppy than my dogs and their first night at a kennel. #2 - any kennel that will not let you tour without an appointment - MUST have something to hide...why can't I just see where my dogs will be housed? What are you hiding back there? #3 - my gut..shame on me for trusting these "Christians"...and shame on them for their extremely inadequate care of my dogs. #4 - the web site says - certain play times outside, etc...I never once saw any dogs anywhere except for being brought in and taken out (with broken limbs). I called to ask what possible explanation the owner may have, and she had none...only made excuses and of course, being the good woman she is, refused to even give me a refund of my money on the one night stay - or help with treatment in any way. If you care about your pet...don't trust these people. Oh - she did offer to give me a small break on my next stay....LIKE REALLY??? I'd let you near my dogs again???? SHAME ON YOU IS ALL I CAN SAY. The facility seems nice, and their prices are competitive. Unfortunately it's too good to be true: Their hours and customer service are atrocious. We had to drop our dog off a day early to accommodate their limited lobby hours. No big deal so far. We were told that we could pick her up Saturday at 6pm. We called just before noon Saturday to confirm. They told us they close at noon, and after talking with two employees and the owner they refused to honor the 6pm pick up time we were promised. Now we have no choice but to leave her until their lobby reopens again on Monday. Due to their limited lobby hours and refusal to honor or even acknowledge their word, we are now stuck with a 6-day bill instead of a 3-day one. I will never use these people again. Despite the odd and inconvenient hours, it's the dishonesty I can't deal with. read more

I should have paid more attention and follow my instincts when I walked in Paws Inn lobby. My bichon usually a very playful and friendly puppy was running away from the front desk lady. My bad feeling was confirmed after I picked up my puppy. Very bad hair cut, skin damage and blood from clipping and of course the now famous scarf around her neck to hide the wounds. She is was completely dehydrated drank a lot of water when got home and has diarrhea since I picked her up. These two ladies ( for a lack a better term) have no shame. No way I will take my puppy at this place ever. And neither should you. read more

My wife and I will not bring our dog back here. We left our 8-month-old golden retriever at Paws Inn for 7 days. When we picked him up Debbie casually mentioned that he had just coughed up a piece of green canvas. She described the item and asked if that sounded like one of his toys, which it did not. That afternoon, our dog coughed up two more small pieces of green canvas. We were worried that he may have had more in his stomach, so we induced vomiting. Then, he threw up a piece of green canvas about 9 inches long by 1 inch wide with a knot in the middle - very scary to think what could have happened. Had we not made him throw this up, we wonder whether our dog would have required surgery and if the situation could have become life-threatening. We did not own whatever came out of our puppy's stomach. And prior to seeing these items exit his mouth, we had never seen anything like them. Our assumption was that the unfortunate and extremely dangerous ingestion of these items must have taken place during the 7 days that our dog stayed at the kennel. We took the pieces of canvas to Paws Inn and spoke to Debbie to express our concern. She categorically refused to accept the possibility that our dog may have eaten these items at the kennel; further, she patronizingly suggested that our dog had these items in his stomach when he arrived for his seven-day stay. This is highly unlikely, given that we had not seen the items before and keep a close watch on our puppy. Moreover, it is an unlikely coincidence that he would voluntarily cough up 3 small pieces on the 7th day of his stay if he had them in his stomach when he arrived. Overall, we are obviously very unhappy that our dog likely ate something that was potentially life-threatening during his stay at Paws Inn. We are even more unhappy that the owner was unwilling to accept the probability that it occurred under her and her staff's watch, while on the contrary, suggesting that the fault was ours. We feel that this is a dishonest and poorly run business. We will not return and would discourage pet owners from using their kennel. read more

Like another reviewer, I have boarded my dog a number of times at the Paws Inn, but I live in the DC area. He likes the owner a lot and he has always been well-cared-for there. I'm having him board two more times this summer. I actually come there in person to make a reservation on a Saturday morning and bring my dog, so he can see the place again. I have always had friendly and professional customer service and really appreciate knowing my dog is there when I am away. read more

I love Paws Inn. More importantly, so does my 12 year old Shar-Pei, Zoe. She has been going to Paws Inn for over 5 years. It's like her second home. I take her there every other week when I go out of town for work. Zoe perks up and meets me at the door when it's time to go play with her friends. I pick her up and she is bathed and ready to recoup from all the exercise she got playing with the other guests. She also enjoys spending the day playing outdoors in the big yards they have at Paws Inn. Because of her age, Zoe can be a bit moody. I appreciate that Debbie and her staff recognizes the personality of each pet and knows how to match them up accordingly. I wouldn't think of taking our family pet anywhere else! read more

I've also had them bathed here and loved the conditioning spray and cute little bandana they get! I took my golden doodle to Paws Inn last week for grooming and daycare based on a recommendation from a friend. When I picked her up, I was shocked to see that her hair was basically shaved - but also very uneven in spots. The grooming job performed was awful. I also found that the people there weren't very friendly. Overall, it was a very poor experience and I won't be taking my pet back there. read more

Horrible place! Do not send your dogs here! Completely unreliable and unresponsive! Do not believe the posted lobby hours! If they choose to not answer the door you and your dog are out of luck! But maybe they are doing you a favor! Debbie, we are a customer of yours. The last few times we have had issues dropping off. You wouldn't answer the door to my husband at 11:50 am a couple years ago../lobby hours on Saturday are 12:00! Then this year a gentleman took my reservation by phone (after I left voice message that he had no knowledge of!) a few weeks before New Year's Eve. Told me lobby hours were till 6, drop hunter off anytime before 6. My husband showed up at 3...no answer. Many phone messages left and never returned by you! Another time last spring my daughter and I were so excited to pick hunter up. You saw us waiting by the front door. You chose to ignore us and chat with someone while unloading a trailer..a good 15 minutes! Then acted surprised when I spoke up and asked for our dog! We will never ever drop our dog off with you again! I advise others not to as well. If you treat customers this badly I can't imagine how you treat our furry loved ones when no one is watching! Interesting too how you never give anyone a tour of the facilities! I shudder to think of our precious pets are treated by you! read more

They did not feed my puppy for 2.5 days although I dropped off his food with clear instructions. There were clear instructions on the bag as well. They claimed that because of some confusion, the puppy was offered just the third of the food that we asked them to feed. This was not the first time he stayed there. This call themselves a Christian place but even god wouldn't forgive them for making my puppy go hungry for three days ! read more

We brought our three dogs to Paws Inn for 6 nights of boarding. Additionally I requested that my Golden Retriver be groomed before we returned. We have him groomed regularly at another place. The Golden was not in bad condition at all. He had a few small mats. I pointed out where; behind his ears, one under his collar, and some on the feathers on the back of his hind legs and one very small one in one armpit. We'd had a bad experience with him having been shaved before, the skin getting very irritated and itchy so I made sure to specify NOT to shave him. When we arrived to pick up the dogs (later in the afternoonon on our pickup day which we'd told them in advance and would pay an extra half day) the first two were brought out pretty promptly. We both immediately noticed the Boston Terrier was thinner. We paid the bill which included $58 for grooming ("spa day"). I had to wait several minutes for them to bring out my Golden. He finally came out with a scarf around his neck and reeked of "doggie perfume". Debbie commented that he was "the best Golden she'd ever groomed". Hmm, he's a good boy, but he is not the calmest Golden ever. We left and when we got them all home and actually had a chance to look him over I realized what a horrible "grooming" he'd been given. He was hacked at with clippers which only got part of the not-very-big mats behind both ears, there were random clipper marks in unexpected places, like the front of his front paw, almost as if he'd been just randomly nicked by the clipper. His entire back end and between his hind legs were shaved and had red marks from the clippers. His fur did not feel clean at all. And he had small tufts of undercoat that I was able to pick out of his coat. NOT the look or feel of a dog who has just been groomed. I called and left a message the following day expressing concern over his grooming job but wanted to provide details on an actual call, not an answering machine. Debbie called back and reached my VM later that day (you can never get an actual answer IME,you always have to leave a message and they call back later in the day). In her message, she cheerfully told me he had a "spa day" and all of the services it included. Additionally,despite her previously describing him as "the best Golden ever" in her message she said he was"wiggly" and if she missed anything I could bring him back in. So, unable to speak to her in person, I did finally leave a detailed message of exactly what I saw on my dog following her grooming service. I do not believe Debbie "groomed" or at bathed my dog at all. He was most definitely NOT brushed at all. His fur still showed clumping, which would've disappeared with even a little brushing. I believe it was a forgotten oversight until we arrived and it was then noticed on his paperwork. I think a *very* rush job of clipping some of his mats was done as well as a very, very rough job (and that is being kind) of shaving his hind legs. He was then doused with doggie perfume, had a scarf put on him and brought out to me. I think Debbie should be ashamed of herself for what she did (and charged for) to my dog. I rather expected her to at least attempt to contact me after getting my message, but nothing. She has no professional grooming skills whatsoever and has no business calling herself a groomer and charging people for this service. I am appalled at the amateurish, careless level of work she performed. My poor dog. Given she can not be trusted to perform an honest grooming, I will never entrust my dogs to the care of Paws Inn again. There are other better choices. Two stars is generous, but we got the dogs back alive. read more

My husband and I went to Paws Inn to check out the facilities and the staff. After reading the yelp reviews I wasn't sure if it was the right place for our golden retriever and little lovey cat. We took our dog with us, He was so excited to be there, Debbie was great, very friendly, very aware of different dogs needs. We use Paws Inn for doggy day care and boarding for our beagle. He is always excited to go to daycare and I know he's in good hands with them. You really can't beat the price of daycare either. And I love the earlybird drop off available for no extra charge (for day care at least) so I don't need to worry about being late to work. It sucks that they are closed Wednesdays though. Also my dog vomited some green plastic after spending a day there so I don't think they're watched as closely as other places. We've never had a problem with dog fights or anything like that. I think the staff takes time to learn the dogs and their behaviors and they only place dogs together who get along well. I will definitely continue using them for daycare and boarding. read more

We used Paws Inn for grooming for the first time today. Our dog is a golden retriever mix with the long hair of a golden. She needed a "summer cut." The drop off went well -- we discussed a pick up time (3pm, I was told) and how much I wanted cut off (cut short so she wouldn't need another cut this summer, but not so much she looked bald). I came back at 3pm and was told that my dog wasn't ready. I was irritated. I'd made an extra effort to be there on time and I told them that. They wanted me to come back in an hour and a half but I told them that wouldn't work for me. I will concede at this point that it is very possible that I misunderstood what I was told about the pick up time and I will also concede that I was flustered and stressed out about having to change around my afternoon when I had three children who had to be at practice and was about to be late to pick up one of them from camp. And I am certain that my tone of voice reflected this when I tried to explain why I was upset. One of the girls rolled her eyes and cut me off and said that she would check to see how long it would take. I told her that she was being very rude and that I was trying to explain my position. She then said, "We don't need this." and went into the back. The owner came out, hands on hips, and without asking me any questions asked me why I was yelling at her staff. I immediately apologized. I hadn't intended to raise my voice, I said, but I was very dissatisfied with the situation and I needed to figure out a solution and tried to explain the problem yet again. I also said that I felt her staff had been quite rude to me. She said, "Well, that won't help your case, but go on." At that point, I could see that this was going nowhere. I asked about how much longer she thought it would take. The OWNER told me that she could get back to work if I would quit yammering at her. I asked for them to get my dog and said that I would pay for whatever they had done. They took my payment first ($90)-- they wouldn't bring the dog out until it went through. While they were getting the dog, I once again tried to talk to the girl behind the desk. I said that I couldn't believe this is how they spoke to customers and the girl started screaming at me that I was speaking to them poorly and that she didn't need my business (or my parents' who were supposed to be boarding their dog that weekend). I told her that as a customer it is my right to explain my dissatisfaction and she then shouted that if would just shut my mouth, she could have gotten a world in edgewise. I have not even gotten to how dissatisfied I am with the actual cut. Since they claim they weren't finished, it would not be fair for me to complain about how uneven and inconsistent it is, since I would assume they would have cleaned it up. But I can complain about the fact that they completely shaved my dog all the way down to the skin, when they told me that her hair would be about a half-inch long when done (they told me it would be as long as her leg hair was currently and clearly, right now, her leg hair is quite a bit longer than where they cut). This is not even to mention the scratches all over her, which they claimed were ticks that they removed, or the fact that the price they quoted to my husband was $50-$80, but what they charged me, for an unfinished and botched job, was $90. read more

Paws Inn cares about the dogs for sure. A bit strict on policies around changing reservation dates, charging you if you pick dog up early etc. They let dogs play a lot in play areas at no extra charge which makes it a nice vacation for the pooches. read more

I've been doing business with Debbie for many, many years. Our Boxer mix Bobby loves visiting there where he gets treated so we'll he looks reluctant to go home! We usually have him bathed there and he always returns to us fluffy and sweet smelling. The staff at Paws are always courteous and even remind us when Bobby needs his shots.
