I will NEVER go in this place again! The woman employee should be behind bars with other common criminals and thieves. I referred my best friend to Burt's Pawn Emporium/Norco Loan & Jewelry, wish I hadn't now. She took a diamond her father left her when he died into the store to have it tested and to see the value of the diamond. The woman employee looked at the stone and measured it with some sort of ruler gauge, then turned to the counter away from my friend to grab the magnifying glass to check it out more. She set the stone down away from our view so she could grab the portable hand held heat machine. She put the machine up by her ear, which is odd in itself; we couldn't see the results or hear the beeps that it should have made when it touched the diamond. This testing machine makes a beeping noise if the diamond is real and lights up also. She covered the lights up and must have had the volume either off or very low, My friend looked at her while she had the machine on it and she never said anything, so friend looked right at her and she shook her head side to side. Less than 5 minutes later, this employee is hurrying out the store to her car; she beat us out the door. She had only been at work for 20 minutes and it was only 10:30 am, a little early for lunch. WE question the other employee about this diamond not being the same one we brought in and of course he denies it ever happened. There is no way. He said "It's all on video anyway, and they run 24/7 if there is ever an issue" But he refused to let us see them. Told her to come back after 2 pm when owner was there. We came back only to find out from the owner that "the camera that faces the entire counter on their side must have gotten hot and shut down; they do that when they get hot". We asked to see the footage and he said "You can't. You'll have to come back when the male employee is there". This is the owner of this business telling us he doesn't know how to work his security cameras. Then male employee returns again from lunch break, bag in hand. He is asked to bring up the camera footage from earlier that morning and he does just that. But, the camera view that we need is blank, nothing shows up on monitor, 13 other camera views are good. Then the 14th picture snaps to view, but still missing the #1 camera footage. "It must have gotten hot and shut itself down to protect it from too much heat". Well we both looked at the owner looking kind of stupid and waiting for it to kick it back on, it had been off line supposedly at 10:30 am when they opened and now it was around 3 pm and it still isn't back up yet. That is some security system. This camera records the view we need from behind the counter and down the entire length of where the woman was standing with my diamond. Then the male employee spits out "Oh, that camera is not even in that eye any more, no I took it out". And the owner didn't know about this until now? Not likely. "It wasn't working so we took it down" What happened to the "it shuts itself down when it gets hot story"? Now it is nowhere to be found all of a sudden? I doubt that. They have 16 cameras in this store and the only one that we need to prove that this woman stole Sherry's diamond is either on a mini-vaca somewhere in the dumpster or it burnt up from heat all by itself. The woman that did this was sitting in her high chair the entire time we were going over the events and never so much as a grunt or rebuttal or argue the fact of what we were saying she did. Not one peep. Well played.
So after that we went to the police dept. and filed a report against the business. There is so much crime in this world today and our little town is getting out of control with thugs and gang bangers doing their crap. When a local business does this to a friend they have known for 30 years and done business with for that long as well, it is tragic. read more
