Pampering and trust-building with treats before the grooming.

Kayleigh and her team at Paw Chakra are amazing! Earlier this week I found a stray kitten who was in desperate need of some TLC. She was riddled with fleas and flea eggs, but sadly too young for flea medication or flea shampoo. After my sad attempt at giving her a flea bath myself with diluted Dawn dish soap (recommended by the vet), she was still covered in fleas. I reached out to the Paw Chakra and they customized a flea bath to ensure it was kitten safe. I also love that this place is kennel-free, a big part of why I wouldn't want to go anywhere else. Who wants to leave their pet sitting in a cage for hours, terrified of other animals and potentially picking up other fleas, viruses, etc. Here everything is fine in private rooms. Furthermore, they took their time making the kitten comfortable with treats and pets, since she isn't used to humans and is quite scared. The went through her fur and picked off each flea one by one after the bath, and combed the eggs out. The whole time, I was texted pictures and updates to help ease my own nerves, which is just above and beyond. Lastly, during the grooming service, the team at Paw Chakra noticed several injuries the kitten had on her body and paws, alerting me so that I could contact the vet and follow up. They were also very up front in telling me that this flea bath would likely not get rid of all of the fleas since they can't use medicated shampoos or put flea medicine on the kitten, but it does buy me time as the kitten gets closer to flea medication age and reduces the discomfort she, myself, and my other cat are experiencing. I'm so grateful to Kayleigh and her team at Paw Chakra for their flexibility and extra care for this unique situation. If needed, we'll definitely be back!

Our old groomer moved and was no longer available so we were in the process of trying to find a new…read moreone for our 14 year old dog. His face and body turned out great but his butt and tail, which were areas I specifically asked to focus on, were not. His butt was uneven (left cheek was shaved down, looked neat while right cheek still had a huge chunk of hair) and his tail looked untouched. I didn't realize how bad it was until we got home. I texted the salon back immediately and sent pictures. They offered to fix it if I brought him back but we didn't have time for that. After multiple back and forth with the manager, Paulina, the only resolution they continued to offer was 10% off of a future visit. After this experience, there won't be a future visit so that's not much of a resolution. It was a very disappointing experience and I would not recommend.

We recently took our dog to Love on a Leash Grooming. The actual grooming job was great, her cut…read morelooked clean, even, and the groomer put effort into getting through her matted fur. The pricing and communication were the frustrating part. We were quoted $85 on the phone, which sounded totally fair. When we dropped her off, the price went up to $110 because of matting .. understandable, but would've been good to know before we drove there. After the groom, they added another $10 because our dog was "difficult to work with." When we went to pay, there was also a fee for using a card. None of this was mentioned up front, so the whole experience felt like surprise charges stacked on top of each other rather than a clear price from the start. Unfortunately, our dog developed a UTI afterward. Our vet said the very close shave around her vulva area could have caused irritation and likely played a role. We had to get antibiotics and a follow-up exam, which cost another $140. So, a grooming visit that started at $85 ended up being a lot more than expected and could've been avoided. We don't think anyone meant for this to happen, but being more careful around sensitive spots on female dogs would be appreciated. And being upfront about pricing and possible extra charges would prevent a lot of frustration. Overall, the haircut looked great, but the unexpected fees and the aftermath made it hard to walk away happy. With better communication and gentleness, this could've been a positive experience.
