The good: Overall, this market is pretty good but hasn't been my go-to market despite it being closer to me than other markets. The layout here is different than most grocery stores. The fruit section is in the middle of the store and the bakery is in the middle toward the back (rather than on the sides like they usually are). They had some beautiful madeleine cookie cakes here that I've never seen made elsewhere. For mother's day, they also had a cupcake flower bouquet and many interesting and pretty Easter baked concoctions. Their bakery section is superb! They also sometimes have outdoor furniture. My family friend said Pavilions is a fancier Vons. This is the only Pavilions I've been to. The bad: Prices for a lot of other items are quite expensive here. I came for flowers once and things weren't super fresh. The selection was sparse. The interesting: They have a huge wine section with a counter that seems to have wine tastings. read more

Excellent customer service provided by Alex! Loaded a bunch of digital coupons and didn't realize until I drove back home that they didn't work. I went back to the store to find out what went wrong and Alex was extremely helpful! It turns out there was an issue between my landline which I no longer have in my cell phone number. He returned everything and redid it and I was refunded over $18. The best part is he didn't make me feel dumb nor was he irritated to do this he was so nice and kind! I've always liked this store! Pavilions Is one of the two main supermarkets up here on the hill. Of the two supermarkets up here on the hill, Pavilions is undoubtedly the nicest. It is a very well design store, it's items are easy to find, and it is always very clean and well-managed. Unlike most supermarkets where are you find the vegetables and produce over to one side, the produce at the store is right in the center. And, they have a lot of it. I find this to be a very nice feature as for those of us who try to eat a healthy diet you immediately have a very clear view of what they are currently offering. As many supermarkets of the modern era have, Pavilions also has a Starbucks. This is nice if you wanna grab a quick latte before you go shopping or when you leave. There's a very large parking lot in front of the store where there's always ample parking. So, even on the days when the supermarket or it's surrounding other businesses are crowded, you can always find a parking spot. Overall, this is a great store to get the things that supermarkets have to offer. read more

This has always been a great grocery store, however tonight was less than stellar. First when did closing time change and why isn't it on the door??? Visited at 9:45p and heard an announcement 5 minutes in that they were closing in 10 minutes?? Since when?? After the "closing in 5 minutes" announcement I rushed to an available check out line. The one with the light on, had no checker...the one with the light off had someone. So I ask her, which one should I go to? She mutters that she's closed but will take me and that she shouldn't be taking anyone else. WHAT IS GOING ON?? This review is regarding the purchase of a Tap transit card. We try to load money into the card and was helped by their staff. When we tried to use it with the bus, there was no balance. I had to call Pavilion to see what they can do. For cards like this or a gift card, if they is problem, they cannot do anything and asked me to call their corporate office. He even told me this happened a lot and sometimes the customer will be out of luck with getting the funds. I would be hesitant to deal with places like this. read more

I've been shopping here since I moved to Rancho Palos Verdes in 2019 and i've always had a pleasant experience until yesterday . I gave the new cashier a $20 for a $5 bag of popcorn and she swore up and down I handed her a $5 bill. She embarrassed me in front of all these customers and workers and treated me as if i was trying to get free money from the store . It's an open layout, well lit, friendly staff. In fact, The green grocery team have been there forever (I've spoken to one of the guys there for 15+ years) ... and you get to know them and trust their recommendations. The only downside I can think of is their beer selection is weak. They need to stock Belgian beer. The prices are a bit higher than the Ralph's down the street, but lower than Bristol farms... ultimately I think this is worth it and is the preferred market on the hill. read more

I work next to this Pavilion's so I'm here often. I especially love the sushi bar inside. I purchase a variety of sushi rolls and bowls for lunch all the time! I also like that they have single seltzer cans for sale as you walk in on the right. The service is always great! I mostly use self-checkout. There's hardly ever a wait, the cashier will also ring me up quickly if there is. The store overall is clean, friendly and offers a ton of options. There's even a Starbucks inside! read more

I've been a customer of Pavilion's for many years. Unfortunately, I've noticed a decline in their customer service over the past year. Their florist used to be a go-to for me but they no longer offer to wrap flower arrangements for you. Then, today, I purchased a cake from their bakery and when I asked to have something written on it, I was told that's "not available at this time." I usually use their seafood department and the people who run the counter are very helpful but the fish quality has gone down. I've had to throw out fish I bought same day because it was super smelly and dried out. Now, that they've shortened their opening hours too, it's starting to feel like I need to try another place. I have shopped at this market for 24 years. The people that worked there used to be good. Then they got rid of them because they wanted to bring in lower cost workers with no benefits, and it has shown! There are still a few good people, but not many. Their new trick, because they are so lazy, is to fill your grocery bag in front of them, if there is not a bagger, and just leave it there for you to pick up. Problem is the bag is in a very bad position to be picked up by the customer on the other side. You have to fully extend your arm and pick it up with one hand. This happened to me 9 months ago with a very heavy bag and I felt something in my shoulder pull. I figured it would get better. Long story short, I finally went to the orthopedic surgeon last week, had and MRI, and I have a torn tendon in my shoulder. It will not get better and the surgery is complicated with a long recovery per the doctor. I cannot extend right arm, I am right handed, without pain. It hurts to drive or read a book. I understand that the grocery staff also worries about protecting their physical condition. All I expect is for them to do for me what they do for the baggers. Send the bag or groceries to the end of the counter so I can pick them up with two hands and arms, distributing the weight. I also have no problem bagging myself and have done so many times. You would never see a checker leave a bag in front of her for a bagger. I am debating litigation. Still deciding. read more

me and my friend needed to buy helium balloons desperately and were in a time crunch. we did not ask one, not two, BUT THREE employees for help and nobody helped us. we were being tossed around like a potato. Pavilions=Vons=Safeway I grew up shopping at Safeway, having a Vons right by my house now that i go to every so often and after my second time at Pavilions last weekend, I realize they are all the same thing. I love this store!! It is always impeccably clean. There are specialty items that you will not find in other Vons markets. This Pavillions makes the best salads. Super fresh and yummy! The Thai salad with peanut dressing is my absolute favorite. They even put a lot a dressing in the package so I'm not left with dry salad! There are grab and go 16oz. home made yogurt parfaits with fresh berry's and the best tasting granola ever. Also a host of fresh sides like asparagus with sliced onions and mushrooms, menagerie of freshly sliced bell peppers and red onions. I write this cautiously because I want to give this grocery store the benefit of the doubt. The store has recently been remodeled and I'm sure they are still trying to figure things out. With that said, I want to put focus on the "Hot Food Bar!" In one word, "Horrible!" Whenever I walk by the bar, the food doesn't ever look fresh. In fact, it always looks as if the food is put out initially and then neglected for the rest of the day. This morning, the scrambled eggs looked hard as a rock and the color was closer to orange than yellow. The sausage patties were almost burnt to a crisp and dry. The hash browns didn't look half bad, but overall it looked like one big buffet that was neglected for hours! And to touch base briefly on the lunch and dinner offerings. I have walked in there now numerous times wanting to opt for the hot food bar. But I just can't do it thinking that I might get sick from food poisoning. I end up at the meat counter selecting the fried chicken, chicken tenders and French fries. That will continue to be my go to until they upgrade the "Not So Hot" Food Bar! I only write this hoping that the management puts more attention and focus on this potential asset! read more

Our friend referred us to this pavilions. We did not know we had a pavilions close to use. We were at the pavilions in santa monica yesterday and the one in santa monica is 100 times better than this pavilions. This pavilions has so many red flags. The merchandise here is very expensive and not worth the money. If you choose to shop here ask a nonmangement for help. They will actually be friendly and help you. We asked Chrissy for help and when she talks to us she sounds like she does not like her job and will not be friendly to u. We asked Steven for help and he apprently thinks he so professional wearing his black tie well he is not. He will not help you. He tells us that he is only going to help us because his boss Marla told him to. We told him he does not have to help us and he looked happy that we ok him not to help us and then left. Sounds like that is how he made it to a management position. Pretending to care only to please his boss. This store is infested with covid-19. Every employee is sick and not looking healthy. They do not take Covid-19 precutions seriously. They have a sign telling customers to obey the covid-19 precautions but they do not obey it. Finally we get starbucks after shopping. There starbucks is terrible. The starbucks is as bad as Steven n Chrissys management/customer service skills. The only thing we got while in here was a jar of yogurt and starbucks coffee. read more

Considering this is one of the only grocery stores in Palos Verdes, I feel like it is always kept clean and there is plenty of parking outside. The lines can be a little long because they normally only have a few cashiers open, but what can you do about it right? This location, 'Bucks #2233, is inside the Pavilions at Hawthorne & Silver Spur. There are actually 3 Starbucks in the Promenade at the Peninsula Mall, and I frequent all of them! Haha I stopped in this location after my Panda Express experience the other day (not to be confused with my Jimi Hendrix Experience which rocked, lol). I needed to drown the awful Panda lunch, and this 'Bucks was out of iced black tea! Lordy! That was catastrophic for me and cost them a star. I would have had to wait 4 minutes for a fresh batch to brew, and I can't sit still that long when I am headed to T J Maxx. So I rolled on over to one of the other locations.....the one around the corner. No biggy. Then I went back around the corner to T J Maxx, all loaded up with caffeine, ready to power shop. I scored a Vertigo (Paris) plaid trench coat, original manufacturer's price on the tag: $360. A button had fallen off. It had been reduced like 5 times. I paid 20 bucks. (One of the best bargains of my life.) It fits me like a glove and knocks 15 pounds off my fat ass.
