It is great for what it is. You're not looking for a steak dinner. It's a hamburger and hotdog joint, and it fills the bill.

This place has been around forever. I heard it was recently sold and stopped in to get some food. Everyone was friendly and service was good but the food wasn't as good as it used to be. My biggest complaint is the cheese sauce. That was the best. Now they put white American cheese slices on the dogs. Very disappointing. The inside hasn't changed at all which is cool but I can't forgive the cheese sauce not being there. It's an outrage lol! First world problems! It's not a bad place and I would never tell anyone not to go there but if you've been there before be prepared for sub par cheese dogs read more

Hey, Paul. It has been a few years since I was there and was disappointed at that time. I felt like a having a hot dog today and hoped things may have changed. I asked the counter person how you cook your dogs. She said deep fried, then how come the dogs were barely warm and were served in about two minutes. I ate one dog and left the second. My recommendation is, cook your dogs well they will taste better and hot is also good . Try Hirams in Fort Lee, NJ for good deep fried dogs that have ben there fo 70 years approx.. the girl in front STOLE my change? i gave her a $50 for a $23.xx order and i got $14 back. i tipped 4 and she kept the rest i didn't notice how much i was supposed to get back because i was in a rush. the owner got in the phone and started screaming that he doesn't have a $50 the draw isn't short refused to check the camera and that she wouldn't steal... yet somehow i got $14 back after she stole the rest. this place is genuinely low quality and awful now.. it's a shack with cheapest food possible. the quality is nauseating. and the hot dogs are like bologna sticks now.. great value quality... he has stooped down to the worst of the worst for the food. the sign and "paul's place's" good name is NOT this. it was better before it was sold. and it's gotten worse and worse since. maybe the nostalgia is still there for some(m, but that hot dog i ate was horrible enough to never go back. read more

This is a Greenwood Lake institution. Texas weiner sauce has been consistent for years. When Greg, former owner turned the reins over to the kid who cooks now, he did right. I notice when a business is turned over, a lot of times the food changes, and never for the better. Not Here! It is a diner like atmosphere and have a grape and orange drink thingy. I don't understand why this place got any good reviews. I ordered the hotdog with chilli and fries with gravy. The portions were almost laughable. There were barely any fries on the plate and hardly any chilli on the hotdog. The hotdog itself had no taste to it. Overpriced for plain food. I was still starving after I left so I made myself a real meal at home. I wouldn't recommend this place. Try Smoke shack BBQ down the road. This place is definitely not worth the money. Paul's place is the dive bar of hotdog joints, and it should be treasured for all its Old-fashioned, wholesome, Down home, Greasy hotdog joys. The Fries can sometimes be a bit lackluster, but if you throw enough salt on it, or ask for them to be served slightly well done,you won't notice . The place Has an ATM on site, and is definitely much more busy in the warmer months. I just drove past it the day after a snow/ice storm, and was surprised to see someone in there sipping on coffee. Stopped here on a whim. I don't like hot dogs so I ordered a cheesesteak, some fries and mozzarella sticks. The cheesesteak came on a hamburger bun and was mostly fried onions. It was tasty, just not what I was expecting. Cheesesteaks are typically on a hoagie/sub roll. The fries tasted like they had been cooked in oil that needed to be changed. Not great. The mozzarella sticks were good. No complaints about them. The service was friendly and the atmosphere is dated but in a cool way. I left full but I was expecting better. read more

Ordered a hot dog with mustard. The hot dog was decent, not much taste. Not sure of the brand. We also got a bacon cheese all the way dog. Once again the hot dog didn't have much taste. They were generous with the toppings and it was nice that they use real bacon. Got the half fries half onion rings. Fries were ok, onion rings were good. Pretty good Texas wiener joint in the middle of nowhere. I came in out of the forest after a morning of hunting and treated myself to two all the way. Service was quick, the dogs were juicy, the price was low. The sauce - not quite as cinnamon-y as Libbys or Hot Grill (a bit more Savory). Not as much mustard as Johnny and Hanges. This is a no-frills place so you can go there in shorts and a t-shirt. The onions weren't overpowering on the dog and the only thing I would do differently would be to get chili sauce for the fries.
