I've been coming to the salon for five and a half years and am very happy with the guidance of the students and the school's leaders taking responsibility if there ever is a problem. I have been a member of the VIP program since it started and love the discount I receive since I need my roots touched up every 3 weeks. However, I find it very unsatisfactory that the hot water supply facilities are so substandard that there never seems to be enough hot water in the wash room, and it seems to have gotten worse over the years. It either gets too cold or hot so that it's unbearable for the students to put their hands in it, let alone for the clients comfort. The majority of the time there is not enough hot water, and it is most unpleasant having your hair washed and rinsed with freezing cold water!! I can't stand not having my hair rinsed thoroughly, and I think a good part of the time it's because the students spend so much time adjusting the disastrous water temperature, they just want to be finished. This problem is not enough for me to stop coming, but it would make the experience so much more pleasant if it were fixed. read more

It was my first time and set realistic expectations on the service I was going to receive because I understand students are there to learn. I didn't expect the greatest experience but still expected for my hair to come out decent at least. I had an appointment at 5:30pm and didn't leave the salon until closing at 10pm for just a HAIRCUT AND A 15 MINUTE KERATIN TREATMENT!!! I remained EXTREMELY patient because again I understood it was a student working on me and I had time, but she did a TERRIBLE job. The teacher had come to assist with doing curtain bangs because the student had never done them before and praised her for how she was leaving my hair...if this is acceptable please consider another place for a simple hair cut. As I sat in the chair it was difficult to see it the back and trusted both of them on how it would look... When I tell you I'm devastated, I can't even begin! I hate my hair and have to go shorter to fix it! I had long hair and didn't want to go super short but now it looks like I have no other choice and I HATE IT. I would have expected the teacher to say something to try to fix it at least or would have liked her to walk around and engage with all the students. Only til the very end did she come and agreed with the student that my hair look nice. I just went along with them because I couldn't see. To top it off, the student didn't even know how to do a blow out so I cut her off short and told no need since I was going to sleep with it being 9:50pm. When I tell you I hate it, I genuinely got so sad because I would have never expected this when I had been so patient and even tipped the student because I trusted it looked good and was EXHAUSTED after being in the salon for almost 5 hours. I didn't know until I had gone home and straightened it myself how choppy it was. read more

Great service and attention to my needs. The instructor stopped the student from perming my hair as it had previously been bleached and needed to grow out more. I appreciated this care. Everything I had done looked great and was overseen by instructors. read more

I was completely disappointed with this school. Front desk Rude had an appointment at 8:30 was 10 minutes early said the waiting for 20 minutes Ask for a manager the front desk said no Went back to have a waxing service the could not do anything. We waited while the waxing room manager came in. No one could find her anywhere. It was running on 35 minutes now. And the waxing manager got mad when I said let's go can we start now. Started raising her voice and saying I have bad energy. It was more like annoyed. Just do your job be at your station so clients can get a procedure that should take 10 minutes respect people's time and do your job. This was the Temecula location I lived on OC and loved the Costa Mesa location Never had a problem staff was 10 out of 10 Just spend the money and go somewhere else. read more

When i moved to Temecula two years ago, we were in the throes of Covid. I was paying a lot of money to have someone come to my home and color my greys...Then i discovered Paul Mitchell school. For $40 i get my color done once a month. You get some pretty great students with great attitudes. You can request the same stylist until they graduate. I have been very pleased and will continue to use them read more

Honestly if you value your time don't waste it by coming here. Had an appointment at 9 and was waiting around for an hour all together. I got there early at like 8:50 and checked in. At 9:20 the lady came around asking everyone their names and said she'd figure out what was taking the students so long. At 9:40 I went up myself and she said their computers were down. At 9:50 I was over it and that's when I left. Literally messed my whole day up which was super inconvenient and stressful because it was my graduation day. The lady at the front was nice but like overall they just need to get their system or whatever together. But yeah save your time and don't come here!!! read more

Went in last night, to get a trim and I walked out with happiness & beauty. Shout out to my hairstylist Lourdes (Lulu) Celis. This was my first visit and she did a beautiful job $15 for a "long hair" cut and includes shampoo & conditioning. I enjoyed my hair massage and she did very well on choosing the right products to be used on my hair. I don't recall inquiring, where she is at, in her schooling but she was truly pleasant and knowledgeable. I will be a returning client and will probably follow her because I really did like her professionalism and knowledge in the products she used. While on vacation in Temecula, my husband and I both decided to visit Paul Mitchell for a hair refresh. Linda was our hair stylist throughout the entire process and we could not have asked for anyone better. She made our hair G L O W The environment she created was the little slice of zen we needed this holiday season. We seriously could not speak any higher of her professionalism, skill, and passion for her craft. Would absolutely recommend this school and our stylist Linda M. to anyone and everyone! read more

I've been to so many salon that has done a poor job of my hair. The last work I had done turned my hair green rather gray. I was referred by my friend to try a beauty school. Here I was assigned to Lindsey, she is the best color master. Our first session was to color correct the green tinge out of my hair and I was realistic that my hair wouldn't turn gray right away and it was a process but walking around with green vomit color hair made me want to throw up. With this first session Lindsey was able to pull all the green out and get grays on my hair. The second session was even better Lindsey and Natalie teamed up to give me a beautiful hair do that blended so well with my stubborn brown hair. They both worked together to lift that color out and gave me an amazing blended gray. I am so happy with my hair and I felt so good again to be able to trust someone with my hair. Lindsey and Natalie are such a great team the 7+hrs I was there seemed like a breeze because they made me feel at home and continued to have fun along the way. These ladies are the best and they have made a forever client. read more

I was a student here and I would NEVER go back. Let me start off by saying, you are paying over $20,000 for the tuition and with that you get, the most basic tools and have to buy most of them on your own in order to perform somewhat quality services, the facilities you use include the wash bowls that are often broken or don't produce warm water, the chairs break, the floor and stations are covered in hair, there was never enough product for everyone, the eduction is to a bare minimum, the instructors are just as clueless as the students and couldn't care less about you. I experienced first hand the ignorance of the instructors, I would leave school crying because of the lack of support and the amount of pressure put on me by the school. You are provided with clients, mind you some of the most critical and rude people you will ever encounter because the prices to get their hair done is dirt cheap. THERE IS A REASON IT IS SO CHEAP... WE ARE STUDENTS. Most people don't understand this and will treat you with such disrespect and belittlement, and when addressed to the instructors or managers they dismiss the issue to keep the customers happy. Overall, all the school cares about is money and the clients... they do not care about the students or their education, they lie about placing you once you graduate, and they will work you all day long. If you want to pass state board and get your liscense be prepared to do ALL your own studying and research because they do not know how to teach nor the criteria they are covering. Do not go here if you care about your well being and education, I would rather have commuted 3+ hours to go somewhere else than go there again. read more

My husband and I got our haircuts done there today. This place is great. I had the pleasure of getting Madilynn S. and she was awesome. They really pamper you and make you feel good. This is the absolute best place I've ever gotten my hair cut. If you go on Mondays and Tuesdays, it's $5, $15 on Thursdays and Fridays (closed Wednesdays). I've been twice and never had to wait (at least not more than a couple of minutes). The atmosphere is very relaxed, and you can make genuine human connections with the people there. The young woman who cut my hair yesterday plays basketball for a local college and is hoping to transfer to a Cal State in order to pursue a career as a physical therapist. Later that day, I ran into a friend who commented on how nice my haircut looked. You leave feeling like and looking like a million bucks . . . for $5! read more

If I could give this 0 stars i would. went to get my hair done and asked for a natural balayage. i had very dark brown hair. TELL ME WHY I WALK OUT OF THAT SALON, 5 HOURS AND 70 DOLLARS LATER MY HAIR IS ORANGE AND FEELS LIKE STRAW. they're students so you can't blame the students but where was the teacher at? i'm not mad at the student who did my hair her technique was good it's just the color. the teacher honestly wasn't helping the girl who did my hair which is probably why this happened. wanted a refund they asked me to just come back and pay 10 dollars to get it redone, yeah no thanks. why would i go back in there? for them to fry off more hair? i'm okay. for reference this is what i asked for and this is what i got. read more

First, i want to start this review by stating that Students are the future teachers and i would like for anyone that comes into these doors to remember that. You are their practice that will lead them to perfection, you are here to support someone's dream, many among us forget that. Be patient with your student, communicate any concern or question you may have, if they don't know an answer, they will find it for you, tell them what you like & what you don't like, i promise you they will listen. This is hard work, a lot of time and effort goes into making us, the client happy and if you come in with an open mind and good attitude, i assure you you'll be pleased with the result. Now, this isn't a typical salon, it's a school, but i chose to take a risk transforming my virgin hair to a bright, fire red and the entire experience could not have been more perfect. It all felt personal, unlike going to a salon, I spent almost 7 hours here and the student working on my hair was so worried about me and constantly apologizing for the time it was taking, but i was fine the whole time! she was super sweet, i changed my mind a few times of the shade of red i wanted and she played around with formulas multiple times until i was completely happy with the color. I was completely in amazement when she turned the chair because i could not believe that was my hair!!!! And she took so much pride in her work it made my heart melt and i paid $113 including the $50 VIP paul mitchell card where you receive 50% off all services & free hair cuts for a year, WHAT A STEAL! At the end of the day, I felt like we friends. She washed my hair with two other of her student friends and they were making me laugh the entire time. They are such beautiful girls, so different and individual and i cannot wait to see them become professionals! Thank you Kenzie, Glenda and Ayana for all your hard work and dedication! read more

Students are great, but receptionists up front has been rude every time we have come in wears her hair up in a pony tail blonde.

This school is very unorganized and is not on top of helping there students "they so call care about". We always have to be the one to call, email, and reach out to people for things that they should already have done!! Me and some of my classmates graduated about 3 weeks ago now and we were supposed to have are Stateboard paid and scheduled already. We call and call everyday but they always say brandi from attendance is not there but I have heard that she is.... So is she ignoring the students?? It's just pushing back are time further and further to get our licensed! A group of us are pretty angry but I'm going to be the one to speak up about it. Get your shit together!!! read more

The night students aren't really supervised or taught. Most of them have never rolled a perm. They aren't instructed to practice on their dolls either so they sit around a lot of the time. It's really shameful they don't get proper training. I wouldn't recommend them other than for trims because they also don't know what a real haircut is. Really sad. read more

Been coming here since I was a kid (on and off since I recently moved back) and have never had a negative experience. I recently went to get my hair cut with long layers and face framing. I was there for about 90 minutes (I have a lot of hair) and loved how it turned out. The student who worked on me was detailed and did an amazing job!! It was $15, but if you "check in" on yelp, you get $5 off your service so I only paid $10 (they don't take cash). read more

Consider your options before choosing Paul Mitchell. I know it's on me for going to a beauty school to save some cash but I'm honestly disappointed. The haircut I received was not a noticeable difference from what I had when I walked in and when I mentioned that I'd wanted more taken off to the student and to her instructor and that I was coming in the next day, I felt like they both brushed it off with "it looks perfect!". The next day (less than 24 hours) when I came in to get my color done, I mentioned that I'd like my cut touched up and instead of fixing it, they determined I'd have to pay for another cut. It's not a bad haircut but I wish they would have listened to my opinion during the cut or would have fixed it when I came back within 24 hours, especially since I have fine, thin hair, which shouldn't have taken forever. Overall, I feel like I wasted my time and that I don't really matter as a customer. Going to an actual salon to get the cut fixed. read more

Well. The deep conditioning treatment was great. The bang cut was, ummm, well... I asked for this. But I got this. You really gotta watch every single thing they do and don't be afraid to explain in detail and guide them as they go. I took my eyes off the girl for one second and that's what happened. Well, it's a school. I mean they ARE just learning. Weird thing is that these bangs were done by one of the supervising stylists which I think are students too? Or maybe recent graduates? Anyway, cuts (especially bang cuts) are brave thing to try there. All over Color, deep conditioning etc. all good. read more

This is the second and last time i let them cut my hair. The first time i had my short hair cut there, I explained EXACTLY what i was wanting done and told the student and teacher what to be careful about because I have a very oblong shaped skull. What I ended up with was the very cut i was worried about getting. They cut WAY TO MUCH and it all sucked up to my head. It took months to s start to grow out. I came in yesterday just for a TINY TRIM and SHAPING around the back and I couldn't have been more clear that all I wanted was a the tiniest bit cut just enough to help the layers blend nicely. Your male instructor came by to help and took so much unnecessary weight out of the back (that i had been trying so hard to grow back out) that in back again that it looks horrible and is awkwardly cut again. Now i look like Dorothy Hamill again!!! I am so distraught and furious (mostly distraught). It's my birthday tomorrow and now this is what i have to go to my party looking like. I will never set foot in their door again to get my hair cut again except to get a refund for the VIP package i just bought. The student was a graduating senior and the instructor should've known how to take into account the shape of a clients head before taking shears to them. ESPECIALLY since I told them EXACTLY about what to be careful of so clearly. They are nice people but DONT know apply critical thinking or deductive reasoning where cuts are concerned. ESPECIALLY that it applies to an instructor! My color looked great though. Just don't let them get a pair of shears next to your head unless you have a mannequin shaped head. read more

Update: now I wish I could give zero stars. I got such a bad cut at Paul Mitchell it was uneven and textured very badly so some parts flip up underneath and don't lay flat, besides it takes forever to style because the cut is all over the place. I went next door to Anasa hair studio and they fixed my cut thank god. Go to Anasa and ask for Falicia!!! Don't waste your time at Paul Mitchell. You'll thank me because Anasa is $51 for a true professional cut and it's just a few bucks more than Paul Mitchell. read more

I moved up here in Temecula back in November, getting my hair done was long over due so I looked into Paul Mitchell the school KNOWING everyone there is learning. I wanted a balayage of blonde so I went onto Instagram and looked into the students who currently attending there to see who would fit doing the type of hair I wanted. Everyone that I came across on Instagram were really good! I finally came across Amanda Sanders (@hairbyamandachris) and I decided to DM her and get booked. She took me in the soonest date she could, She took me in even earlier than the time we agreed on which was definitely no problem and was even better because I have long and thick hair! I went in today and EVERYONE was so sweet and welcoming. Amanda came around when I came in and sat me right away. She then consulted me, gave really good ideas on what we could do with my hair.. which I wasn't picky about. I allowed her to do what she think would be best with the color I wanted... NO REGRETS. I wish I remembered the other lady that helped as well she was so sweet! (She had almost a white blonde hair with bangs and dark roots if I could remember correctly.. Shes the hair ninja) Anyways, Amanda the whole 7 HOURS straight was so patient and outgoing. I wasn't bored at all. She was always asking if I needed anything, If I was thirsty, needed a snack, if I wanted to get up and stretch. My whole experience within the 7 hours I was there was amazing and I already booked my second session with Amanda!! She did so great on my hair there's not enough words to even express how much I love my hair! Thank you Amanda and everyone else at Paul Mitchell the school for being great. read more

Amanda Sanders was extremely great and just what I was looking for in a hairstylist! She was attentive and meticulous and made sure that my opinions were heard! I was looking for someone to do a balayage on my hair but since I'm a student, it's hard for me to afford the prices at salons that charge over 200-400 for coloring so I was looking at the Paul Mitchell school yelp and found Amanda while reading reviews and looking at picture inspirations! Horrible cut horrible service horrible color and horrible wait time. A trim, root color took 4hrs and paid $90!?

If I could give the service zero stars I would! I don't even know where to start I went on my day off with plans to relax but that is far from what happened!! As soon as I walk through the doors I was not welcome it was like I was a ghost. Is that how you should feel on your day off? I don't think so! I waited in the most uncomfy bench. I waited and waited hoping to get some attention. Finally after a whole 15 minutes I got up and asked the front desk ladies who were chit chatting if they could help me.
