Initially Paul came over to quote. He was on time, friendly and was very keen to get the job. Although he wasn't the cheapest we decided to go with him due to his keenness. He came by after that we said he got the job, but only brought 3 samples that didn't match our discussed scope and he was unprepared for a meeting in which we would finalise the details. We asked for a contract, but he wanted to wait until detail was decided, but we shouldn't worry. He came by later that week with literature for us to pick from, which had limited choice, so we researched ourselves on supplier's website. He set a start date for the following Wednesday and he would get us the contract. On Monday I chased him again and the radio silence started. I rang him lots that week, got a text back that he'd call back, but never did. I rang his office every day that week and they promised he would call back. Even eventually asked if this is normal for him and she hinted that this is not unusual behaviour. He never showed for start date and never got back to us. Eventually we had to find someone else.
