Paul is a French cafe chain that had locations around the world. We were lucky to have one on Lincoln Road for many years. In our last meal of the trip we were excited to find a location in Madrid. We ordered one of their ham and cheese sandwiches on baguettes and one large pistachios macaron. The sandwich was perfect with fresh ingredients and a touch of butter on the toasted baguette. The macaron was delicious and very chewy, which was the best way to end my Madrid trip. read more

Located in the J gates section of Terminal 4, Paul is a Patisserie/Boulangerie. I had a Salmon/Spinach Quiche for breakfast along with orange juice which was fresh squeezed. (Great to see them throw the oranges into the squeezer) Quiche was tasty with a flaky crust & plenty of Spinach/Salmon filling. Also picked up a Goat Cheese Sandwich for lunch on the plane. Loaded with goat cheese, pesto dressing and veggies, this sandwich hit the spot. About 15 euros for everything. They have a good selection of pastries and cold grab and go items. You order at the counter and take your food. (No table service) an ample amount of seating on the dining area with servers at the counter friendly & helpful. read more

This is the only Paul location in Spain, and it's pretty decent considering that they're operating out of an airport. Nobody likes hanging out at the airport to begin with, but if you're looking to grab a snack or even pick up sandwiches before you head into Madrid, this is definitely a great place to stop at. The ham and cheese sandwich is a delicious and simple choice. You definitely want to get it toasted to enjoy it to its fullest (the flaky bread and smooth, warm butter....drool). Their chocolate croissants are tasty and a huge personal favorite of mine. This Paul location may not have that true genuine effect that you'd have sitting outside a cafe in Paris or London, but it comes close enough in this crappy airport. There's plenty of decent seating and it's a good place to hang out if you're stuck waiting at the airport. read more

Airports always have limited choices, so Paul wasn't too bad considering the setting. I went with their breakfast menu of fresh squeezed orange juice, croissant and coffee for 7.95. It was decent and did the job, no complaints. They have tons of seating and a restroom nearby. Paul also has some refrigerated foods and juices available for purchase. read more

Sadly the airport does not have the best food options (if you want to sit down for a bit). We had breakfast here, and the bread was stale, and not in the good baguette way (it was only 9am). Sadly after walking across the whole area (we had several hours to kill at the airport), it seems that it is on par for the airport. read more

Just had a light lunch yesterday at Paul Bakery/Restaurant in Terminal 4, boarding area at Madrid Airport. So good. Had a caprese baguette sandwich, heated. Great qaulity bread, mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto. Also a canelle pastry. Their pastries look exquisite and so French, a very big selection. My canelle was very good. Only drank bottled Nestea because I wanted a cold drink, but others there said that the espressos, etc. were excellent. There is a Starbucks nearby which I have tried in the past, and it has the great consistent quality expected of them. Paul Bakery dates back to the late 1800s and is wonderful. read more
